Chereads / The Adventures of Rapham / Chapter 7 - Connection

Chapter 7 - Connection

As Hades finishes speaking, both Apollyr and Rapham look at him in utter confusion. A relationship between Gods and Mortals? It seems like that would be impossible. How would a major God know someone on the level of Rapham? As the two-finish musing, Hades enjoys their facial expression. He stands up and walks around them "Apollyr, remember how you met your first wife? How she had been the most beautiful woman that you said you ever met?" Apollyr keeps looking at his uncle in confusion as he finishes speaking. "Yes, old man. I do. Why do you bring such a matter up at this time?" Hades smirks again as he nods at the reaction of his nephew. "You are both connected to each other by Liara."

Hearing that name, both men look at each other. God and man stare each other. Rapham becomes irate. "How do you know that name!?" He says as he begins to charge at the God's. In that moment, he did not care that they were Gods, he wanted to protect his family. Apollyr ignores Rapham. After all, what could a mere mortal's soul do to a God? Apollyr then turns to Hades. How does this mortal relate to my wife, Uncle? He says, confusion even more apparent on his face.

Hades waves his hand, and Rapham freezes in his place. "Know your place, mortal." He says as he looks at the young man. "Liara is married to Apollyr." He says briefly to Rapham. "Apollyr, Liara is the daughter of Rapham. In her first life she had been born to Rapham when he was still a king." He says briefly to Apollyr. He stretches out a little before making eye contact with the two men. "It would appear that she was given the same name on Earth through a twist of fate." He says before waving his hand. Rapham becomes unfrozen as he looks at Hades. "My little girl is alive?" He says, his face darkens as he remembers the scene of her death and rape. "Yes, young man. She is now a divine wife as well. For her struggles she was accepted by fate as a woman born to be a God." Hearing that, Rapham collapses. The mental anguish was too much. His hard work was being paid off. "At least she is well now." He says after a moment.

Apollyr looks down at Rapham in shock, after all, this was the man that sired Liara's existence. The situation has now changed, in his eyes, and he almost blurted out "Would you like to see her", but seeing the look on Raphams face, he decided that would not be wise.

"Alright." Hades says before clapping his hands together. "It is about time we get down to the next step. Rapham, you will reincarnate into the Army sergeant's life. If you do well, I will occasionally allow you a pass every 3 years to see your daughter. Your wife is currently in Enam, if you so choose, you can try contacting her, but I will advise you not to do so. After all, she is living a new life. Allow fate to guide you. Failure to do this will bring forth a punishment from my general, and Cerberus may not be too kind."

Taking in all the information given to him, Rapham nods and kneels. He did not want to feel the soul crushing pressure of Hades's might again. "Yes, Lord Hades. I understand and will follow your will. If fate guides me to having my family once more, I will adhere to your guidelines."

Hades nods down at the mortal once more. "In that case, begone. Down on Earth you will be guided as to what you should do. For now, remain steady in your mission. Slay the Wicked God, and you may just have the chance at Godhood. I will warn you though, boy. Godhood is not so easily attained by those not born as Gods, do not try to reach such strength on your own. My advice would be to build up a clan or have strong companions assist you. Only by doing so will you accomplish the safety of two worlds. Now, I as an elder God give the mission stated prior to the soul Rapham. In doing so, I release him from death as guided by the constraints of the limits given by immortality. Henceforth, Rapham shall remain in the world of Earth until his mission is completed, or his death."

As Hades finishes speaking, Rapham doesn't have a chance to speak before black chains wrap around him. He feels the chains constricting him, and fire wraps around the chain. He had been shot, stabbed, and even eaten alive before, but this was the worst pain of his exist. He lets out a bloodcurdling scream as his soul is crushed by the chain, and he sees words appear on the chains. He tried to read the words but could not. "That is the language of the Gods, boy. Do well to remember your place." Hades says coldly as Rapham loses consciousness.

As Rapham disappears, Apollyr turns to Hades. "What do you think his chances are, Uncle?" He asks as he looks at the spot Rapham had disappeared from. Hades leans back as he looks in the distance, seeing Raphams soul enter the body of Rogers. "I would have said zero had I not told him about your wife being his daughter. Now, I would say around fifty percent. Men like Rapham will do anything to protect their family. Remember this well, my dear nephew. Mortals can grow, that is why so many mortals become our equal in battle strength. Never count a mortal out when put into a corner."

As Hades finishes speaking, Apollyr nodded. It made sense to him. As Apollyr was pondering over his uncle's words, Cerberus walked up to him, his tail wagging as he dropped his ball. "Awe, such a cute boy!" Apollyr says. He had missed the dog so dearly, so he patted Cerberus on the back. "Cute." Hades says with a laugh. "If anyone else heard those words, they would laugh at you. Calling a 20-foot-tall Black Wolf cute." Hades laughs as he leans back in his chair. "Now, let us watch what this mortal has in store for us."
