Akiko had followed Nadia inside and when the door closed behind him he couldn't help but voice his concerns. "Master are you sure about this place? That human ran quite fast after taking the payment."
"It should be alright though I'm concerned since we didn't sign any papers. I don't believe they ran because it's a fake deal or anything like that. No, I believe that there is another reason, the same reason people have yet to buy this place before us."
"What reason is that?"
"The slums. This place is very close to the slums making it dangerous especially when it's close to night time."
"If you knew this why did you buy it?"
"Cause though dangerous at night mid-day is fine. People likely try to break in as it turns to night. But we don't have to worry about that."
"Wait why not?"
"Magic, I know how to create a security formation. It will prevent those with bad intentions from entering unless I choose otherwise. It will be my first time casting this but I know and understand the basic theory for it." Nadia told him. 'I only know much of the basics of every spell cause of the council. As a sorceress, I'm lacking as there is a lot I still need to learn. Winging it won't cut it forever.' She thought.
Nadia then went around drawing sigils in a few hidden locations before activating the spell and managing to create a successful security/protection barrier around the place. "See done wasn't too bad."
"Mmm, Next time you'll need to mask your spells when you cast. Especially when casting in town. We should be alright for now but others will be able to sense that if they are in town. And if we are unlucky a swordmaster might have been able to sense it. Basically the only thing that wouldn't know about the fact a spell was cast would be the average populace."
"Oh…"
Nadia knew of at least one magic-user in town, and it was very likely that there are more mages than just that man. She couldn't help but bite her lip in the Empire she knew there was a swordmaster they don't live in Fairos but that didn't mean he couldn't be in the town at this time. "I understand. I apologize I didn't know about that."
"It's fine you know for next time I'm sure you get why I'm concerned though."
"I do… would you be able to teach me how to hide my casting?"
"Sigh… if it was another familiar they probably wouldn't be able to, you lucky. Since it means life or death we'll start right away." Akiko stated Nadia nodded in agreement.
As he said Akiko started to teach Nadia how to hide the spell when castings that spell not taking any time of rest. It wasn't something crazy just really an additional step needed when casting so it took them the rest of the day and into the night for Nadia to be able to cast hidden spells that were hard to detect. "Hahaha! I got it finally! It took the rest of the day but it's good in the long run." Nadia exclaimed in relief managing to successfully cast a hidden spell.
"For more complicated and high-grade spells it will be a little harder but with the basics, you'll be able to figure it out."
"That's fine you teaching me the basics is a big help. If you didn't it's hard to say what would happen later on."
Suddenly Akiko put his hand up and it wasn't long after that Nadia also noticed that someone was nearby. Nadia brought her hand up touching the magic sword necklace summoning it to her hand holding it ready in her hand. Nadia could feel the slight crackle of her magic stopping the person from entering. Nadia looked over at Akiko and he nodded in agreement. The two of them then went and hid from sight Nadia completely suppressing her presence as she hid.
The door nob turned and not long the door opened before a mask-wearing individual walking into the room. Nadia in her spot was able to get a good look at the person that walked in. When she saw the person Nadia realized who it was right away. She wasn't too pleased but knew it might happen when Akiko told her others could sense what she cast earlier and especially when the two were practicing how to cast a hidden spell not too long ago.
Nadia secretly undid the transformation on herself turning her physical body back into Evangeline. The masked individual then turned to the place that Akiko was hiding. "I know you are there come out." They said pointing their staff in Akiko's direction.
"Akiko had little options so he stepped out from where he was hiding. "What do you want?" Akiko asked clearing at the man in front of him.
"I wanted to see the idiot that was using magic unrestricted in the city. You realized there are others hiding out here right if you don't knock it off you'll tip them off and expose everyone. As such for the safety of every mage in the town I must kill you as a per-caution."
At that moment Nadia stepped out and held her sword to his neck. There was a height difference but the sword was still aimed at vitals. "Well, I'm not about to let that happen." Eva reapplied sternly as her hand remained steady and they glanced back at her noticing her small figure and voice. "You don't have to worry about it happening again. The first time was an accidental mistake and the last few times were lessons on the technique to hide it."
"So you're the one that did that."
"Correct I was trying to be safe. But I was unaware of the situation here and just used the magic. Such as issue won't happen again I can promise you that much. So no need to worry about other mage's or your own safety being at risk in this city beast mage." Eva added looking at the man behind her fox mask.
"How did you…"
"I can sense it easily while we are this close. But that's not the important part. Now put your staff down or I'll slit your throat the moment you try to attack him."
Nadia was partially lying, though she was capable of sensing his magic that wasn't how she knew he was as he was a 'beast' mage, she knew this from the game. She also learned from the council that magic was a little weird in this world. In another world when you could use magic normally you had a set element or would eventually specialize in a certain magic aspect later on very similar to modern schooling. That wasn't the case here one could only use what is called a specialization magic type.
In this world magic users here normally are only capable of using magic from 1 of 5 specialization magic types.
Elemental: These are mages that are capable of casting magic of a certain element of the 4 elements, they are range magic users.
Augmenters: They are mages that can cast magic on themselves and on an item, they are more close to mid-range fighters.
Supportive: Mages that are capable of casting buffs, debuffs on others, and also capable of casting healing magic. They are range magic uses that require protection as they are not normally good in combat.
Artisans: These are magic users that are capable of permanently enchanting, improving, or enhancing items, they are typically none-combative magic users.
Control: These are mages that are good at controlling other, animals, or things, they are capable of having familiars [thought like the other worlds a magic-user can only have a certain number of familiars based on mana and magic power]. They are capable of fighting in any position however they are the rarest kind of mage in this world.
In this world, the only ones capable of using any kind of magic no matter the specialty are direct descendants of the royal family of Rivera, who are also the only ones in this ear of the world capable of using Ancient magic. Ancient magic is different from the common magic of today and what people in this world could currently use to put it simply. The magic that was cast over Rivera was ancient magic.
The man clicked his tongue and lowered his staff. "Good. Actually you coming here might be a stroke of luck for me. We need your services actually."
"What services would that be?"
"Don't play coy. We need your information services. I'm aware you are the guild leader of the information guild Venomlight. There are a few things I need information on some of which are difficult to find out through normal means." Eva replied the moment she mentioned the guild she saw the man stiffen. "Got your attention now. First to make sure you are as good as the rumours say. I'd like for you to tell me of the location of an ore mine, but not just any ore. The ore needs to be strong and yet easy to forge." Eva added removing the blade from his neck.
"I got it. I'll send you the information in a few days."
"Lovely also if you happen to bring the information and we happen not to be here leave it inside the building."
"Right… But I'm warning you. If you cast magic like that again and almost reveal us I will kill you next time."
With that he left the building slamming the door behind him, leaving Akiko and Nadia alone in the building. Nadia transformed back looking over at Akiko knowing he was just itching to ask her, "who was that?"
"Yasin, leader of the information guild Venomlight. He takes in orphaned child mages of this town to protect and attempt to teach them to hide from the Empire."
"So that's why you did that. To make him hesitate."
Nadia smirked as she removed the fox mask. "Exactly his biggest weakness if child mages." Nadia paused. "He is also someone that could possibly become an enemy and danger to me in the future."
