Chapter 59 - 58

DEMI'S POV

"Hey, Mama." I said through the phone when she picked up.

"Hi, baby girl. What's up?" My Mom asked me.

"I kinda need to tell you something. I need to tell Alex, but I don't know how to exactly tell her." I answered.

"What do you have to tell her?"

"I made the decision to send her to rehab. I didn't want to, but I feel like she's not getting better in my care." I sighed, putting my face in my hands.

"I think you just have to be blunt about it, Demi. Like how we were when we were going to send you to rehab." She told me.

"Thanks, Mama. I love you!" I said before hanging up. I walked upstairs to Alex's room and knocked on her door. This is going to be hard.

"Come in!" She shouted.

ALEX'S POV

I was sitting on my bed, scrolling through Instagram when someone knocked on my door.

"Come in!" I shouted.

"Alex, we need to talk." Mom stated.

"About?" I asked, looking up at her.

"Ithinkitisbesttosendyoutorehab." She said quickly. I didn't understand a word she said.

"What did you say?"

"I think it's best that we send you to rehab." Mom said slower this time. My world just came crashing down.

"No! I'm not going!" I yelled at her. "You can't make me!"

"Alex, I am your mother, you do not talk to me like that." She spoke sternly. "I don't want to send you there, but I think it's best for you to go. You can get the help you need there."

"Whatever." I mumbled and rolled my eyes.

"Watch the attitude, young lady. I want you packed and ready to go in.." She looked at the time on her phone. "Six hours."

"Six hours?! Ugh!" I threw a pillow at her out of anger.

"Watch it!" She shouted before she left my room. I pulled out my suitcase and shoved a bunch of random clothes in there. I don't know how long I'll be staying, so it's just easier to pack random shit. I don't know why she's making me go. I swear, I'm not crazy.

"I finished packing." I announced to Mom as I bounded down the steps.

"Come eat, baby girl." Mom commanded as she put a sandwich on the table.

"I'll pass." I replied as I sat on the couch in the living room.

"You have to eat, Alexis." Mom came into the living room with the sandwich. She placed the plate in front of me. "I'm going to make sure you didn't pack anything you aren't supposed to. When I come back down, I hope to see you eating that sandwich." She spoke before heading upstairs. Luckily for me, I decided that I'm packing my blades before we leave.

"Batman! Ella! Come here." I whispered as soon as I was sure Mom was upstairs. They hopped up on the couch next to me. I took off tiny pieces of the sandwich and fed it to them. I heard footsteps coming downstairs. I shooed both of them off the couch.

"I'm proud of you, baby girl." Mom told me as I took a bite of the sandwich. She came over and sat next to me.

"I'm full.." I mumbled and pushed the plate away. She pulled me close to her.

"You know I'm doing this because I love you, right?" She asked me. I nodded. "I just want you to be happy, baby." She whispered as she kissed the top of my head. I cuddled into her warm, consoling embrace.

I never knew how fast six hours could go. After those fast six hours, we were boarding a plane, which I managed to sneak my blades on. The plane ride took three hours. To say I was nervous would be an understatement.

"You're going to be fine." Mom reassured me. I guess I'll be fine. Supposedly in 2018, my Mom went to the rehab center I'm going to. (A/N: Let's just act like Demi's older than what she is now 😂) I still remember that day like it was yesterday. I wish I didn't remember it. I was sleeping over at Grandma and Grandpa's place because Mom was "busy".

- FLASHBACK -

"Be good for Grandma and Grandpa, okay?" Mom told me as she dropped me off at Grandma and Grandpa's Los Angeles home. Something seemed off about her, but I couldn't tell what it was.

"Okay, Mama. I love you." I smiled at her.

"I love you more." She smiled back. That night was a normal night. I did the usual crap I do at Grandma and Grandpa's which is chill with Maddie and Dallas. The next morning was unexpected.

"D-Dallas, go wake up Alex. D-Demi is in the hospital." I heard Grandma's voice from her bedroom. I was just waking up. I heard my door open and I acted like I was sleeping.

"Alex, wake up." Dallas quickly shook me awake. "Get your shoes on we have to go now." Her voice was laced with fear. I got out of bed and ran downstairs, sliding on a pair of flip flops.

"What's happening?" I asked them all as we got in the car.

"D-Demi's in the hospital, baby girl." Grandma said from the passenger seat. Aunt Dally was driving because Grandma wasn't calm enough to do so.

"Is she going to be okay?" I asked them.

"We don't know." Dallas replied. We arrived at the hospital and ran inside.

"Where is she? Where's my daughter?!" Grandma demanded.

"What's her name?" The receptionist asked calmly.

"Demi Lovato." Grandma replied impatiently.

"I don't see a Demi Lovato, but I do see a Demetria Lovato." The receptionist told her.

"That's her." I spoke to the receptionist before Grandma could.

"She's in room 237." She smiled and told us. We all ran to her room and we saw her assistant, Kelsey Kershner, waiting outside.

"What happened?!" Grandma asked her. I looked at Grandma and saw she was crying. I don't think I've ever seen her cry before.

"She overdosed. I don't know when, but she did." Kelsey replied with a shaky voice. "The doctor and nurse are in there checking her vitals because she's just starting to wake up."

"Is Mama going to be okay?" I asked Kelsey. I couldn't lose my Mom, she's like my security blanket.

"I don't know, squirt." She told me and messed with my hair. "On the way here, her heart stopped beating. They thankfully got it beating again." Kelsey told Grandma.

"You guys are free to go in and see her." A man's voice told us. I looked at him and saw it was the doctor. I was the first one to rush into her hospital room. She was hooked to a heck ton of wires.

"Mommy!" I cried out as I jumped on her bed next to her.

"Alexis, careful!" Grandma spoke sternly.

"It's okay, Mama." My Mom's raspy voice spoke. "Hey, baby girl."

"I thought I was going to lose you!" I cried as I clung onto her like my life depended on it.

- FLASHBACK OVER -

"We're here, ladies." The Uber driver said. Mom and I got out. I grabbed my suitcase and we went inside to check me in.

"Who are we checking in?" A blonde lady asked.

"Alexis Lovato." Mom replied.

"Alexis Lovato," She clicked several things on her computer. "She's here for self harm, eating disorder, depression, anxiety, and possible PTSD?" She asked Mom.

"Yes." Mom answered.

"Okay. She's checked in. You two can say your goodbyes before someone comes and shows Alexis her room." She said before walking away.

"I love you, baby girl." Mom spoke gently as she held her arms out. I jumped into her arms and she picked me up.

"You said you wouldn't leave me!" I cried into the crook of her neck.

"Shh, Alex. Calm down, baby." She cooed gently and rubbed my back. "I'm not leaving you. I'm going to be here as soon as you get done with treatment. I'll make sure of it."

"P-Promise?" I stuttered as she put me down.

"I promise." She reassured me as we locked pinkies and kissed it. You can't break a pinky promise. She wiped away some of my tears.

"Alexis, I'm here to show you to your room." A lady with brown, wavy hair spoke.

"I love you." I said quietly to Mom.

"I love you more, baby girl. I believe in you. You're my little warrior. Stay strong, okay?" She said as she hugged me one last time, it sounded like she was crying.

"I'll try." I replied as I hugged back. She looked back at me while walking out the door. She was noticeably crying. We both waved at each other and before I knew it, she was out of sight.

"Let's go, Alexis. I'll show you to your room, your schedule, and I'll have to check your suitcase." The lady with brown hair said. I looked at her name tag and it said Amelia. Well, my blades were bound to be found anyways. I nodded and followed her down the corridor. This can't be too bad, can it?
