ALEX'S POV
I woke up to someone knocking on our door.. at 8:30 in the morning! Who's up that early anyways?
"I'll go get it." I told Mom since she was up late putting up with me last night. I don't deserve her.
I ran downstairs and I almost fell. I have those Lovato genes. I opened the door and was greeted by one of my best friends from volleyball.
"ELLIE!" I screamed and hugged her.
"ALEX!" She did the same and I laughed.
"What's all this screaming about?" Mom asked as she walked downstairs, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. It dawned on her once she saw Ellie at the door.
"Hi, Ms. Lovato!" Ellie smiled.
"Hi, Ellie!" Mom smiled back. "Please, call me Demi. I want to still feel young." She joked.
"Gotcha, Demi." Ellie laughed.
"Let's go upstairs." I suggested to Ellie. She agreed and we went up to my room.
"I missed you!" Ellie whined and pouted.
"I missed you more." I whined back and also pouted.
"Impossible!"
"So possible!" I replied.
"What have you been up to?" Ellie asked.
"Nothing much.. therapy.. and then more therapy. Did I ever tell you I DESPISE men?"
"I'm sorry." She hugged me.
"Ellie.. can I be honest to you about something? Without you telling my Mom."
"Of course!" She replied.
"I want to go out and drink. I want to drink my pain away." I talked quietly.
"My sister is going to a party tonight. She said there was going to be alcohol and asked if I wanted to go, since our parents are out of town. I can get us both in. You down?" Ellie asked as she was drawing a flower on her wrist with one of my markers.
"Yes! Thank you!" I practically screamed and hugged her. "What time is it at?"
"Around seven-thirty tonight. I'll text my sister to pick us up here."
"Perfect! I think I can give an excuse to my Mom tonight." I smiled. The thought of my pain being numbed for just a couple hours makes me happy.
"Girls! Breakfast is ready!" Mom yelled from downstairs. I gulped nervously at the thought of food. I'm sure Ellie can eat my breakfast.
"I'll go get it." I told Ellie. I walked downstairs and saw two plates. Mine had one piece of bacon, one egg that was cooked over easy, and a piece of toast. Ellie's plate had more than mine, it consisted of two pieces of bacon, one egg that was also cooked over easy, and two pieces of toast.
"Thanks, Mama!" I smiled at her, grabbed the plates, and went upstairs to Ellie. "You want mine? I'm not really hungry right now." I told Ellie. It's sad that lying is getting easier and easier now.
"Sure!" She smiled and gratefully took both the plates. I grabbed Ellie's phone to play her music on my speaker. The first song that came on was Cool For The Summer by my Mom.
"You have my Mom's music on your phone?!" I laughed a bit.
"Of course! I have to support my best friend's Mom!" She fought back and I continued laughing. Ellie finished both plates of food and I brought them downstairs to the kitchen.
"You finished your breakfast?" Mom asked as I came down with two empty plates.
"Yep!" I smiled.
"I'm so proud of you!" She kissed my cheek. There's nothing to be proud of...
"Thank you.. can I go see a movie with Ellie and her sister tonight?" I asked after I put the dishes in the sink.
"Of course! What movie are you guys going to see?"
"We don't know yet. I think we're deciding when we get there." I told her.

Seven-thirty couldn't come fast enough. To say I was excited would be an understatement. Ellie's sister, whose name is Evelyn, picked us up at seven.
"You guys look great! Are you ready to party?" Evelyn asked us as we piled into the car. I smiled and nodded.
"You guys look amazing!" I smiled at them. I already saw Ellie's outfit before, but I never told her how amazing she looked. Evelyn was wearing a baggy Queen t-shirt, jeans, and white converse.
Ellie was wearing a white crop top, with a cover up, blue skinny jeans, and sandals.
I tried to go for a more basic, but cute look. I was wearing a beige/white crop top, black leather jacket, black skinny jeans, and black converse.
We arrived at Evelyn's friend's place, who was hosting the party.
"Who are these brats?" Her friend asked as we walked in.
"This is my sister and her friend. They're chill, I promise." Evelyn replied.
"The drinks are in the living room, along with all the snacks. Everyone's in the living room too."
"No, shit. Where else would they be?" Evelyn jokes. I followed Ellie into the living room, at first feeling shy. I grabbed a drink and a chick with a punk style approached us.
"Aren't you too young to be drinking?" She asked as she smoked a cigarette.
"Yeah. What's it to ya? You're not my mom." I said with a lot of sass.
"Touché. I like your sass." She replied. "What's your name?"
"Alex. Yours?" I asked as I took a big sip of beer. That sip felt amazing.
"The name's Max." She replied. "You seem cool. Come hang with us?"
"Sure." I smiled. I grabbed a few more cans of beer, so I don't have to go up a lot to get more.
After two hours in, I was super drunk. Did I know what I was doing? Yes, but no. I was dancing with both Max and Evelyn. Ellie was talking with some of her friends from school, who also showed up.
Later on, Max, Evelyn, some of their friends, and I decided to play spin the bottle.
"Psst, Alex." Ellie whispered in my ear before I spun the bottle. "Let me text your mom to let her know you'll be home late." I nodded in agreement, still drunk as fuck, as I handed her my phone. I spun the bottle and it landed on Evelyn, who I might add, is almost twenty-two. Everyone started whispering to each other.
"Let's do this, Lovato." Evelyn smirked, who was drunk too.
"Yes. Let's do this, Davis." I smirked the same way. We crawled to the center of the circle, since we were sitting on the floor. We then kissed on the lips, not giving two shits about it. Everyone gasped and we quickly pulled away. I'm just glad Ellie wasn't watching.
"Yo, Lovato. Come with me." Max said, pulling me up off the ground.
"Why?! I'm having fun." I dragged out the last word as I stumbled a bit.
"If you're going to go home to THE Demi Lovato, you have to sober up." Max brought me to the kitchen and grabbed me a bottle of water.
"Fiiinnneee." I whined and drank the water.
"You probably should take a shower before I take you home, yeah?" Max suggested. I nodded and she showed me where the bathroom was. "I'll wait out here." She said as she leaned against the wall.
"Okay." I walked in, shut the bathroom door, and locked it. I got undressed and looked at myself in the mirror. Why do I look fat? Last I checked I was seventy-five pounds.. but to myself, I look fat. I never ate anything at all today.. and I plan to keep it that way for a while. I need to look perfect.
- TRIGGER WARNING -
I got in the shower while it was steaming hot. I proceeded to wash my body and hair. I hesitantly grabbed a razor.
'DO IT.'
I broke the razor and without hesitation, dragged it across my wrist. I felt satisfied, watching the crimson blood flow down my wrists and down the shower drain. I quickly cleaned up and hopped out. I dried myself and put my clothes back on.
-TRIGGER WARNING OVER-
"I'm ready." I spoke quietly as I exited the bathroom.
"Okay. Let's go then, Lovato." Max said, grabbing her car keys.
"Are you sober?" I asked her.
"Yep. I didn't drink tonight. I knew people would need a ride home, so might as well be the one to not be drunk and give rides home. Sometimes they'll pay you." She joked as she got in the driver's seat.
"Thank you. I had a lot of fun." I smiled at her.
"You were pretty cool. For a freshman that is." She laughed a bit and I laughed too. "You wanna get some food? I can pay."
"I'm not hungry. Plus, I'm tired." I half lied.
"Okay. Let's get you home then." She said. I put my address in her GPS and we headed towards my place.
"Thanks for the ride." I smiled at her as we pulled into my driveway.
"No problem! Wait, give me your phone." She commanded before I got out. She ended up typing her number in my phone. "Also, here's a mint." She handed it to me.
"Thanks!" I smiled at her and popped the mint in my mouth. I ran into the house and was kinda surprised to see Mom wasn't waiting for me. Before I entered my room, I checked Mom's room and saw she was asleep with Batman and Ella.
"Hey, Batman. Hey, Ella." I whispered as they greeted me. They followed me into my room where I threw myself on the bed and looked at Max's contact. She named herself "Max 🍺🚬"
I then proceeded to look at Instagram. I was scanning through Instagram stories and one of Logan's stories caught my eye. If you don't know who Logan is, she is Maddie's best friend. I saw she was at a party. Not just any party. The party I was at! She was filming the room and I guess her and I were in the same room. I don't think she noticed me though. What's scarier is that I was in the video, sitting in a circle playing spin the bottle with everyone.
'YOU IDIOT.'
My chest tightened and it hurt to breathe. Not another panic attack. I got out of bed, choking on my own sobs as I went into Mom's room.
"M-Mama.." I choked out. As I reached her side of the bed.
"Alex?" She sat up and turned on her bedside lamp. "Oh, baby. What's wrong?" She immediately asked as she saw me breaking down.
"I-It hurts, Mommy." I cried out.
DEMI'S POV
"M-Mama?" I heard Alex choke out.
"Alex?" I asked as I sat up and turned on my bedside lamp. "Oh, baby. What's wrong?" She's having a panic attack. Don't be stupid, Demi.
"I-It hurts, Mommy." She cried out. It always makes me happy when she calls me "mommy" but she's usually hurting when she does call me it. I don't like to see my baby hurting.
"Come here, baby girl." I spoke calmly as I held my arms out. She gratefully accepted and practically threw herself in my arms. "You're okay, Alex. You're safe." I whispered as I comfortingly ran my fingers through her hair.
"I love you, Mama." She whispered as her breathing got back to a normal pace.
"I love you more, baby girl." I replied before she fell asleep in my arms. What's going on in her mind? I thought right before falling asleep.
