After entering the tent, Daniel could not help but to admire the lavish insides of it. Due to the magic of Enam, things that were impossible on Earth were commonplace here. Of course, to most players, this world was just the destination of a game they played online. To Daniel, however, this world was as real to him as earth was. Enam was his home. He had lived, breathed, loved, and shed blood on Enam, after all. It would always be his home. As Daniel took his seat, he watched the king wearily. If he were on Earth, he knew that this was a trap. This was Enam, though. These people were weaker than him, and at the end of the day, they all just want to go home.
As Daniel ceases his musings, he looks around. The "Tent" that he had been taken to was no different from a reception hall. The carpet was made of a strong fiber taken from a silk monster called the Silk Spider. The tapestries were all made of gold, and the walls were all built with glass, allowing one to get a beautiful view of the valley. The hall led to a throne room, and in the middle of the spiral structure was a pure silver throne made of mithril. It was impressive even to Daniel, whom had once been the richest king in the world of Enam.
Looking up at the throne, Daniel notices that the king was now wearing a ceremonial armor meant for greeting dignitaries and royals from other nations. It brought back memories of when he used to wear such armor. The armor that the king was wearing adorned him from head to toe in solid gold. His crown was diamond with mithril and ruby infused. In the kings' hands was a sword that seemed to be covered in flame runes. "Lord Swordsman, my name is Miel van Tazman. I am the ruler of the kingdom of Tazman. Please allow me to gift you the sword of flame. It is the sword that was given to my country by the Archangel Michael." Hearing that name, Daniel frowned. If the pantheons existed, and an angel did too, he wondered if there was an omnipotent God. Ceasing his musing, Daniel accepted the gift. It was, after all a legendary sword. He could not wait to inspect the stats on it!
"I can not just take this legendary sword. Here, take this jewel. This jewel is my mark. My name is Daniel Faras." He says, shaking his head inwardly at the name. If you ever find yourself in need of my assistance, push on this, and I will answer if I am free." The king looked at the jewel in shock. He could not believe that this tier 4 swordsman would allow him such a merciful gift. If only there was some way to win the man over…
As the king ponders about how to win Daniel to his side, Daniel was inspecting the weapon given to him. It was truly one of the most powerful weapons one could attain. He looks up at the sky and chuckles to himself. Apollyr had a hand on this, that much was apparent. "So, the Gods are still intervening, eh?" He says to himself as he turns back to the king. When Daniel faces the king, he sits down at the table. Usually, such insolence was met with certain death, but Daniel could have taken down Tazman's kingdom in one fell swoop if he wanted to.
"King Tazman, my reason for the request I made goes beyond asking for the sword. In truth, the sword does hold value to me, and I will treat it well, but I am in need of information as well. In truth, I would exchange the sword for information. I have been away in my travels for over 100 years. I know nothing of the world as it is today. In my quest for strength and power, I was sent to another world, and have just returned. Can you tell me the fate of my country, Fulite? What of King Rapham, and his Nightwalkers?"
Tazman looked at Daniel with a wary face, and then an apologetic expression. "Lord Faras, I have to apologize, but the kingdom of Fulite is no more. It fell after a military coup 100 years ago. Due to the ensuing civil war, the country was invaded by the neighboring country of Liy." Daniel looked at Tazman with a painful expression. His work had been for naught. He could not help but remember the horrified screams of the people that he had loved the most as they were killed. "It seems I may need a new home for the time being." Daniel says to the king. "Would you be willing to allow this now beggar a home in exchange for missions that only I am able to proceed with?"
Tazman inwardly smirks as he looks at the man. It was no secret that the men of the Nightwalker brigade were some of the strongest in the world. In the case of the man in front of him, he was truly a monster. There were likely not even 1,000 people in the world stronger than Daniel. "Yes. Henceforth you will be given a residence in exchange for services given to the Tazman kingdom. In order to pay for your residence and earn citizenship, you must complete three missions of SSS rank or higher. Do these terms please you, Lord Faras? In conjunction with this order, you will have status on the same level as me, and by my decree will be given land at the royal palace grounds."
Daniel agreed to the terms wholeheartedly. By treating the King and his men like actual people and not NPCs like other players would, he had gotten himself a house. He had also opened the gateway to commissioning high level quests that were equal to his level. He smirks as he nods to King Tazman. "King Tazman, I agree to your terms. I will serve your kingdom well, and as long as I am treated well with the information I need, I will adhere to the guidelines as outlined in this verbal agreement.
Little did Daniel know, that he had made the best decision of his existence.
