Chapter 17 - What exactly is this world?

I shouldn't read too much into what happened right there. But at least I got to see the royal family of Raiken with my own eyes and also I came to know that this big city actually has a royal family. I noticed it was big and was sure that there was some kind of noble family at the top of this city, but the royal family really did surprise me. I guess Daisuke thought I knew that Raiken is such an important place, but it would've been really nice to know that before coming here.

"Well it's also good. I mean in such a big and important city there's bound to be a library, where I can hopefully get Information."

With these thoughts I continued to walk around in Raiken looking for a suitable place. After walking more towards one of the mayor streets and toward the inner part of the city I finally found it. A building that had to be a library. The doors were open and looking inside you could actually see dozens of rows with bookshelves. When I walked inside I noticed that it was really quiet like in a real library back in my world. There was no one at the entrance and I just saw a few people, who looked like they were working here walking around or waiting for someone to help and find certain books for them. I was just going to look around for a bit and was walking around seeing different kinds of books. It's good that in this world they also use the same kind of spelling and writing system as in the previous world, If humans would use a completely different system here it would be extremely hard for me to find anything out. Well I already thought that it would be the same, because the language is also the same as in my previous world. After looking for a few minutes and quickly going through the rows I finally saw books that looked quite promising. I skimmed through a few of the books until I finally found one that seemed like it's exactly what I needed. "Subete ni tsuite" by Idaina kenja, this seems like the exact thing I need. After I quickly skimmed through it to see all the topics I noticed that the topics like magic, the different races, swordsmanship strong warriors and many more were only explained at a superficial level. After noticing that I looked at the shelves and saw many more books of Idaina kenja, "Mahō no subete", "Ken no subete", "Rēsu ni tsuite no subete" and many more. It seems like his name is not just for show. A great sage, he seems to have spent his whole live learning about this world and writing it down for later generations. I picked the book I had first and took it with me and sat down on a chair. I began reading it and it was incredibly helpful, I only learned things about this world at a superficial level, but it was exactly what I needed right now. After reading a lot and not noticing how much time actually passed I looked up and noticed that a lot of the people who were here before were gone and it had already become dark outside.

"Should I just take it with me."

I thought of taking it with me and reading it at an inn, where I would be staying, but it wasn't worth it. I highly doubt that you can just take any book with you, but would it be noticed if I just quickly put it in my bag, when nobody was looking.

"Nah, let's just go."

I figured it wasn't worth the risk after all it's probably one of those books everybody knows and has at home, so it should be here tomorrow too. I stood up, picked up my bag, put the book back where it was and then went outside of the library.

"This was really worth it."

I was actually able to get to know so much about this world in just a few hours thanks to one book. Well I guess I'm gonna have to remember this and get a good nights sleep. After finding an inn I quickly paid with the money I had still left from the bag I stole from Hiroki. After paying for a room for one night I immediately went upstairs to my room and put down my bag. I took the branch and was starting my daily training. I couldn't train with the bow, so I used that time to train my body directly. I did pushups, sit-ups, and squats until I couldn't do anything anymore so I lied down in the bed and before falling asleep I quickly revised what I had learned. There seem to be a lot of different races, but over the time most of the strong races got stronger, while the weak races got closer and closer to extinction. For example goblins are the best example, because they are pretty stupid and have weak body's no strong race is friendly with them and they have to hide in mountains and forests, where they inhabit caves to not get killed by the major races. The major races are all would you would expect. Humans, elves, dwarfs and hybrid species that could change forms, for example Nekomusume, a race that can actually turn into kids and in their human form have a lot of cat characteristics for example they have cat like ears, with which they can hear a lot better than humans, also their pupils are vertically shaped to see better at night. But besides those prominent and very intelligent races there are also mythical creatures in this world. For examples dragons, phoenixes, unicorns and different variants of these basic forms like wyverns. These creatures can fetch high prices if they are sold but if someone were strong enough they could even tame them, though you would have to be extraordinarily strong to tame one of those mythical creatures. Besides that I learned a lot about magic, one of the most shocking things about magic I noticed was that it seems like humans could only use magic while wielding special weapons, which are specifically made with materials that seem to be capable of using mana to actually control magic. It also seems like it's unique for everyone what kind of magic they can control, but a lot of people can't even control magic no matter how hard they try and if they can the most common magic is the basic elements, Fire, water, wind and earth.

"What is this bullshit?!"

They really want me to believe that, I was so frustrated when I saw it the first time at the library, it literally doesn't make any sense.
