Albert, the classmate of Quast and Jerry, wanted for supernatural things to happen within his seemingly boring world, as by this point everyone who knew him understood.
Albert's wish was granted, and he felt the utmost joy when the news spread, the best news that he could've wished for, and it was that people were getting powers.. he didn't even give it a second of consideration to think if he was even going to get an ability before he thought up all the cool things that he was going to do with the ability, Albert wouldn't be so lucky as to get what he wished for.
News came in on the day before the quests were about to be refilled, the news were amazing for some, and terrible for others. School under surveillance was about to start for Quast, Jerry, and everyone else, that meant that at the very least one person from the authorities had to watch over a school at a time, unless something really urgent came up, they had to be stationed there, so that no accidents like the one that was the entire reason the school closed happened.
[Damn, did you hear?] Jerry opened the chat function of the system.
[What? Is it about school re-opening?] Quast asked almost already knowing the answer.
[Yeah, and I'm sad.. Bro, I was having so much fun just chilling, waking up with a full 8 or more hours of sleep, and now look at this, we have to go back to school.. Wanna bet that nothing is going to even be changed.] Jerry sounded a little bit angrier than usual.
[Yea, but school is all about memorizing useless material and then getting a piece of paper and writing it all down, and we don't need to do that anymore since we have this very cool chat where we can just copy and paste the information that we would need for the test and use it as a cheat sheet.] Quast answered.
[That's true, I guess. Well I think I'll go now, and think about how we changed the world and then I'll think about system as a whole, cuz nothing of this has really clicked in with me yet.] Jerry had the chat open for a little bit longer to see what Quast was going to reply with.
[It hasn't really settled with me either, it's so incomprehensible for now, but then I think about how there really aren't any rules in the Universe that are set in stone, and that everything could be possible, and after that I think of an alternate reality where abilities and stuff like that are normal, but then one day they get taken away and everyone has to live without abilities.] After some time Quast responded.
Soon after both of them closed the chat.
"I don't wanna do anything.." Quast mumbled and slid down his chair until his head was on the seat, without any motivation he took his phone and went to lie on his bed and watch videos, after around an hour of watching random things, like gameplay, and tech reviews of computer components that he couldn't afford, he went to make himself a sandwich.
Once Quast's parents came back from work they found him with his normal clothes under the blankets in his bed and the window blinds shut, of course he was awoken by the arrival of his parents, but decided to act like he was still asleep.
"Did you get everything ready for school tomorrow?" His dad asked him.
"Yeah.." Quast answered and turned in his bed.
"Okay, well it's almost dinner time." His father said.
"Not hungry." Quast responded.
"Well if you get hungry, it's in the oven." The door was closed and Quast's room was plunged in darkness as he closed his eyes again in hopes of going to sleep again.
Almost as soon as he had his eyes closed, the lights turned on in his room and his mother was telling him to wake up, it was school time.
It was already morning as he made his way to brush his teeth, however he was already in his normal attire, that consisting of a sweatshirt and just normal track pants, he decided to just go to school like that.
After biking to his school, Quast locked the bike outside of school and went inside.
There, teachers were standing in the hall waiting for students, when none were really coming, Jerry was already there and Quast was on the way to the entrance.
The two friends greeted each other once both of them were in the school.
"There are no people here, normally school would be almost full by now." Jerry said.
"So are they just not coming..? Wait did our parents know that this was going to happen?" Quast asked.
"I dunno, but school sure isn't starting today, since I think that we and a few other kids are the only students here." Jerry shrugged.
"Wow.. so we just came here for nothing?"
"I think."
It was now exactly 8:00 AM on a Monday, the time when school normally began, but it wasn't beginning today. A few minutes later everyone heard an announcement from the speakers in the school.
"..Okay everyone... due to there not being enough students, school will not begin today, everyone who is here can leave the school grounds and go home. Everyone who wasn't here today and every student that won't come the days after will be written as absent." with a little crackle of the speakers the announcement had ended and everyone was allowed to leave.
Back at home, Quast's parents had already left for work so he just called his mom on the phone to explain what happened. After that whole ordeal, he just sat on his computer for around two hours playing a competitive first person shooter with random strangers online.
After going to get a glass of water from the kitchen, Quast remembered about the quests that were going to refill today, there were only 3 more hours left until they refilled, so he notified his friend Jerry.
After 3 more hours of idling around they decided to meet at their one and only spot in the forest where they had done most of the levelling up.
Quast called his mother and notified her that he was going out, and then locked the door behind him as he put his phone away in a pocket and got on his bike.
Today would be a special day, since it was the day when Jerry would hit Level 25 and the first system level up would happen.
