Chapter 3 - Chapter 2- School

Now, don't misunderstand, being left alone is great and all, but after being alone for a few years, you tend to get...really, really bored. So, school is a total torture.

Hikari put on her black school shoes and walked straight out the front door. She took in the cooling morning air, and looked at the sky. It was currently all sorts of shades of pink, orange and yellow making it look quite serene and allowing one to forget the cold that surrounded them. She noted, whilst throwing her fabric bag behind her back, 'Hm, maybe I should have worn a coat'.

Her school uniform was made up of a cotton navy blue skirt (that was not allowed to be worn too far above the knee, unless you wanted detention). Every student also had to wear a white collared shirt and a tie ,that matched the skirt, with a stone grey jumper and burgundy coloured blazer on top. She absolutely hated the way the burgundy and navy blue looked together, often comparing it to a male peacock dipped in dark ketchup. Many at her school thought the same thing, just that they probably didn't quite compare it to a peacock and ketchup.

Sighing, she took a step forward and walked east, in the direction of her school. She lived on the opposite end of town and couldn't get a bus, so she always woke at 6am to walk to school and arrive at roughly 8am. Hikari didn't mind this at all, however, she loved seeing the sunrise in the morning. And, thought of the walk as daily exercise, that helped her wake up properly for the rest of the day.

After walking for over an hour, she was finally at the school gate. It was a 2 metre tall, silver metal gate that was decorated with spikes at the top. It truly makes the school look as prison-like as it is. From the outside you can hear loud talking and conversations. "Let's get this over with" she murmured quietly, stepping into the school grounds.

Silence. Immediately after she entered, everything went silent. Hikari just kept her head down and walked up the straight, pebbled path the school entrance had and up the steps, until she was inside the school. As she walked through the crowded corridors, and into her first class, she could feel all their eyes on her.

They thought she was insane, that she was going to attack them, so they stood out of her way. "Murmur, murmur, whisper, murmur, whisper".

Hikari couldn't quite pick up what they were saying, but she didn't need to. She knew what they were saying, 'Oh hey look it's the weirdo' or 'Ugh, she's so weird it's scary'. Clutching her bag's straps tightly, she walked to her seat.

The classroom had 6 rows of chairs and tables, one per student, each row had 4 seats, bringing the total number of desks to 24. However, only 22 desk were filled, there being 1 empty seat right at back, and 1 seat right at the front. She sat on the third row, at the very right of the classroom, allowing her to sit by the window.

RINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

The school bell rang, and with that the hellish day begun.
