Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

Zen of course was burdened with work. "Yo, brother of mine. Get me this." His sister, Hannah, threw a piece of paper at him as soon as he walked in. He took the paper and sighed. "These are drugs. I'm not buying this shit. You probably got guys to fuck you for money so buy it with that." Before he could walk away, he felt a hard slap to his face. He looked to his mother and tilted his head. "How dare you say that about your sister?!" The woman yelled.

Nate and his mother knew that Zen was home now. They rushed out but the guards stopped them from even going out. "Oh sorry. Did I use too many fancy words? Right, I'll change my statement." He said and looked at Hannah. "You sold yourself to men, right? Use that money. The one from your prostitution." He spoke and his father couldn't stand it anymore. He rushed out and did the usual thing they do. Beat the poor boy up. Nate saw his mother who started to cry and took her inside.

"Why do they beat him up so bad?! He'll die!" She cried as Nate hugged her. "He won't, mom. For us. He won't." He whispered as he tried to calm his mother. Natalie was with them too and she was also crying. Her brother was getting hit again.

In a few hours when they were done, Zen started to laugh. "Is he insane?" "He's lost his mind." He heard but didn't care. "Thanks. Another reason for me to not stay here." He said and got up, casually dusting himself off and headed out. "Mom. I need to make sure he's fine. I'll be back. Take care of Natalie for me okay." Nate said and was about to leave when his mother's words broke his heart. "My fault. He depended on me and I said those horrible things." She whispered. Nate shook his head and followed Zen.

He put his mask on and followed Zen who just walked. He didn't seem bothered by anything. Zen walked all the way to one spot. He loved it but now, that too seemed so empty. He took his jacket off and walked into the water of the lake. He bounced up a little and floated on the water on his back, looking up at the moon.

"Fly me to the moon and let me play among the stars~" He sang and Nate sighed, looking at him. He went under a tree which was in the dark and sat down, looking at his best friend, now brother. "Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars~" He heard Zen sing and leaned against the tree.

Zen stayed in the water for a while, closing his eyes. He still had his mask on even though it was late at night. He was used to it. Taking the mask off, seemed uncomfortable now.

Meanwhile, small snores emerged from the female as she lay on the comfortable king-sized bed, a black comforter covering her figure. Beside her was an utterly annoyed male. Really annoyed at how many random thoughts ran across his mind no matter how he brushed it off. He was also a bit annoyed at the fact that he had to share a bed with a person who has the opposite sex as him.

He, after all, wasn't used to sleeping with anyone especially if it was a female. He never did and never will- well, that changed now. He tried to convince the female to sleep alone in his room whilst he slept in the living room instead. However, she claimed that she was too afraid to do so and this wasn't her house. Additionally, she hated large beds.

Then the female eventually won the childish and perhaps, cliché argument. Now, here they were. All comfy and casual. Nothing special. Just a snoring Aelise and a blushing Eros or Ace.

About Eros' thoughts, he was angry at his housekeeper for slutshaming Aelise. Literally, he had a lot of things to hate and get mad at at the moment. He especially and highly hated the guys who hurt her and then it lead him to wonder who in the hell was the person who dragged them away from the scene. He looked horribly familiar. He had definitely seen him somewhere. He was sure of that. He thought deeply and thought and thought then thought, finding possible answers. Then, something clicked in his mind.

It was Aelise's ex's best friend.

Eros gritted his teeth in irritation. He thought. 'Is he the one who sent them to hurt her?' The thought worsened his state. He couldn't bring himself to hurt the guy. Aelise deeply loves him. He knew that. It was just the rage that was embedded in him.

Annoyed, he got up from his position slowly so as to not startle the female from her sleep. He knelt down in front of her, facing her peaceful sleeping face. He smiled softly at the sight. He was so in love, he admits. He wanted to marry her so badly. Have a family with her. Live his life with her to the fullest until they rot. But the state she was in, and the things that he had done were interfering such happy things. He knew that he didn't deserve her and she didn't deserve him as well. God was sure of that as well. "I just want want you to be happy with me." He mumbled sadly.

He sighed and stood up, grabbing Aelise's phone that was just on the nightstand. As much as he didn't want to breach her privacy, he just wants or rather, needs to talk to the guy. He scrolled through her contacts and clicked on Zen's number, texting him. 'Hey, can we meet up right now? It's fine if you can't. (●'◡'●)ノ' Then followed by the location where they'll be meeting. He used emoticons so as to make it more believable that it was Aelise who texted.

"Ah, me and my emotions." Eros grumbled and headed out from his house, going to the place where he told Zen to meet up with him. It wasn't that far away from the house at all. When he arrived, he leaned back on the wall as he waited for him, Aelise's phone in his hands.
