Chapter 13 - Farewell

-11pm back in Yori's room-

"Well I guess it was worth it to ask him."

After Daisuke told me about the forest I tried to change the topic and asked him a few other things to raise his mood and also get more information.

He actually seemed to feel a bit better after I changed the topic and he answered a lot of other questions. Of course I couldn't ask him some of the really important things because they were too basic, strictly because they were so important.

Everybody who actually lived in this world for a few years should know about these things, but still I could ask quite a bit, because I told him that our village didn't really have any contact to other humans and so I asked him about the current situation in the world.

He told me that it wasn't too bad. The whole human kingdom is relatively large and was only weaker than a few other races' kingdoms, one of the reasons was that it was split up in a few different kingdoms. He also told me that the kingdom we were in was the kingdom Raiken.

So I could assume that naturally the next big city, Raiken should be the capito, which just gave me even more reasons to want to go there.

The races stronger than the humans were quite a lot and there were a lot of factors playing into that, but I didn't have time to ask about such details, so I only asked, which races were stronger than humans.

The strongest race was never really clear, because there had never been an all out war with every race competing, but you could say the strongest are the elves.

To me it only made sense if you look at the fact that commonly known elves are in general faster stronger and have better senses than humans, well at least in a few of the stories I read. Well and you don't even have to talk about the fact that elves are living a lot longer than humans and maybe even are immortal, although that is not commonly known.

Of course there are not only benefits, because such a strong race would get too powerful, but it seems like elves are not very fertile, otherwise with elves living such a long life it would be a disaster and the balance of this world would probably not be able to be kept.

But that just means that almost all elves would be way stronger than humans.

One day I definitely have to visit the elven kingdom, it could be very good for me, when thinking about all of the opportunities I would be able to get.

I would definitely be able to meet a lot of strong people, but mainly would probably be able to train my body and of strengthen my magic. With these thoughts I finally fell asleep for the last time in this village, the next day would be the day that I would depart and go to the next big city, my first goal.

-The next day-

After I woke up I was thinking of everything I did and maybe still had to do here and came to the conclusion that staying here for any longer would just slow me down and waste time.

"Let's head down."

I went down and saw Daisuke sitting on a chair and looking he was thinking about something, I couldn't exactly tell what he could be thinking about, but he was in deep thought while drinking something.

"Hey, Mister."

"Oh hey Yori, good morning."

He sounded quite sad, he probably developed some kind of sympathy for me although I was only here for two days and I knew he was a nice person, it probably had something to do with his son, who was went missing, but it was still remarkable to be able to develop sympathy so easy.

Although remarkable it was also a pretty bad character trait to have in this kind of world, just thinking about how easy I could exploit him if I played the correct cards made me sad and although I did lie to him I at least didn't really do anything more than that.

"Are you really sure that you want to depart today?"

He spoke with a certain sadness sad in his voice, it was the kind of sadness that could affect you even though you couldn't understand it, it just had that certain feeling to it.

"Yeah I am sure. I am really grateful for everything you've done over the course of these last few days and I will be sure to repay you for everything, but I have decided that I have to get stronger to achieve my goals and because of that I need to travel around and get stronger. That's why I can't stay here."

It took him a few seconds but he replied to me with, an I guess understanding voice? Or at least he seems to accept and understand it.

"I understand your point and I will not stop you from doing so, I just wanted to make sure that you are really sure about it."

"Let's at least eat one last meal together for the time being."

He went into the back and got us something to eat.

It seemed like it would be better not to say anything, so we just quietly ate and I couldn't help but think back at the little time I spend here. The memories I made here were actually happy, I didn't imagine that things would go like this when coming to this world, but they actually did so I need to cherish these memories, because maybe these will be the last happy memories I'll ever make, well that's the path I decided to take.

It wasn't enough to make you cry when thinking back at it, but it was still enough to make you feel different kinds of emotions.

-10 minutes later-

I was standing at the end of the village together with Daisuke. This was the exact location from which I had previously entered the village.

Maybe I would've died in the forest if I didn't go this way, or maybe I wouldn't have, but now I'll go in the exact opposite direction. Now my situation is also a lot better then when I came here for the first time after entering through the gate.

I'll have a sword and a bow once I get back to the bag I already placed near the path beforehand. Daisuke also gave me food rations and water for 4 days, I wanted to repay him with the money from the bag, but he just told me that I could return the favour once I came back to the village again.

"Thanks for everything Mister, I'll be sure to return to this village once I am stronger, maybe it will be after a few months, but maybe only after a few years, but I will come back. And at that point I'll repay my debts and your kindness."

"Can you promise me?"

It was a sudden, serious question. It was like he wouldn't let me go if I didn't promise that to him.

"Yes I can. I will come back Mister, I swear this on my name Yori Tsuyoku."

It might not be worth a lot to me right now, but in the future maybe my name will be told everywhere in this whole world and then I will definitely come back.

"Good, then I guess I can be at ease."

I already wanted to turn around, but I thought I would at least try to make him a bit happy before leaving.

"Mister, I just wanted to tell you that in the short time I had been here... you really were like a father to me."

I couldn't tell his exact emotions, but a tear started to run down his face. Suddenly he took a step forward and hugged me.

"Thanks Yori. I believe that you will come back and I will wait even if it takes my whole life, so you better keep your promise."

"Yes, Mister."

He let go of me and put his hands onto my shoulders.

"When you come back, you have to be strong enough to take revenge for your family members, okay?"

"Yes, when I come back I will be stronger than anyone could ever believe."

"Ok now go, go into this dangerous world and achieve you goals and don't ever lose sight of them. And one last thing, cherish the good moments in life, if you don't then they will start to disappear and you will only be left with pain."

"I will keep it in mind. Farewell, Mister."

"Farewell, Yori."

As I was walking down the path I didn't look back even once, the future lies in front of me and as I was walking I was finally able to put down my mask and prepared myself for what was to come.

Farewell to my life until now, the real journey is only just about to start.
