Chereads / The 13th Loop (Halted) / Chapter 35 - Evangeline

Chapter 35 - Evangeline

"It's been quite some time ago that Evangeline's souls shattered from my knowledge that I was informed and learned. It's been even longer since she was first killed and, at that moment, when she was killed it spelt doom for this world and near doom for many others. The Niukyu nearly managed to escape and break the seal that this world is guarding. The Council of world magic, or just the Council of magic cast a powerful spell together onto this world just in time to prevent the collapse of the seal. It was a time spell and they placed Evangeline at the very centre of this spell since she is the only person on this world that could stop it.

"With Evangeline, there were 2 contingencies, if Evangeline dies it returns to a certain point, and if there is a full complete loop from the point that she died unable to prevent the near release of the Niukyu on the day the sun disappears or that's what I've been informed is the case.

"The time loop spell happened sometime after Eva's death. As such according to the council when the first-ever loop occurred bring their soul back from the dead with awareness of what happened. Due to that Eva's soul had become very weak and fragile since they remembered dying, and it got worse after each reverse from death till eventually making it to the endpoint of her last life. However, despite what she did to try and changed things, but the result was still the same and she died. Dying at this point though starts the loop all over again.

"That death was the breakpoint as Eva's soul then fragments and shatters with the pieces flying off. The council was at a loss they now had a soulless body on their hands, they couldn't allow the Niukyu to succeed but with a soulless body, they couldn't start a new loop. It was a problem.

"They could freeze time momentarily but not forever as it wasn't feasibly possible. They initially thought that Eva's soul disappeared, but they eventually found out that was not the case. As such, they devised a plan before they could no longer freeze time here. They brought people from other worlds to stall or break the time loop and stop the Niukyu from breaking the seal. That continued to happen till we reached this point in which it brought us to meet."

"Loops… so we've been stuck in a time loop then, that would explain that oddity we noticed but no one else."

"Pardon?"

"The two of us have been experiencing a feeling of extreme déjà vu and such but no one else has noticed. But we both found that we knew that we needed to find Princess Evangeline."

"… Odd. Maybe… just maybe it's that skill that allowed you to see me. It doesn't let you remember everything that happened, but you'll get a sense of déjà vu."

"So what loop is this then?"

"The 13th."

"So, you're Evangeline but at the same time not."

"Correct"

"So would your plan even be possible?"

"Yes. Though I get your concern. You have no need to worry."

"So, what you are saying is that Eva the one we knew has already died in the sense of spirit. However due to being the only one that could stop the Niukyu's plan this apparent council of magic is using her body. This eventually lead you here to this point."

"Pretty much yes. Damn, why am I so bad at simplifying things. I always overcomplicate and give too much detail."

"If that's the case then who are you? Since I don't think your name is Evangeline now is it."

"Ah me?! Wait you want to know about me now? You want to know my name?"

"Yes, but make it short this time."

"Hahaha, right"

"My name is Nadia Luna-La Fey a high Fea with a human mage father. I'm the next head of the La Fey clan, and a powerful mage."

"So, you're a noble."

"Pretty much."

The old man and the Boss looked at one another for a moment. "Though it explains a few oddities that have occurred recently. How can we believe what you are saying is true? For all we know you are lying and just a new kind of Niukyu that has a more human form."

"I'm pretty sure that's impossible."

"How can, we be sure. Why you said it extremely hard to believe."

"But would someone come up with something so complicated? Sigh… I have no idea how you see me or whatever, but I do not really have much proof. After all, it's not like I can leave this body. My actual body is in my world. Like what physical proof do I have that shows what I'm saying is true." She then paused. "Wait I just thought of something! A mirror I need a mirror!"

Eva held out her hand as a modern pen appeared in her hand, she grabbed a blank piece of paper and then quickly wrote down a few common words. She lifted the piece of paper and showed it to them. "This is my handwriting style. Admittedly it is a little sloppy but, in my world, people don't write things down physically much anymore." Eva huffed as she looked around for a mirror.

"There's a mirror here." The old man told her as he removed a sheet that was covering the large fully-sized mirror.

"Good. There are a few things I have a prove first! I am not sure if you are aware, but the Niukyu don't have a reflection even when in a physical form. I learned that recently when I had a bit of a run-in. But that's not the only thing." Eva said as she walked over to the mirror. She looked into the mirror and began to look around in the reflection. Nadia couldn't help but let out a hum as she found what she was looking for.

Nadia placed her hand on the mirror at the very beginning her hand was against the cold hard reflective surface of the mirror. Then in a quick moment, Eva's silver eyes begun to glow and she began to enter the mirror itself. She continued walking forward into the mirror till she had fully stepped into the mirror. The two men could see Nadia inside the mirror, she began to stand up straight stretching out as she turned her head around looking back at them over her shoulder and smirked. Nadia no longer looked like Evangeline rather she looked like she really did back on her world though her green hair had a blue tint to it currently.

Nadia looked at them with her two-coloured eyes as she pushed her hair back from the eye that she was hiding. After looking at them Nadia continued walking further into the mirror world. She walked over to the desk and grabbed a hold of an oh-so-familiar glowing book. The book that she had been reading often in her spare time recently.

Holding on to the clearly unique book which was not in the room. Nadia made her way back towards the mirror. Placing her hand on the mirror once more her eyes glowed once again as she began to walk back through returned to normal. However, in the reflection, though Nadia's reflection didn't change and still looked like she does physically in this world, in her hand the book that she was clearly holding had no reflection.

"Now look at this! This is true proof that what I'm saying is true. Though I'm unsure what you can read, and I wouldn't normally go this far to prove myself. However, I need people like you on my side proving me aid." Eva explained she brought her thumb to her mouth and bit down hard drawing blood. She allowed a drop of her blood to hit to cover of the book before opening it and handing it to them.

Though the book was still hiding some information the stuff inside the book that they could read was extremely telling. In the book, there were 13 different styles of handwriting inside which they could see. Nadia then handed them her handwriting sample that she wrote earlier; her handwriting was the last and latest entries in the book. Not only that some of the entries on the occasion that they could read had dates. Each one of them were either on the same day with the following entries spanning years later to what would be their future. Each prior entry with the date did this except for Nadia which was made a few days prior not long after the incident with the dark land.

"This is what I've taken to calling the loop dairy. It's the only item that is completely unaffected by the time loop. Apparently, Evangeline was given this magic book by the being that the council calls the Mythical two-eyed Queen. Or at least what she wrote of the person slightly matched the description of what the council told me they looked like."
