"Anne, where are you," I hear my dad talking to me through the ear piece. I run through the halls of the building, trying to get in position.
"I'm in the west building."
"Alright, close that exit down, so they don't get out. We can't let them take this outside. We need to stop them now. I'm coming from the east."
I use a spell to trap us in the building. I hear growling coming from around the corner and I run to check it out. I get there at the same time as my dad on the other side. In between us was a wolf and vampire fighting. They were getting brutal with their hits and if we didn't stop them now, one of them were going to die.
"You get the vampire, I'll get the wolf," I tell my dad and he nods from across the room.
"Resurgemus." I whoosh my hands in the air, grabbing onto the wolf and pinning him to the wall. His feet were floating off the ground. He tries to fight back, but I'm too strong.
"TURN BACK," I scream at the person behind the wolf, waiting for them to transform back into a human. They listen to me and there back into their human form with no clothes on. I magic up some clothes and he puts them on.
Don't need any of that showing. Seeing this on a daily basis is scarring.
"Now what's the problem," my dad asks after calming down the vampire.
"That blood sucker killed one of my pack members," the wolf says. He's still trying hard to break out of my spell.
"That dog had it coming," the vampire says. Oh, that must have burned. I've heard many vampires call werewolves dogs in the many passing years. It's not that cool anymore. Someone needs to come up with a better joke.
"What's your name," I ask the wolf.
"I'm Alpha Zeke," he says.
"And you," I ask the vampire.
"Beckett."
My dad puts his hands on the side of the vampires head and I do the same with the wolf. We look through their memories to see what happened to lead up to this moment. Witches can't enter anyone's mind until they know the person's name.
The werewolf's head went through flashes of anger. I could feel my hand boiling from the anger. It was a familiar anger that I've felt before and I get flashes of blood. I feel comfort in the feeling and start to dig in deeper. I saw Zeke trying to rip Beckett and the deceased wolf away from each other, but they wouldn't stop fighting and his pack member died. He didn't know why they were fighting, which added to his anger.
"That's the reason you killed the wolf?!?! Are you fucking kidding me," I hear my dad say.
"What is it," I ask my dad.
"The vampire was fighting with the deceased wolf over a girl. Their just high school kids fighting over the same girl they liked, but the girl was the wolf's mate. She was human. They fought and the vampire killed the wolf."
"You know that she was his mate, right? So, now that you killed him, she's going to die too," my dad tells Beckett, the vampire. He didn't say anything, just looked at the ground.
"Idiot," I mumble under my breathe. The wolves don't have control over who they love. Once their connected, if one dies, the other dies as well. A wolf and their mate are like two halves and they complete each other.
"Your court date is in two days. The jury will settle what punishment you will have, but for now, we'll bring you home to talk to your family," my dad tells the vampire.
"You can go now. Next time someone kills one of your pack members or anything you have a problem with, you let the court know," I tell Alpha Zeke.
This was the basic process of our supernatural world. We had multiple courts in different areas. We assigned judges and we had jury's of different supernatural beings. We lived among the humans and blended in. Although we had our courts, we operated at night, when the human courts closed. We have to follow human laws and supernatural laws. We had blood banks for Vampires, so they won't feed on humans or other beings. We had pack houses for wolves. We are spread all over the world and we all have equal power. There are separate laws for different types of beings, but we are mostly under the same rule.
Each section manages something different than the other. For example, one handles blood shipment for the vampires, while the other handles law. It's a lot, but that's the only way we can manage a world of peace. Their are the higher courts that settle laws that affect everyone, but it's pretty hard to get one of those positions.
"Anne, you spaced out again. We're home," my dad says, waving his hand in front of my face. I totally spaced out that I didn't even realize my dad already dropped off the vamp boy.
"You mean our home until tomorrow," I say, almost glaring.
"We've been living here since the day you were born. Your not ready for a change? Also, you know their having trouble in Louisiana and we have to go help."
"I know. It's just a lot. Moving and leaving behind all the memories," I say sighing.
"I know princess," my dad says, giving me sad eyes.
"Well, your 18 now and it's your last year in high school. Make the best of it. You may be leaving behind some friends, but now you can meet new people and make new friends. Get out of this boring town," he says pulling me into a hug.
"I didn't have any friends anyways," I tell him jokingly, but also serious.
"But no boys. Absolutely no boys. Repeat after me: boys lead to problems," my dad says with a serious tone and I laugh.
"Boys lead to problems," I say, smiling to my dad as he pats my head.
"Alright, go get some sleep kiddo. We have a long day tomorrow." He leaves to go to his room.
I go to my room and once my head hits the pillow, I'm knocked out.
