Chapter 22 - Hidden Attack

As the Hydra was constricting itself around Dante neither of them were aware of what Nadia was doing. Dante could hear the sound of his bone-breaking as the Hydra got tighter around his body. He had a slight problem he was starting to run out of mana, and he needs a certain amount in order to escape. He was unsure if he could fend it off without running out of the needed amount of mana.

But Dante did know that if he didn't stop the Hydra from constricting him he was going to die or really pass out from lack of oxygen and the pain before he had the chance to escape. He had no plans on dying know that he learned his daughter was alive and relatively well. Dante then realized an expanding electric field from his body then out forcing the Hydra to stop its attack.

Dante fell to the ground gasping at this moment finally getting a chance to breathe again. At this point, he was panting not just from nearly suffocating but also due to exhaustion and the large amount of mana he's had to use at this point. Dante was open for another attack at this point and completely helpless to do anything as the Hydra charge towards him.

At that moment Nadia released that arrow letting it fly. The arrow flew towards the Hydra that made its way towards Dante and priced it straight through the neck and into the ground. The Hydra let out a screech as the arrow hit it. Nadia quickly and quietly fell to her knees and hide behind the concert railing holding the bow to her chest.

The Hydra looked around trying to place where the sudden attack came from. The screech of the Hydra shocked Dante enough that allowed him to move normally again as adrenaline begun to course through his veins. He looked at the arrow that was in the ground, it was a normal arrow no magic or anything.

The Hydra had no clue what exactly happened, as it couldn't see the arrow but Dante knew that Nadia just saved him. Dante grabbed a small vial from his pocket tarring the cap off with his mouth spitting it out on the ground before pouring the contents down his throat shaking his head a little due to the taste. Lightning began to crackle at his fingertips then shot it at the Hydra turning its attention to him once again to give Nadia a chance to move from her spot that was given away.

A sword forming in his hand once again he began to fight the Hydra again. As the two did that Nadia looked at the reflection of the fight in the sliding glass door seeing that the Hydra was no longer looking in her direction. Nadia slung the bow over her shoulder and made her way over to the sliding door pulling it open slowly allowing her room to crawl through with the bow closing the door behind her. She leaned against the glass letting out a deep breath she didn't realize that she was holding in. She placed her head against the glass causing a soft thump noise in the process.

She could tell didn't stand a chance against the Hydra at this point in time. She could sense that no problem the imminent sense of death and the feeling of pressure the moment she went out onto the balcony to fire the arrow. Her body told her to run but she fought against every instinct to do that and she planned to do that again.

Nadia stretches up from the ground and locked the sliding door before making her back to her bedroom. She looked out the window at her father who still fought against the Hydra again. She looked over at her dresser for a minute then paused remembering something her father mentioned earlier. She clicked her tongue realizing she shouldn't use either of the two things she was planning. She turned around and went back out into the hallway and pulled down the attic stairs.

The attic was much smaller than what it should be for the house but there was a reason for that. She crawled through the attic and over to the small window. She placed her hand on it and opened it removing the window entirely. She could look out the window see the fight still going on. She couldn't stand up or do a regular form to use the bow again but she had limited options right now.

Nadia pulled another arrow pulling it back with a little difficultly due to her posture. After aiming down at the Hydra she fired another arrow. This arrow went through the Hydra's neck and continued for a bit till it went into the dirt. Nadia hid out of the view of the window after releasing the arrow. But she didn't really have to worry much as Dante made sure to not give the Hydra a moment's rest as he slashed it across the chest.

Nadia looked down at her right arm that sting from the string grazing along with it. She moved her wrist slightly to make sure she could still move it. Making sure her hand was alright she grabbed another arrow. She shot once again the fletching slicing her figure a little in the process.

Nadia ignored the pain and just kept backing up Dante with the occasional arrow taking off a little pressure from him. After 3 minutes of this, her forearm and fingers were red from blood and had used a fair number of arrows at this point. Dante then made a motion telling Nadia to stop so she returned the bow to resting position. She put the window back and made her way back to her bedroom.

At this moment as Nadia was getting back knowing she needs a moment to set up things Dante threw a few metal spheres at the Hydra hitting it in the chest and arm pinning it to the ground again. Nadia looked out her bedroom window in time to watch Dante start the process to escape this world.

In the air, Dante drew a magic circle doing this so Nadia would know how to escape the main way everyone else did. The magic circle when done begun to glow then the area seen through the circle begun to crack and as if it was glass then the circle remained a solid glowing colour at the moment Dante jumped into it and disappeared. With that, it was like a wave washed over the place as things went back to how it was before the fight except for Nadia and the Hydra that remained.

"'Aaaah the magic-user escaped… but there is someone else here. Now, where are they? The once attacking me in secret.'" The Hydra growled as it looked toward the house. Nadia felt her heart leap into her chest. She knew she could just act as nothing happened, she was still bleeding from the fight. If it could smell it will know even if it couldn't see her.

She looked around her room looking for a place to hide and noticed the gap under her bed. It was small but it would work for what she wanted to do. Nadia raced over to the bed getting the ground and begun to force herself through the small opening scratching her back arms and chest slightly in the process. She turned around to face the opening she fit through when she heard the door of the house slam open. She could sense the Hydra's pressure right away and she covered her mouth to stop herself from making any really loud noise. 'I may not care whether or not I die in this life but I don't want to die like this.' Nadia thought as she could hear the Hydra make its way through the house.

The Hydra eventually made its way to Nadia's bedroom. The door made a slight creak as it opened and the Hydra walked in. The pressure she felt from the Hydra at this moment made it difficult for her to breathe. Its nails clicked again on the floor as it walked eventually ending up at the foot of the bed exactly where Nadia's hiding place entrance was. She could see the Hydra's large claw right in front of her.

The Hydra then notice something on the ground a string. It began to bend down towards the hole which would give it full view of her. Nadia could hear the creaking of the bed and felt the pressure increase so she knew she was in big trouble.

Right when the Hydra was about to be able to see her when something fell in another room. The Hydra stood up and raced over there but found nothing. "'Must have escaped how annoying.'" The Hydra growled before leaving the house slamming the door behind it.

Nadia waited a few minutes before she felt safe enough to leave from under the bed. She sat down on the bed looking at her hand shaking slightly. 'I can't believe that pressure. It was terrifying thinking what it is capable of here.' Nadia muttered looking at her hand. Her hand with was above her face was still cut and bleeding and had some blood dropped onto her face. 'I should go deal with my injuries since it's safe now.'
