"Hmmm... Kyuu~?" Lavenza was the one to wake up in the morning. She saw the room was slightly bright, thanks to the light from outside the window. When she got up, she saw Soren still fast asleep, completely unaware of her waking up and then started swimming inside the house.
After swimming for a bit, she decided to go to the bathroom to look herself in the mirror. She hadn't noticed it before, but that she looked at herself, she like she grown around 5 centimeters in length. She felt happy that she had grown a bit.
"Kyuu~ Haka~." At that moment, Lavenza felt a bit suprised that she managed to say something else. She didn't mind the fact that she couldn't talk at all but that new word, to her, felt like it was her first step towards speaking with actual words, even if it wasn't much different from the babbling of babies, she still felt extremely happy.
"Haka~ Haka~ Kyuu~ Kyuu~..."
She tried for around 10 or 15 minutes, but to no avail, she only made those two noises. She could occasionally do some variationa of "Kyuu", but she felt like she couldn't make other noises. After she left the bathroom, she decided to check Soren if he was still asleep and she saw him still fast asleep, so she decided to wake him up softly, but he saw still fast asleep. Her next course of action though, was swimming upwards until she reached the ceiling.
Soren was still asleep, since he spent a decent amount of time thinking about the events that transpired the past three days, he felt like he needed some well-deserved sleep. But his luck said otherwise, since the moment he woke up, he was met with a powerful blow on his stomach that felt like a heavy sledgehammer hit.
"OOOOOOOWWWW!!! OWOWOW!!!! GOD THAT HURTS!!!!" Soren screamed that while having a pained expression. Once he regained his senses from the world of pain, he saw the cause of the pain, Lavenza, who was smiling mischeviously and laughing a bit before she got up and swam away.
"Lavenza! What was that for?" Soren asked angrily, but he had no answer for it. His body was still in a decent amount of pain, but he could still move without many problems. After getting up from the couch, picking up and tidying the stuff, as well as cleaning himself up, he finally reached the kitchen to make some breakfast.
Since Soren and Lavenza were the only ones to be in Rohan's house and he and his brother wouldn't seem to return for at least a couple of day, he decided to make some quick breakfast for the two of them by making the same breakfast as yesterday's, Cruxius bread and molpis jam.
After the two of them ate the breakfast and left the house after locking it, they saw that the streets felt pretty empty compared to yesterday when they left early. Thankfully, they saw a man that was passing by and decided to ask.
"Ummm... Sir, may I ask you something?"
"Go ahead young man."
"Is it just me, or are the streets a lot emptier than usual?"
"Are you living under a rock kid, why would anyone be here? Today's the great summoning and we will get to see the new champion of the mer-folk. Although, us commoners won't be able to see the summoning in front of us, we can still see the champion, once they are summoned." The man said excitedly.
"And how much time is left before the summoning?" Soren asked nervously.
"Hmmm... Around an hour at most, I think? I don't have a watch with me right now, so it's better to rush there like the end of the world is coming right now. Anything else?"
"Nothing else sir, thank you." Soren thanked the man before they parted ways.
"So summoning is today. I don't know how to truly feel about this. On the one side I get to see how this summoning thing would work, but on the other, I have already experienced it first-hand and whatever I see now, is just a rehash. Uhhh... Might as well check it out for the sake of it and after that, it's hunting time. Let's go Lavenza."
"Kyuu~" Lavenza seemed eager.
After the duo left the house, they decided to swim towards the church and thankfully, it was pretty easy to locate, since litterally everyone in the city were waiting there. After reaching it, the streets around it were full, like a packed shop in a black friday bargain event.
The church itself was actually massice, compared to the majority of the building he has seen. The building itself was around 90 feet tall at its tallest point, while the traversable areas seemed to be up to the height of 60 feet or sonewhere around the 4th floor, with the exception of the 4 toweres on each corner of the building which were its tallest point. Design wise, the building also looked a lot like a catholic church so maybe the creator would be considered a genius for this kind of building, or he would be a European who reincarnated here or just happened to like Europian architecture.
Whem Soren amd Lavenza managed to squeeze through the crowd, they tried to enter, but they were stopped by a man in white metal armor. After they were stopped, the man said:
"Are you nobles?" The man asked expressionlessly.
"Ummm... No?" Soren said nervously.
"Do you have an invitation for today?"
"Are invitations required?" Soren said with a suprised look on his face.
"For today, yes."
"... I don't." Soren said dejected.
"Then don't bo-" *ring* *ring* *ring*
"Wait a minute kid." The man said before he picked up his phone.
"By the seems of it, I don't think we will be able enter inside. And to be honest, as much as I am interested in meeting the champion, I can always do that later in the future. Come on Lavenza. We have some-" Just as Soren was about to finish his sentence and leave with Lavenza, the man in the white metal armor stopped them and said:
"Wait, where are you going guys? I haven't finished saying what I had to say."
"What's the point of hearing of hearing the negative answer, when you already have it figured out?" Soren said expressionlessly.
"Then let me say what I have to say, then you are free to do what you want." The man said a bit nervously.
"Then say it." Soren said seriously.
"As I was saying, you shouldn't bother trying to enter if that is the case. But then, why did you lie to me, right now? You nearly put me in a whole lot of trouble there."
Soren was clearly confused. 'What the hell is this guy talking about? I clearly am no noble and I don't have any invitations with me as far as I know, so then, what is he thinking?' That was what he thought and decided to ask:
"Ummm... What do you mean? Because, as far as I know, I am no noble and I don't think I have received any invitation as far as I know. So what do you mean by "lying" ?"
"Well you do have an invitation. And you don't need to have any pieces of paper or whatever. As long as your name, job and apperance is in the invitation list, you are definitely invited. One of the higher-ups did so, since they immidiately recongised you."
Soren didn't know how to feel about this. He had a free invitation for god knows who, but he felt this was awfully convinient, almost too perfect to be true. Well, the fact that this was an official event, would mean that there would be a lot witnesses so if anything happened, everyone would notice, or at least, some people would, also he wanted to know the person who invited him.
"Can you at least say the name of the one who invited me, at least?" Soren decided to see of the guard would say the person whose eye catched him.
"Classified. So, can I have your information?" The man said monotonously.
'No dice, figures.' The plan was a bust, but he didn't feel very suprised.
"Name's Soren. I'm an adventurer. Not a part of a party." Soren then said the info.
"Let's see... Saleus... Sigurd... Ah here, Soren. Your job checks out and so does your appearnce as well." The man said.
"Can my little partner join me as well?" Soren asked curiously.
"By partner you mean...? The sea serpent?" The man asked curiously.
Soren nodded and then the man said:
"If she is with you, as long as she is under your supervision, she is free to join. But only her. No one else. Also any trouble that she creates, the responsibilty falls on you." He said seriously.
"I see."
After Soren said that, the man turned towards a man with a white robe and said:
"Can you take our esteemed guest towards his seat?" The armored man asked.
"Very well, where is his seat?" The robed man asked.
"C-23. That is his seat." The armored man answered.
"Follow me." The robed man said before he left with Soren and Lavenza.
