Chereads / Agapite mou: A love to let go / Chapter 3 - Journal

Chapter 3 - Journal

"Hello, Zedd. Yes, this is me calling you to file for a leave from work on the 19th next month. Prepare for a number of songs as requested by the batch. People are looking for their crooner. Ugghh! Can't believe you really sell at it! Three songs tops. Hero Heroine please.. You know I love that song! Nah, suit yourself. Bye!"

And that ladies and gentlemen is my tyrant of a best friend, Malaya Joey Ordoñez. Can't believe that small female bosses me around but, I have no sister so I just let her.

Joey and I..

I can't think more than a platonic relationship.

It makes me cringe. I really treat her well because I consider her my sister, no more than that.

We've been best friends since Kindergarten.

Hell yes!

She's one of those very silent kids in school but actually very bubbly when with the right company.

And that company means me.

She's a recluse to others but that changed in Junior High. She just blossomed into a lovely cheerleader whom everyone just wants to be seen with.

And I..

I became the batch crooner. Least to say that Joey got catfights because of me as her best friend.

And we laugh at it now.

How we spent our high school was truly chaotic and at the same time remarkably memorable. Yep.

Joey is the cheer captain and no, I am not the school jock nor the basketball team captain,

I am the badminton athlete and batch crooner.

Joey just can't sing her life out or pigs would fly! Haha

How could a month be that fast is beyond me.

Here we are at the campus gate wearing our high school characters! How's that?

Joey being Joey wears that cheerleader thing that up until now, I really think to be too short! Guess some things never really change.

And I am in my usual outfit up until now.

A stripes button down shirt, my camouflage pants and dress shoes. Well you think how the hell does a camouflage dress pants suit me is also beyond me. But I sure as hell look dashing!

Self-confidence braa!

But honestly, I don't know how it worked too.

There was a wardrobe malfunction with my dress pants one school celebration and I had to sing wearing my camouflage pants after my badminton tournament. And everyone didn't bat an eye!

Girls' eyes went googly instead. That was really a surprising turn of events, really. After that, I was that crooner wearing that camou.

Hi's and Hello's were exchanged as we set foot on the school's auditorium with Joey by my side.

One of my classmates catcalled Joey and received the stink eye from her. How's that. But that's for a show. Our batch really blended so well with one another that made us the most outstanding batch in our generation. No kidding.

I was sitting casually because I just arrived but Joey being Joey called me upstage to do my thing.

Now that's both nostalgic and annoying.

The crowd being so supportive of Joey cheered me on too. So I took my time to the platform.

🎵🎶 "There goes my heart beating.. cause you are the reason...

I'd climb every mountain.. and cross every ocean..

..cause you are the reason..."🎶🎵

And the crowd went wild and all the girls have been a goner of his charm.

While at the library,

"Hennie sweetie, thank you for being so kind. I wouldn't be here without you. I am most grateful." That's Mrs. Greene, the university librarian.

She asked Hennie to pick up from the clinic her prescription for her to buy her medication. Hennie happens to be her neighbor and she is an old spinster. And Hennie being so kind doesn't mind errands like these. Her heart is set to help.

But actually, it took her longer to go to the clinic for Mrs. Greene because she forgot that it's that time of the month for her.

She's more forgetful now than the previous year.

Maybe she just needs more rest. It doesn't dwell good, she meant, you can't just rest if your heart is tired. And Hennie is nursing a broken heart, contrary to how bright of a smile she's giving Mrs. Greene.

She was about to leave when this music played,

"Hey, Mrs. Greene?" She asked.

"Yes, dear?" Answered Mrs. Greene.

"What's that sound I am hearing from the auditorium?"

"Oh! The Optimus batch is having a reunion. We call them the Optimus batch because they top all the batches. They're that good. The one singing right now is Dakila. That boy is such a crooner. Someone who goes here regularly at the library too before. It's more likely that after his performance, he'll pay me a visit." Mrs. Greene expounded.

Clear as day, Mrs. Greene looks forward to that. Who could that boy be? Hennie had that fleeting thought of interest but gone sooner.

"I really thought that's a record being played. Wow, such a crooner!", Hennie retorted.

"That he is." Mrs. Greene said with that warm smile.

"I better be going now, Mrs. Greene." Hennie bade farewell.

"Oh, if you'd stay longer I'd introduce you to Dakila. I think you two will make a good match." Mrs. Green tried being matchmaker this time.

"Oh, Mrs. Greene. If only I am not nursing a broken heart, I'd love to. But for now, I'd better go." , sincerely answered Hennie.

Mrs. Greene was right. Hennie's smiles lately were far too warm and forced. She must be going through something and that she's right.

About five minutes after Hennie left, Zeddric Dakila came to say Hi to Mrs. Greene.

"Hello, my dear Mrs. Greene. You look younger than the last time!", spoke Zedric Dakila.

Later, Zedd found himself looking for that journal he kept at this library way back six years ago. He remembered it last night. He burried it at the back of the banisters. And to his big surprise, he found it!

Huh, nobody found my secret storage from then? Unbelievable! He thought to himself.

And as he scanned through the pages his heart beat faster. On his last page, he wrote down before,

The Sun.

But looking at it now, someone deliberately wrote beside it with,

and The Moon.

And two lines beneath was,

The infinite chase of two heavenly Lords;

One a god, the other a goddess.

No one loses and no one ever wins.

Therefore, in silence

This remains.

P.S.

Love when it's true, you have to let go.

H.A.C

The initials aren't familiar but goodness Lord, that was one rich poetry!

And that for certain, took his breath away.
