A week has passed in the dark land, Nadia was sitting down in the computer scrolling through blueprints and theories. She hummed looking over them understanding and committing it to memory. For her this entire time she used it as a moment to learn anything she could use in this other world to make a large amount of money. 'I need money for my big plan… that plan not just escaping from the duke's place. I can use the dark land to my advantage but I shouldn't come here all that often only when needed. That fight on the first day almost getting caught by that hunter told me that this place is extremely dangerous and I shouldn't become lenient or truly carefree while I'm here. As at any moment, it is possible for me to get killed.'
'Though I have little care for my current life I do not wish to lose any chance I have in getting a new life… to be reborn again.' Nadia leaned back in her chair her arm over her face letting out a sigh. 'Let's just think about what I have to do next I've memorized the plans and took a picture of them… though it was kinda pointless to take a picture of them since…'
Nadia spun the chair around and stood up and made her way over to the kitchen. She opened the fridge and pulled out some juice. She grabbed a cup and quickly downed the drink. She paused for a moment, "yeah that's not enough." She put the glass down and went over to her mini-fridge. She opened the door and looked inside before grabbing a vodka cooler. She hummed as she opened the can and begun to drink in. "Aaahh I'm so going this when I go back they don't have vodka like this… or really any of the kinds of alcohol I enjoy. All they have is beer and wine that is very… plain. Sigh, they don't even have whiskey." Nadia muttered in annoyance. As she went back over to her desk and begun to scroll through machine blueprints she could feasibly make.
'What I'll do when I get back is get two or 3 outsourced servants to work of me and not the duke'd. I can not trust servants supplied by the duke, because of Eva's adoptive brothers… not to mention all the other servants in the mansion hate Eva as well. I'll also buy my temporary store and secondary house. Make the connection to the hunted magic users eventually. Yes, that will work… there is a lot I need to do before I leave the duke's residence. I wonder how long I'll be there. Hmmm hard to say well it's nothing that I should be worried about in all honestly.' Nadia grabbed a strand of her hair and begun to twirl it around her finger as she began to think about it. She shook her head letting going of her hair grabbing her drink.
She looked over at her notebook that was next to her keyboard letting out a slight sigh as she sipped her drink, her black pen was resting on the paper it moved a little from the sight wind caused by the air conditioning. Leaning back in the chair she taped the can back and downed the remaining amount of the cooler before tossing it behind her into a bin. She got up and grabbed another drink before sitting back down at the computer typing.
Nadia put the pen behind her ear as she picked up her notebook filled with what almost looked like scribbles and drawing was actually noted on blueprints she had looked at, and some notes on how to make useful pharmaceuticals. Nadia even made notes on more herbs and uses. Everything would be capable of making her a large amount of money in the other world, and none of the things she planned on making was too incredibly advanced it was rather things that could have been made or discovered at the world's time period.
'Antibiotics, burn cream, anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers, headache medicine, flu medicine, indigestion, cold medicine, and pain killers. These general pharmaceuticals will be enough with herbal uses and traditional remedies that I know from this world. The additional basic beauty products as well the chemistry and medical side of things should make me a small fortune, then with the blueprints on the shock absorbers. Yeah, this should be enough for now.' Nadia hummed as she sipped her drink. 'I'll save some of the other things for a later date.' She closed her notebook and tossed her pen onto the desk as she closed the browsers with a cleared search history. As she was just about to get up from her chair her cellphone begun to ring, She looked at it for a moment before ultimately picking it up.
"Luna speaking."
"Boss. I know you are still in recovery after the accident but something happened and we need your final say in what happens."
"You're buttering me up, it must be bad then. Tell me, what is it, Carter?"
"One of our employees got into some trouble with the government."
"Broker side or Financial side?"
"Broker."
"Legal or…"
"The other."
"Sigh got it. How bad is it? What was the verdict?"
"Unsecured files, and loss of client data, Verdict licence revoked."
Nadia let a sigh escape from her lips. "Any action taken against us yet?"
"No."
"Any action by the government towards us?"
"No however they are keeping a close eye on us now."
"Of course they are. Well, to start we need to get in contact with the lawyers along with having to let that broker go. Have their superior inform them, and ask them what they wish to do with their book of business since it's highly likely they'll be unable to return to the field after this."
"Understood."
"Did they have any trainees or employee's under them?"
"2 trainees no employee's, they are relatively new to the company."
"… Right. Well, see if their superior can take them if not go up the chain. If no one can take the two I'll deal with them personally."
"Understood."
Nadia runs her hand through her hair noticing it to be a little greasy. 'I… need a shower. I've been so focused on my work that I've neglected showering again. I have a bad habit of getting too absorbed in my work that I neglect general personal care.' She thought as she felt and saw the greasy sheen on her fingertips. "Anything else of note Carter?"
"Nothing really, The companies general profit is up. A few more insurance companies have approached us looking to do business with us and the broker's with is good though they are waiting for your approval. On the financial side, the accountants have expanded to fit the need. All in all, things are well, though a few people were worried when you were in that accident things have settled down after your recovery."
"Have you got applicants for a new secretary for me to look over when I'm in?"
"Ah… you figured out."
"Of course. You, VP Carter, wouldn't be the one personally calling me if my secretary didn't die or at the very least get seriously injured and unable to work. That girl was oddly dedicated the number of times she worked when she was sick was a touch bit concerning, but she never left her job unmanned, she was quite the loyal and dedicated worker that one."
"So I gave it away right at the start."
"Just a little. Don't worry Carter I'm a big girl it was bound to be the case considering what happened there is nothing I can do about it. I trust you are handling everything with my absence?"
"Yes everything is alright you don't have to worry."
"I'm not worried I trust you. We started this company out together after all. I was only concerned if you were able to handle the sudden increase in your workload. After all the two of us never really had a 'peaceful' day."
"I'm managing… somehow. Though I am more than happy for when you get back. I knew you had a fair amount of paperwork and things to do but seriously."
"Hahaha! Well, you get used to it after a while. When it was the start I did have many sleepless nights to keep top of things."
"We both did… We've known each other for a few years now and honestly you still surprise me. If we didn't know one another from university I wouldn't believe what your real personality is. You somehow manage to step up to the challenge when needed."
"Hahaha! I know what you mean I'm more of bookie and silent person. But that doesn't mean it's impossible for me to be that leader of the company everyone currently knows… it's just tiring that's all."
"True though you still despise those high-class parties."
"Pff, of course, I'll never enjoy them they can be so annoying sometimes, but what can I do except suck it up and deal with it."
"Do feel guilty for surviving?"
"The plane crash… well I don't feel guilty in any sense that I feel I took another person's chance to live or anything. What happens, happens, death will occur as time goes on nothing I can do to really change that. The thing I do feel slightly bad for is my secretary. After all, she wasn't originally going to come with me on that business trip. But it's not like there is anything I can do about it."
"That's right."
"She was a good kid."
"She wasn't that much younger than you are."
"She's younger so she's a kid to me. Anyways I shouldn't keep you any longer, good luck with managing. Call me if anything big happens."
"Right have a good rest President."
Nadia rolled her eyes as she hung up the phone. The moment the call was ended she couldn't help but let out another sigh. She reaches over grabbing a hold of her drink before tipping it all back and making her way upstairs to her bedroom to take a shower. 'Things have been fairly uneventful since father left. Not that it's a bad thing. I just feel like this is just the temporary calm before the storm.'
