Chereads / The Hellhound’s Mate / Chapter 3 - Rain?

Chapter 3 - Rain?

Once I get into the locker room, I see Laura, Jessa, and Jessica already in their animal costume. No, the cafe isn't where they are in a full out animal costume, but the waiters wear animal ears and tail. There are about sixteen animals; bear, bunny, cat, deer, dog, fox, leopard, lion, monkey, mouse, panther, rabbit, raccoon, tiger, wolf, and zebra. Jack is a bunny, Selene is a cat, Jessa is a deer, Jessica is a fox, Laura is a lion, Tyler is a monkey, Nico is a mouse, Jerry is a rabbit, Taylor is a raccoon, Camila is a tiger, Max is a wolf, and I'm a bear. I haven't met the others; making my way to the front, I see it's not that busy, which is normal since it's the week of Christmas. Checking up on the tables that already have people in it then moving toward the kitchen when a group of girls comes in; hopefully, someone else will take their table but once I realized that no one was able to do it but myself so I mentally prepare myself. Once I'm close enough, I see Ivy. Great, just my luck; please note the sarcasm.

"Good afternoon, how may I help you girls today?", I ask.

"Look, who we have here. If it isn't human. You know what you can do for us, is die!", Ivy says while laughing.

The rest of the girls let out their laughs as well. I keep my mouth shut and wait for them to be done. They finished laughing and they all looked at me; I'm ready for their orders but once again they make fun of me.

"Why the hell are you still doing here? Didn't Ivy say go die!?", another girl asks.

Rolling my eyes, I leave and I get Camila to handle the girls. I was about to head to the kitchen when a group of boys came in; I didn't even look around, I made my way toward them and I saw Jareth, Spike, Jet, Jax, and Leonardo. Let's try this again.

"Afternoon, what would you like to start off with?"

"Angela.", Jareth says questioningly.

"Yeah?", I replied.

"I didn't know you worked here.", he says.

"Are you guys ready to order?", I ask.

"Yeah, I'll take a coffee and a grilled cheese.", Jareth says.

I nod my head and head toward the kitchen; giving the order to the chief and then head back to the front, to see that Ivy and her friends are gone and almost all the guys are gone besides Jareth and Spike. Max comes out of nowhere and hugs me from behind; just as his arms wrap around me, they're gone. Spike acts quickly, trying to probe his hand, but no such luck. I couldn't think, I was stuck and I don't know what to do.

"WHAT THE HELL, DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING TO MY MATE!? YOU GOT FIVE SECONDS BEFORE I RIP YOU TO SHREDS!", I hear Jackson say.

"Jareth, let him go.", I demand.

"No!", he yells.

"Max is already taken! He has a mate. Now, let him go or I'll let Jackson rip you to shreds; another thing, he's gay.", I snap at Jareth while smirking.

Jareth drops Max as Jackson holds his mate close to himself. Max throws daggers at his attacker. Selene comes out of the kitchen and decides to break the heavy tension.

"Since there are no customers, why don't we all hang?"

Max, Spike, and I all nod our heads while Jackson and Jareth, both say sure. Right after that Jackson glares at him; well things could've gone worse. I notice Selene talking to Spike and Jareth; probably should keep an eye on her. Max leans his head on my shoulder before whispering, "I don't have enough room for everyone."

"You have plenty of room but I have a feeling that Jackson doesn't want you anywhere near Jareth.", I whisper back.

"Pretty much. He doesn't trust him.", Max says.

"I wouldn't trust him either.", I state while looking at Selene kissing Jareth.

"Don't you like him?", he asks.

I did. But he's a liar and besides who wants to date a human? Not me.", I answer.

"Maybe he has a good reason for lying.", Max says quickly.

"Max, look behind you; I'm going home. You have fun.", I say while walking away.

Max turns around to see Selene and Jareth making out. It begins to rain as I'm walking out of the cafe. Making my way home when I run into my dad; looking up at him and his eyes go wide before he pulls me into a hug.

"Baby girl, what's wrong.", he asks softly.

"Nothing. Why do you ask?", I say curiously.

"You're crying, dear.", he says with a small laugh.

"No, I'm not. It's raining outside.", I yell a little while moving out of his arms.

"Sweetie, go toward the window and tell me if it's raining.", he says with a sad smile while using his head as a juster.

Doing what I'm told, I get to the window and I see Selene and Jareth holding hands, and once again it started raining. Turning back to my dad and saying, "it's raining dad." He wraps his arms around me and keeps saying sweet nothings as I begin to fall asleep. Waking up to someone talking; now fully awake, I realized that I'm hearing my dad moving around the house while he talks to someone but it's not in English, Italian, or French.

"Blmwl ao dmpvrhlg mbejl. (Leave my daughter alone.)"

I'm not sure if I should talk or just listen; I end up not fully paying attention to him as I begin to get off the couch but I stop once my dad growls out, "Seal jlmg ao dmpvrhlg mjd N'bb cnbb ocp. (Come near my daughter and I'll kill you.)" Whoever he was talking to, they sure know how to piss him off. Not long after, there's a knock and it becomes dead quickly; moving to the door so they don't knock again. Once it's open I see Max, Jackson, and Spike; my dad kisses my head before giving the guys a head nod as he leaves.

"How are you holding up?", Max asks as they all come in.

"I'm fine; it was raining before you guys came.", I say.

"If you say so, Angela.", Jackson says.

"Is it cool, if Jareth and Selene come over to hang? I mean, if you want since it's your place.", Max asks.

"I don't have a choice, do I. Since they're at the front door.", I state while opening the door.

Jareth and Selene come in when a voice comes out. "She's trying to take your man." Quickly doing a 360°, but it was just Jareth, Selene, Max, Jackson, Spike, and me. I try and not let anyone notice that, but it looks like Max and Spike noticed how I was acting. Not wanting them to say anything I quickly suggest truth and dare; everyone moves to the living room where we all sit in a circle.
