Chapter 1 - chapter 2

I yelled, "RUN ISAIAH!!!! RUUUUNNNNN!!!!" He jumps out of the car and grabs his backpack and begins running. There really is no safe place for us to go. "Mom we can't out run that. What are we going to do?" My son gives me the saddest look. I look all around us and then I say, "Run to the pavilion. Hurry!"

We run and once we get there we sit by one of the poles and I take the rope out from Isaiah's backpack as fast as I can. As I'm tying us to the pole, I hear someone say, "Hurry, run!!!"

I yell back, "Come here, tie yourself up with us to the pole. Hurry its almost close." The woman and her daughter come and tie themselves with us, and then we brace for impact. I put Isaiah's head under me so that my body can protect him. The lady does the same to her daughter, that's when we feel the hard and very painful slap from the wave. Lucky for us that I packed an oxygen tank in Isaiah's backpack, so the kids are safe underwater. They don't have to hold their breath long.

Under water I'm looking around incase of any sharks or any other dangerous animals that can be lurking. Luckily I didn't see any. But what I did see was way worse. All of my townspeople, my friends, being tossed around underwater. It was so ugly. Being underwater felt like time was frozen, but it had only been a few minutes, when the water started to go down. I quickly begin to untie us, and we finally get our heads above water.

After taking a quick breather, I finally get a chance to get a good look at the woman that was with me. She's my neighbor, Iris.

"Thank you for saving us Vanessa. I don't know what would have happened to Gracie and I, had we not run into you guys." She says while coming up to me to hug me.

"No please don't thank me. I'm just glad that you guys are ok." I say while hugging her back.

"Hey Gracie, are you ok?" Isaiah asks while going up to Gracie who looks like she is in a state of shock. Which is completely understandable.

"Yyyyeah. Iiii think so. Thank you for sharing your face thingy with me." She says while holding on to her mom.

"Yeah no problem. Mom what the heck was all that?" Isaiah asks me.

I'm looking around to see if there is any one else alive, and I say, "I don't know son. This is just unbelievable. I mean we don't even live anywhere near water. Where the hell did this wave come from?"

"I don't know. But this definitely wasn't just any type of wave. That was a Tsunami." Iris says.

"That's true. But from what water source. I just don't get it. Ok enough about that we need to see if we can find any other survivor." I say and everyone agrees and we make our way towards the center of town.

There is nothing but dead bodies everywhere. I tried my best to cover Isaiah's eyes to prevent him from seeing this but, it is just to much. That's when we hear. "HELP! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP US!!!"

We follow the sound and we find Mr. and Mrs. Villarreal trying to help Mrs. Sanchez get her husband out from under a car. Mr. and Mrs. Villarreal are an older retired couple who are in their mid 60's and are former World War II Vets. Don't let the age full you, they like to keep in shape and look so much younger then what they actually are. And Mr. and Mrs. Sanchez are both cops and they are in their early 40's.

"We have to help them mom." Isaiah runs off to go help before I even have a chance to tell him anything.

"OK! On three 1, 2, 3!!!" Mr. Villarreal yells and is grunting along with the rest of us as we lift the car enough to have Mr. Sanchez roll out.

"OK, let me check you real quick. Don't want there to be anything broken." I say while I do a once over real quick. "OK, you seem to be fine."

"Thanks Vanessa. How are you guys doing? Are you guys ok?" Mrs. Sanchez asks while coming up to me to give me a thankful hug.

"We are fine, we tied ourselves to the poles over by the pavilion and that helped us a lot. Do you guys have any idea what happened?" I ask worried.

"No we were actually on our way to work when I was coming out to the car that's when it hit didn't even give me a chance to react." Mrs. Sanchez says, while looking around.

"We were out for our morning walk when it hit. We ran toward the Salinas' house and took cover there." Mrs. Villarreal said while squeezing out all the water from her hair.

"We were going to keep walking and try to find a working car or at least more survivors. If you guys aren't in to much pain." I say looking at them and they all agree to come and help us out.

"Its ok it doesn't hurt, I can walk." Mr. Sanchez says while fixing himself up.

Mr. and Mrs. Sanchez are former Military police. Once they finished their term they became the police officers of our small town. And then there is Mr. and Mrs. Villarreal they are retired Veterans. Both served in Vietnam Mr. Villarreal was a Marine and Mrs. Villarreal was a nurse. Now Mrs. Villarreal has become our unofficial nurse here in town, while Mr. Villarreal despite his age helps out the police and fire department.

"Guys look I think there is someone over here that need help!" I yell.

We all run toward the high school. And we see some kids there needing help.

"HEY!!!! IS THERE ANYBODY THERE? DO YOU GUYS NEED HELP?" Iris yells.

"YES!!! Please help me. My brother he's stuck. We can't get this board off of him."

When we get close I notice that its the Buckley twins.

"Ok guys lets lift one more time. Ready? One, two, three." I shout and all of us grunt the adults and the kids while we help Hannah Buckley get the board off of her brother.

"Oh my God, thank you guys so much. I thought that I was going to be stuck under there forever." Hunter Buckley said while getting up and shaking off all of the dirt from his legs.

"Don't worry guys. We got you now." I say as I try to help Hunter get up. "Do you guys see anything? Anybody else that may need help, or that may be of help?"

"No nothing... wait hold on I think I see something. There is a car coming our way. No... wait... cars are coming our way." Isaiah says.

We all look and see 2 big black SUV's coming our way. Everyone begins to cheer.

"Hell yeah!!! We are being rescued." Hunter says. Then a bunch of guys come out of the cars in blacked out military suits. "What the hell?" Is all we can get out.
