Focusing on Al, I see him looking at his phone to see that Ivy is texting him. Without thinking, I grab his phone and put it in my pocket. He stares in disbelief; since I normally don't do things like that. My eyes quickly go wide, I was about to apologize but Al just lets me know it's okay.
"Do you feel like you're being watched?", I asked quietly.
"No. We should probably let Rogue and Rex know. They'll be able to help you more; or do you want to wait?", Al says then ask.
I shake my head, the last thing, is them worrying about me. We sit in silence until the bell rings; making our way outside to see Rex next to Rogue's car. Rogue unlocks his car and Rex and Al both go in the back while Rogue and I get in the front; we leave but that's before I see a group of guys staring at us. Rex notices as well but doesn't say anything. It's pretty much quiet until we reach the beach; Rockaway Beach to be specific. Rockaway Beach is the only beach that has surfing; we all head to the water. That feeling of being watched has disappeared which I'm grateful for. Grabbing Rex's hand and run to the water but I soon get pulled back and behind all three of them.
"Why have you been following us.", Rogue demands.
"Why can't we follow you?", someone asks.
"Not when it deals with my friends.", Rex states.
"Answer the question, Rogue.", someone else says.
Rex lets out a hiss as if letting them know he's not a pushover. The world around us became quiet... or so I thought. When I move a little, I see the same group from our school but one particle has their eyes on me. I couldn't stop my body from keeping eye contact with this creature. I can tell that my friends were trying to get me to fight but I couldn't hear them.
"So, why don't you just die."
"Come on, this is our future."
"Lame!"
"Let me kill her!"
"DIE!"
So many more; I couldn't understand why there were people telling me things when I couldn't hear anyone else. The voices started getting louder and louder; covering my ears only made them seem even louder. I compacted my eyes shut while covering my ears, even though it didn't work the first time.
"You're stronger than them. Show them."
"I can't!", I cried out.
"Yes, you can."
"No, I can't.", I say while sobbing.
"Then your friends will suffer."
"No! Leave them alone!", I scream out.
"Get them to obey you!"
"How?", I ask through my sobs.
"I can not help you."
"But you must hurry or your friends will suffer!"
"I command you to stand down.", I say while stuttering.
"They'll never listen."
"That's enough! Leave or else, I'll burn your bodies and chain you to the abyss or maybe, I'll throw you into the lake of fire! Leave and never come back or so help me; I'll make your afterlife a living hell!"
"That's my girl."
I begin blinking at the pitch blackness that surrounded me to finally be able to see the beautiful ocean; turning to my shocked friends. I began waving my hands in front of their faces but that was working so I slapped which got them out of their trance.
"Holy shit, Angie!", Al says.
I give them a confused look and Rogue seems to notice but waits until Rex is done having a small meltdown, I think? "When were you able to control those creatures?! Like what! I've known you my whole life and not once have I seen something like that. Unbelievable!"
"We could hear everything you were saying but you weren't talking to us. While you were having your conversation, the group of males started coming to us and we were prepared to fight them but then you happened. Frankly, I don't want to get on your bad side.", Rogue explains to me.
It was quiet until I got the feeling of being watched again and this time, I didn't keep it to myself. Taking a breath, I turn to my friends and tell them everything they need to know. I couldn't handle it anymore. Rogue tried to figure out where they were at while Rex sniffed to see if any new scents came by, but there was no luck.
"You got the feeling of being watched in second period?", Rex asks.
"Yes and no. It wasn't a strong feeling when I was in first but it got worse in second. I think it was because I was hanging out with Jareth.", I say while looking away.
"Why the hell would you be hanging out with him?", Rogue and Rex ask together.
"Why is that a problem? Come on guys, he's not bad at all.", I say while walking toward Rogue's car.
"I call bullshit!", Rex yells.
I roll my eyes at him; once I'm at the car, I see that it's unlocked so I get into the back of it. Closing my eyes since I started feeling sleepy, and before I knew it, I'm out cold. I wake up to the sound of arguing; quickly getting up, I head toward the sound. I make it to the kitchen where my mother and my dad are having a heated conversation, with a male behind my mother. It was bound to happen. Making my way back to my room since I may already know what the outcome will be so I just turn on the Tv; as time goes on, there is a slam from the front door and footsteps coming toward my room. My dad pops his head in and gives me a smile before he heads to his room. I'm glad he's home; taking a glance at the time, I see it's time for me to head to work. I knock on my dad's door and I see him without a shirt on. Wide eyes, I quickly turned my face so I wasn't staring straight at his chest.
"Sorry, Ang.", he says.
I let out an mm; before heading to the car. He comes and starts the car; there was an awkward silence as we head to my work. Forty minutes later, we reached my work; I said bye before heading toward the back door of the Animal Cafe.
