Chereads / The Adventures of Rapham / Chapter 12 - Flashbacks

Chapter 12 - Flashbacks

As Daniel asks her if she believes in reincarnation, Aria pauses. She looks up at him as she recalls past experiences that could not be explained. How had she known so much about Enam as soon as she started playing "The rise of Enam"? How had she known how to use mana right from the start of the game? Why did she share the name "Aria" with a main character of the backstory of the game, and look so much like that character? As Aria begins these musings, she remembers the name that the man in front of her had said. "Rapham…" She whispers. In the dialog of the game, A queen named Aria and a king named Rapham had married. They had met a grave end when a military coup had killed the pair and their daughter, Liara. As she begins to muse even deeper down the rabbit hole, dreams she had had growing up came back to her one by one.

The first dream that Aria had had was when she was eight. At the time, her parents had been going through a divorce, so Aria had been delving into books: the adventures that she had reading about famous figures led to her having a wild imagination. One day, this imagination led to a lucid dream…

Aria sat on a horse as she stared down at the human in front of her with cold eyes. As the elven queen, she had a relentless and cold heart. She would not let anyone close to her since her father's death at the hands of his brother. She grimaced as she stared down at the man. "Tell me, human, why dare to tread into these forests, are you an infant that does not know the bylaws?" The human man smirks up at the elven woman with a look of absolute arrogance. "Greetings to you too, Young Queen Aria. Your beauty and coldness proceeds you well." He says as he stands his ground. Not answering her questions, the royal elven guard surrounds him. "My name is Rapham." He continues, ignoring the guards around him. "I have come to negotiate a treaty with the elves at the behest of the human kingdom Fulite."

The dream that Aria had been having abruptly ended there as Aria's mother had woken her up. "Good morning sleepy head, it is almost noon. It is time to wake up." Her mother had said to her as she shook her daughter gently. Aria had woken up grouchy that day, groaning. "MOOOM!" she gripes, trying to hide under her covers. "Its not fair!" Her mother had just smiled at her as she walks out of the room. Aria had then thought about the dream all day following being woken up abruptly. She had asked her mother if she had ever heard either the names Aria or Rapham, and her mother had said no.

The dream from when she was younger had then been forgotten as Aria moved into her preteens. She had grown to be a beautiful young lady, sprouting up to be nearly as tall as her mother by the age of 10. When she turned 11, she had another dream…

It was truly a beautiful wedding, fit for the royalty of two races. The reception was held in a Garden with cherry blossoms and crepe myrtles. The Gazebo the pair stood on had the snow-capped mountains in the background and overlooked the ravine that led to the moat of Destin; the royal capital of Fulite. Aria looked at Rapham lovingly as she says her vows. "In light and in dark, I will stay as yours. My body shall be yours to hold in heat and cold. As we age, my vitality shall be our guide, and my hands shall be your glove. Never shall the bed be removed from our touch, and our souls shall always be in each other's grasp. I love you for as far as the east is from the west and cherish you to the ends of the North to the colds of the south." Rapham, at hearing the words of his love, could not stop tears from falling. What pride in not crying was there to be had as a man heard those words? Rapham holds her closer to him, grabbing her waist and looking down into her eyes. "In this dark world, never shall we be alone. As long as I draw breaths, my life and light will be yours. My strength is yours to lean on, and my shoulder will be your resting space. From here on out, as we lay in matrimony, my love for you will grow until I we can hold the moon in our souls. I love you."

As Rapham says those last three words, Aria wakes up in a cold sweat. Tears had been running down her cheeks, and she laughs at herself. "I really need to stop reading manga." She says as she wipes the tears off. She gets up and looks at the mirror. Her body had grown to be 5 feet, 5 inches. Her blonde hair ran down to her shoulders, and her blue eyes seemed to pierce through everything. While her body had grown, her peaks had not. "Ah, if only I was truly like that woman." She says with a tinge of sadness. "Anyways, time for school."

The dream would lie dormant once more. The next time that Aria dreamt of Aria and Rapham was the year before the game "The rise of Enam" would appear. At this point in time, Aria was 18 years old. She was now a fully endowed woman with supple breasts, and a curvy albeit athletic body. When she falls asleep, the scene in front of her eyes was a beautiful room overlooking a sprawling medieval city.

"Easy, milady! She is coming out! Push!" Were the first words Aria heard as she looked down. There were 4 mages surrounding a woman on the bed. Rapham could be seen looking at his wife. He was holding Arias hand, smiling through the pain he was experiencing as his wife was crushing his hand due to her pain. "Stay strong, Love." He says gently. Aria didn't have the strength to respond as she lets out even breaths. The mages had been giving her healing spells one after the other to relieve the pain of childbirth. As Rapham finishes speaking, Aria gives out one last push, and in the next few moments, a child's wailing could be heard. Their first child was born! Aria looks at the little girl just born and holds out her hand, motherly instinct taking over as she calms the child down once the mages had ensured their daughter was healthy and clean. Rapham draws near, wrapping his hands around both Aria and his daughter. "Welcome to the world, Little Liara." He says with a proud smile as he kisses Aria deeply. "She has your eyes, my love."

"BAMM, BAMM, BAAM." Aria is then woken up rudely as she grumbles awake. "Ugh. I hate work." She says as she silences her alarm. She thinks about the scene she had just dreamt about for a fleeting moment before shrugging. "I need to stop reading smut before bed." She grumbles as she gets ready for work.
