"Damn this guy is persistant. He JUST doesn't wiggling like a crazed eel." Soren said while he struggled to keep the assassin pinned down together with the guard.
"I HAVE dealt with way worse that THIS kid." The guard said a bit jokingly.
"Can anyone call any more guards right now? Or at least try to dogpile on the guy for now!" Soren said while trying to find a way pin down the assassin for a decent amount of time because even with the help of the guard, he still struggled to him down.
"I don't know any ways for pinning a man down. Sorry young man." The man with the cane said before putting the cane away.
"At least can you help us by keeping pinned this son of fish? Or even better, bring a guard, anyone does at this point." Soren said a bit angrily. He couldn't believe that this bunch of guys couldn't even bother trying.
'Damn, this bunch of guys are as useful as the stick I found in the wild. Damn, where are the damned guards.' Soren thought to himself while keeping the guy pinned down.
"LET ME GO YOU GODDAMNED BRAT!" The masked man said while struggling to get away from pinning of Soren and the guard.
"Can it, you oversided dust cloth." Soren shouted at the masked man.
"GOD DAMN, YOU WON ALREADY, JUST LET ME GO! MY ARMS ARE STARTING TO HURT A LOOOOOOAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!" The man screamed in pain when Soren twisted his arm.
"Like I would let away an assassin who tried to murder someone." Soren said seriously.
"Honestly can someone help already, what is taking you so-" Just as Soren was about finish his question, one of the nobles said:
"Sorry, but I don't intend to get myself dirty. Do that if you want to, but thus set of clothes costs a fortune and I don't intend to even touch a pebble of the ground, even if it killed me." One of the other noblemen said.
"I'm sorry kid but I don't have the physical power to do that." Another nobleman said.
"Same reason as well." A noblewoman said this time.
"I'm too a-afraid of murderers to e-even t-try to h-help." Another nobleman was hiding behind a chair together with a couple of others.
All the other noblemen had excuses to not even get close to them, let alone help them.
"I'm too old to even help. I may able to pull of a couple moves in battle, but I'm not in prime anymore. I'm over 170 years old and you should know that my bones are barely holding my body from collapsing. Can't you help my little girl?" The noble man who helped Soren said.
"I'm sorry but I can't help as well. My only binding spell affects the target and everyone that touches him so that would bind you guys as well, but he would also be the one to break free first, due to the fact that he shrugged off my slow spell within a couple of seconds, when it was supposed to last for an entire minute." The woman explained.
"Kyuu~..." Lavenza was also dejected. She also wanted to help, but she couldn't.
Soren felt like he had abandoned at this point. To think no one of the nobles would be able to help, he felt like he dhould have expected that, but felt pretty disappointed as well when his allies couldn't help.
"Tsk. Guess then it up to the two of us guard." Soren said dejectedly.
Although the two of them could still keep the assassin pinned down a little bit more, Soren's hands were starting to feel numb bit by bit. He knew he wouldn't be able to keep him down and if he escaped right now, this could spell disaster.
"Uhhh... Guys, can you let me go already? My arms are numb and I really want to pee." The pinned down man said.
"Like I would believe you. I would prefer to tango with an angry Leviathan rather than to let a murderer like you escape." Soren said angrily.
"And what does "tango with an angry leviathan" mean kid?" At that point, a woman with blue hair and a veil in her face said, right within the middle of the crowd on the platform.
"Your Holiness!?" One of the noblemen said before he bowed down immidiately. Soon enough, most of the nobles did, including the old man and the woman who helped. Then the woman said:
"Release the man. There is no need to be so much on edge." The way she said it, had an elegant expression on it.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Soren asked while having his doubts. Releasing an assassin? This idea was nearly ridiculous.
"Just do it." At that moment, the woman said with a domineering voice. Soren felt like if he resisted, things would be dire. At that moment, both Soren and the guard release the pinned down man. The moment the man got released, he took off his mask and his face showed a man with red hair and had slightly kid like characteristics.
At that moment, Soren felt like he had seen that man before, but he couldn't remember from where or when.
"Ouch. Honestly, I didn't expect any jointlocks like this. Miss, may you, please, inform me of this before you assign me these kinds of missions? I nearly lost an arm for nothing." The man had an annoyed expression but still spoke politely.
"Even though I'm the Arch-Priestess that has brought many heroes and prevented a lot of unforseen disasters, I am not omniscient. There are still things hidden within the unseen eye." The woman spoke with an emotioneless, yet elegant voice.
"For now, I'll have to ask you to leave, since there is no more business to be done here. The hero won't be waking up anytime soon anyways, so it is better for you to leave. Everyone else has already been notified a while ago, so you are the last people waiting in here." The Arch-Priestess said to everyone else this time.
"I see. Thank you for your information, Your Holiness." The old man said before he left with the other nobleman following begind him.
'Finally we get to leave.' Soren thought to himslef while feeling relieved. He didn't want to spend anymore time in this building, after what he went through.
"Come on Lavenza. We got a hunt to do." Just Soren was leaving, the Arch-Priestess grabbed him by the back part of the collar on his armor and said:
"And where do you think you are going, tango boy?"
At that moment, Soren was caught completely off guard by the Arch-Priestess' actions. 'What does this woman want? Maybe she want to talk about Lavenza? But it could also be about me nearly twisting the guy's arm.' These kinds of thoughts were going through Soren's head while she was grabbing him by the collar before he asked politely:
"May I ask about the reason you re-" Just as Soren was about to finish his sentence, the woman suddenly spoke:
"Uhhh... Finally those headache-inducing guys left the area." The way she spoke was completely casual and felt like it was downright vulgar compared to before, like everything she showed before, was a complete lie.
"Miss, do you really need to go this far for testing the boy? You could always just make an excuse and have one of our priests fight him." The man with the red hair spoke.
"Come on Toby, don't be such a stick in the mud. If you want to test someone, you have to test them from every angle, from the way he deals with it, to the ways he reacts and expresses himself. You should know better that a man's true nature always comes in the face of an emergency. And you saw it better than anyone. The kid is selfless or should I say, near reckless and the very few who tried to help, couldn't. And eveyone else just didn't give a damn. This shows that the kid has earned both, yours and my, seals of approval." The woman explained casually.
Both Soren and Lavenza were left speechless. This was the Arch-Priestess in front of them and she acted like an agressive woman you would find anywhere. Considering the fact that she also has an obsession with her own children, Soren felt a chill down his spine just thinking about what would happen if this woman found out that Lavenza was her daughter.
"Alright, I will admit that the kid has, definitely, the good kind of character and the skills to back up his courage, but why? Why do this in the first place?" The man with the red hair asked with an annoyed expression on his face.
Soren and Lavenza were confused as well. They felt completely lost to the situation and couldn't even say anything at this point. They felt like they were forced to go along with the woman's whims and they couldn't do anything about it.
"Well... You know what? Let's go eat something first, since I'm hungry right now. I'll explain during the meal, the rest." The Arch-priestess answered back before she started swimming towards the hallway.
The three of them felt like a huge headache was coming and it wouldn't be leaving anytime soon.
"Forgive me for having you go through all this." The man with the red hair said apologeticly.
"It's alright. It's not as if I could defy a word from Her Holiness, herself." Soren said with a slightly sour expression on his face.
"Kyuu~..." Lavenza also had a sour expression as well.
"I don't think I have caught your name sir." Soren then decided to ask for the man's name.
"Oh, where are my manners. Let me introduce myself. I am one of the 7 bishops that work under the current Arch-Priestess. Bishop Tobias of the 3rd order, at your service. But for this occasion, you may call me Toby." Toby answered politely.
