It was one hectic day!
He couldn't believe that was that!
They say men do not have dramas and here he is the walking irony! Work has been so demanding and he is very caught up with it.
Who says having a job is a blessing? Yes, it pays you but, you have sleepless nights in the production and you get left out by the world!
He doesn't even have time for social activities!
Heck! He doesn't even have one from the moment he arrived at his position in the team. Although fulfilling, he gets to direct his team, but nothing comes without a price to pay. That's no sleep, no night outs and no love life!
Does it even make it worth it?
He checked his wrist watch and yes, eleven past midnight. You see, how could he meet and greet love life prospects or attend to dinner blind dates set up by his friends and family when this is his usual off from work. Seriously...
"I have to live a little..." He whispered to himself.
This he didn't think will be brought to life so easily by the twisted fate.
He turned on the ignition but stayed idle for at least a minute to just stare ahead blankly. He thought he saw something, an illuminated complexion, a human, is it? But it's gone too soon. Who goes out at this part of the town at this hour?
Yes, maybe he only lacks sleep so he needs to go home.
The loud banging on the door woke him up.
"What the hell? I just slept four hours! Tsk"
He remembered when he got home, he has a meeting to attend tomorrow for the new project of the team. He had to make important notes and details to not mess it up and voila, they have the project! He dragged himself to the door with a heavy head due to lack of sleep and when he opened the door,
"Zeddric Dakila Miller! What took you so long that I have to bang the door so loud?!"
Yep, the little monster of a mother with both hands on her hips with the oh so stern face. His mother is really little at 4'11 and yet she talks like 5'10 always keeping him and his siblings on their toes. Had he not ducked at the right moment, she must have caught his ear for a strong pinch!
"Yep, that's my mother at my 26 years of existence." He mumbled.
"What is it that you need?" He asked gruffly.
"Do I have to pinch you now, son?" His mother asked with that eery sweetness he knows not to mess with.
"Mom, I got a rough night, spare me please." He then implored.
By this, Julia took a closer look of her son to notice the darker than his already dark under eyes, which he got from his dad, and the disheveled hair, yes from sleep but that's not just it. She thinks he is overworked. At this, she calmed and collected herself.
"Buy me my candles at the cathedral please, dear. Like now."
Why do mothers sound so sweet and yet authoritative?
He picked up the ecobag his mother handed because yes, she's into saving plastics and all that, and Zedd thought to initially put his things to his car too for office later to save time.
His mother is fond of buying candles at the nearby stall of the cathedral because they smell like strawberries. Even him love the scent actually. There's a bench where he placed the ecobag where he looked and realized his notebook with the important notes is there. So with it just at his side, no reason for it to get away or get lost.
That's when he really thought wrong.
Hennie just keeps on missing things so she got back to her favorite candle stall and there! The ecobag she left. Gladly, she picked it up so hurriedly to not be late to her family's breakfast and hailed a cab.
She dropped her purse inside the ecobag and to her surprise when she checked, her stash of chocolates wasn't there! She picked up the notebook that's in it and checked out.
How would she relate with these terms?
Target.. Optimization.. Layout..
Business she guessed. And oh, the hand writing is so pleasing to look at. How she wished she has that hand writing too! But what she discovered that night was what she could not forget.
Zedd wondered after buying the candles why the ecobag dropped on the floor when he placed it well but oh, he better be going home. Only to find out his notes wasn't there, chocolates instead!
And that's how he messed up on that project meeting. He arrived at work late for the search of the ecobag. All important notes for the meeting is there. After an hour of looking, he gave up. Only to find out he's already thirty minutes late of the meeting. His company is very strict when it comes to punctuality. Production won't tolerate tardiness as it affects efficacy. When he arrived, he was not composed as he was not prepared. The meeting sadly composed of the terror director himself and the new business partner. Simply, he lost his post. He lost the management. He lost his team.
Life is always unexpected. The moment you have it all, you thought it can't go down until, this meeting happened. Whoever got the journal, that person better be ready.
Or so, he thought.
Hiraya Athena Clay picked up the journal that night and turned it upside down. There she saw a recent note with a post it. The date there too is just yesterday!
A job!
She may have lost the stash of chocolates but she found a job vacancy! Whoever is the owner of the journal, she is most thankful! She then googled the place and it's so accessible! She then edited her CV and added some significance to the job. Very optimistic that she would land this one!
The loss of the other is the luck of the other.
This is their world. If only there's a choice to just keep bringing what's colorful and joyful. Maybe these two hearts would just keep on winning.
But life is simply not like that. It has a cruel way of putting up things together and falling things apart.
