After the spell was lifted, Soren noticed that there was a slight noise in the background, unlike when he was talking with Laventhign. 'Turns out it really was a spell that created an area where noise didn't pass through.' Soren thought.
"By the way, do you always use that kind of spell?" Soren asked curiously.
Laventhign wasn't suprised by the question, on the contrary, she was expecting it and answed:
"Only on certain occasions."
"Occasions?" Soren asked curiously again.
"Let's just say for now, that this was that certain occasion." Laventhign answered with a happy expression on her face.
Soren was a bit confused for the "occasions" but he figured that he wouldn't be able to ask more about them. So he decided to change the topic a bit.
"Then, can you tell me how to cast that silent zone spell?" Soren asked.
"What?" Laventhign was suprised. She didn't expect him to ask for magic spells, since these kinds of things could be easily learned by the age of 10.
"Don't you know how to use magic?" Laventhign asked with a suprised expression.
"I mean, aside from pouring mana, I don't know much about magic." Soren answered seriously.
At that moment, Laventhign breathed a sigh of relief, because she had never seen someone to not be able to use magic and it would have been considered abnormal. Pouring mana was an elementary skill that was required to use all magic items, so not having that ability is equal to being crippled.
"I see. Don't worry, that type of spell isn't hard. As long as you know how to manipulate the mana around you and a little bit of wind magic, you should be good to use that spell. It just takes a little bit of imagination to do that, but after you do it once, you will be able to do it for your entire life." Laventhign explained with a calm expression on her face.
"I see. Thank you for the inforamtion." Soren said politely. The fact that spell just required to pour mana, some wind magic and imagination. The question for Soren now is, how do i make this work?
So for starters, he decided to try and use mana in a different way. So far, he had only managed to use mana in two ways, pouring it from his hand and covering his hand with it. Now though, he needed to find a way to do it, so he started pouring mana out of his hand. This time, he didn't imagine it just leaving out of his hand or covering his hand with it, he decided that the mana that left, would be compressed on a thin flat sheet.
Thankfully, after two to three minutes, he managed to create a thin sheet of mana that was around half a milimiter thick. Soren was a bit suprised that he managed to pull it off so quickly, he didn't expect to get it to pull it off immidiately. Laventhign howerver wasn't the least bit suprised. For her, this kind of stuff was considered elementary for the kids and it takes them just around 5 minutes or a bit longer to learn stuff like this.
Now that Soren managed to make it through this stage, he then wondered how would he be able to use wind magic. Unlike using mana itself, wind magic itself had elemental attributes and it wasn't as simple as just pouring mana. Then next course of action was, of course, to ask for more info.
"Ummm... How do I use wind magic?" Soren asked a bit nervously.
"Don't worry for this one. Just use some water magic instead of wind, since we are underwater. Wind magic is usually used on the surface but it isn't required. It is even possible with the other elements, but it's more optimal for the spell to be as unseen as possible." Laventhign explained.
'Wow. This woman may have a couple of screws loose, but man, does she make a good teacher.' Soren thought to himself. Now his next plan was to use water magic. He had seen water magic dozens of times thanks to Lavenza's magic, so he believed it wouldn't be hard. At first, Soren tried create a ball out of water, but the plan failed when it turns out it became just a normal mana ball. Then, he dissolved his mana ball and then tried the same thing, but instead of imagining it as being something warm, he imagined water was made in his hands and that said water was being gathered into a big ball. The end result was the one that Soren required, a water ball made out of mana. In reality he was a bit suprised that he actually pulled it off first time but he wasn't too suprised, since he knew that he had the highest affinity possible with water thanks to his blessing.
For Laventhign however, this a big shock. Unlike mana manipulation which can be done by anyone almost effortlessly, elemental magic was harder since it required to change mana itself, into a part of this world. Even for her, when she first started at that time, it took her at least a couple of days, despite the fact that she was considered a one in a thousand kind of genius in water. Yet, now she witnessed that this kid, that barely knew how to pour mana out of his hand, could use water magic it was nothing.
"Wow kid, didn't know you were a monster at water magic, you almost gave me a run for my money with your crazy talent. Are you sure you weren't lying to me? Because I can tell when someone is trying to bs me and usually that ends with the guy eating his own words, litterally." Laventhign said jokingly. She didn't want to show him the shock she was hiding, so she decided to put this front, so she could deceive him and hide the fact that she felt like she had the greatest shock of the year.
"There is no bs. Just pure talent and a good teacher." Soren decided to lighten the mood a bit with a joke. This blessing, in a way was a blessing, but it was also a curse, since all kinds of guys would want the the prodigy whose talent was leagues better than of those masters of magic. So the new thing he wouldn't show in front of anyone was the progression on water magic. 'Great, another thing in the great pile of "Hide it at all costs". ' Soren thought to himself while massaging his temples.
Then he decided for now to try that silent room spell for real. For starters, he dissolved the water ball and then focused. He needed to create a dome that would stop noise from going in and out. Thankfully, he remembered that noise itself was just sound waves, or rather, just normal waves that the ears receive and translate into messages for the brain. Hence, the only thing he needed to do was to make a dome made out of still water.
After he formulated his plan, he started focusing. His eyes started to shine blue and a thin layer of water in shape of a dome was being manifested in front of Laventhign and Toby. Both of them were pretty shocked. Toby had heard the conversation from before, but he was used to seeing prodigies so he didn't feel too shocked either. But now, they saw a young man using a spell that was used only 15 minutes ago, with the bare minimum of the required information. And he even pulled it off on his first try.
After a full minute, the dome manifested fully. It was around 8 feet tall and had a radius of around 6 feet. Soren was in the center of the inside and saw a thin dome made out of water that was as if it was made out of water that was frozen in time.It seemed like he had succeeded, but he needed to test it out if it actually worked, so he decided to scream his lungs out:
"GRASS IS BLUE!"
"I'M A TALL BLACK MAN!"
"I HAVE A 12 INCH... THING!"
Soren screamed the most random things he could think of, but he heard no response from them, despite the fact that their mouths were moving. After a bit, he dissolved the dome and finally heard voices again.
"Alright Arch-Priestess, I have seen you bring quite the weird crew over the past 100 years, but now you have really done it. You somehow managed to find the one whose affinity would be unpararelled even to the gods. If this gets out, you know that things will get even wilder and this will bring a lot of unecssary trouble, not only for him, but for us as well." Toby was furious. He hadn't noticed that the barrier was down and Soren had heard a decent amount of what Toby said just now.
"And what might that "unnecessary trouble" be?" Soren asked with a serious expression while he had crossed his hands.
At that moment, Toby felt like he put his tail in his mouth this time and fell silent for a moment.
"Nothing for you to know." Laventhign then shot down Soren's question instantly.
"Anyways, so did you manage to hear the things I said from inside the dome or not?" Soren had asked before out of curiosity and wanted to put that serious front just to mess with them a bit, but now he was fully serious.
"The spell was decent, if only the dome was a bit thinner, then it would have been perfect." Laventhign answered back.
'Can't win them all. But hey, at least I pulled it off first try.' Soren thought to himself proudly. If others could read his mind, they would definitely vomit their blood. After that little bit of noise from the grown ups, Lavenza started waking up from her sleep, feeling completely refreshed.
"Kyuu~?"
At that moment, Toby, Soren and Laventhign heard Lavenza's voice, they turned their heads towards her direction and saw that she was half hidden under the blankets.
"How did you get yourself in that position little girl?" Soren asked jokingly. In the next moment though, no one expected Lavenza's next response, or words to be exact.
"Reny~!" Lavenza shouted with enthusiasm.
