They entered the house with Nadia quickly locking the door behind them and closing/covering all the windows with the only source of light being the orb of foxfire that Akiko made the moment the window closed. Nadia like a candle or two that was around in the room as Akiko she the kid down on a table Nadia pulled over with magic. Nadia went over to the kid she looked at the injuries in a little more detail though it was a little difficult in candlelight.
"Akiko a few more orbs please it's not easy to get the full scope like this." Nadia asked as she looked at the kid. A few more orbs of light appeared and Nadia was able to get a little better look at the injuries. 'The potion worked quite well stopping the internal bleeding but it couldn't heal some of the breaks. Though not as strong as I'd hoped is defiantly better than what currently on the market. Magic is truly quite useful if it can produce potions like this. I wonder to what extent. Well, that's something for another day. The potion wasn't able to heal some of the really bad injuries just lessen it. I should be able to heal them right up.' Nadia thought planning to use healing magic for the first time following one of the magic theories and spells that the council had taught her the first time they met many of which Nadia had yet to really try out.
Nadia began to write out the runes in the air with a masking technique Akiko taught her to heal the kid, after writing a fair amount being very precise she chanted a few words before setting the runes on the child, a white glow then began to cover the kid's body for a moment before it disappeared. "There you should be all better now. I've set things back in place and healed it so everything should be all good."
"Why'd you help me? You didn't need to, I can't even pay you or anything."
"Ummmm. I'm not saying I did this from the goodness of my heart, but I'm not looking for you to pay me back with money, what I used on you are things I made so I can't really give you a price." Nadia replied as she shook her head.
"there must be something."
"I can think of something but first let's finish the talk from earlier. That girl Evangeline is she a big figure in the slums or something?"
"No, I heard a few different reasons. But Evangeline and her mother are protected by one of the big clans that run the slums here. Under the heads and many big shoots protection as such, she's pretty well known apparently they did a number of things. But that wasn't the reason they are protected apparently. I only heard rumours but apparently her mother saved the boss from death or something and later subsequently many of the other big shots as well. The two are seen as a family in the group or something."
"That so… do you have any affiliation with that group?"
"No… not yet too young they say."
Nadia paused thinking as she remembered there was a name that was mentioned in the journal on one of the few pages that talked about the time before the loop. They were names that Nadia didn't recognize from the game meaning they appeared in the part she didn't play or never appeared.
However, there was a more pressing matter that Nadia had to deal with than figuring out the clues that have been scattered out before her. It was something that was essentially life or death considering the place she was currently staying. "Now I must ask what are you going to do now that you know I'm a mage?"
The kid looked shocked at Nadia's sudden dark and oppressing tone. It was a serious issue since there is the possibility of a monetary reward if you send in a mage to the empire. "N-nothing! The slums or really the group I'm an apprentice for works with mages. Hiding them and all that with the information guild Venomlight. I'd nave rat you out for that and you being my saviour as well I don't dare even think of it." The kid exclaimed in a panic.
"I see… honestly kid you should be more careful of the information you let slip. If I was just tricking you you gave me a fair amount of damming information. Anyways I thought of what you can do for me. That group take me to them."
"What?! Are you crazy? Even if I respect them and such it doesn't mean much. They are still dangerous, someone like you… well, they might just kill you."
"These are the ones that have a good feeling for Evangeline yes?"
"They are."
"Then I'll be fine."
After a few minutes of a back and forth the kid realized that no matter what they said Nadia was not about to back down on this. "… fine. If you're so set on it it's your funeral."
"I understand now let's go."
"Wait now?"
"Yes."
"But it's nearing… never mind. You won't listen to reason."
With that Nadia and Akiko left the house once again following a kid to the slums. The time they left was just a little after mid-day so it was possible that in the end, it will be night when they make their return but even knowing this Nadia was not deterred. She had a feeling this was an opportunity that she couldn't pass up.
The further into the slums they went the more eyes Nadia could feel on her and they were on her for a wide array of reasons not many of them good. The kid thought Nadia was arrogant misjudging the slums. That wasn't really the case it was more due to the fact she wasn't afraid. She was aware of how places like this could be in her world, having to experience in person a handful of times some time ago so she knew full well the dangers she could face going to a place like this. Especially when dressed in such a fashion, those that wore disguises are those that have something to hide, are well known or have money. Nadia was essentially all three currently.
