Chapter 4 - Evolution

I started to hyperventilate. The reason for that because of the divine beast.

The reason I knew that the rat in front of me was a divine beast was because of the aura it released. The aura it released was pretty much invisible to the goblins, but to me, it was blinding.

It had even stopped my heart, I didn't even realize it until my DW notified me about it. It was a scary sight.

'So that's a fucking divine beast. Even when its this weak it can do this. No wonder they could get to level 100.' I was still terrified due to it.

Then I sensed something trying to attack me, but with my increased stats I could easily dodge it and even counter attack. Leveling up my claw skills not only made them stronger, harder, and sharper; they also made me more proficient at using them.

When I went to see who it was that had attacked me, I found that it was the goblins. I didn't want to deal with them right now, as I wasn't in a normal state of mind; so I quickly slaughtered all of them.

I wasn't worried about exp because I wouldn't get any from them. It was pretty quick, they couldn't move fast enough to dodge my attacks. After a minute, I saw all of them lying limp on the ground.

I then burned them all to ashes with my breath, I didn't know why I did it, but I knew that doing it was probably for the best due to my DW.

I then turned towards the limp body of the divine rat I had just killed, just seeing the dead body made me feel chills running down my spine. I made me quiver, if I wasn't strong mentally I would've probably just fell.

'That thing shouldn't exist.' that was the only though I had, the thing in front of me shouldn't exist. Even while dead, I could still feel the remains of its killing intent.

All my senses were telling to get the fuck away from that thing, but I couldn't do that. Having a body of a divine beast – even though it's a weak one – wasn't something that was normal in the world.

Actually I was pretty lucky to have found a divine beast, since, even my DW was just screaming at me that it wasn't fucking normal.

So I could only do the thing that was most logical to me, eating it whole. In Mir Grand eating a strong raid boss's corpse would give you increase you stats and give you new skills. They would also affect your class ups and evolution, so rich players used to get many other players to farm them high level raid bosses so that they can get more powerful.

I slowly walked towards the limp body of the rat, still feeling an oppressive aura coming from it. It still scared the shit out of me, but I knew it that I had to eat it. My senses were all telling me the back the fuck up, but I didn't listen to them.

I had gotten a notification saying that I could've gotten the rank of a divine beast, I mean, monster by properly killing it. So eating it should give me something, right?

But that wasn't the reason I had wanted to eat it, the main reason was that looking at it made me feel oppressed. That wasn't something I liked, it reminded me of the time. Eating that bastard would mean that I was above him, I was stronger than him.

Even though this line of thought was messed up, it was the only thing that allowed to me to gain enough courage to consume the damn beast.

After cursing the entire world to burn to the ground I finally finished the beast. It was quite tasty to be honest, but still the place where it lied still radiated oppressive aura that desired to consume the entire world and burn it to the ground.

I was still afraid of it, which made me feel sick inside. But the notification that came in my head helped ease the pain by a little bit.

[Consumption of divine beast, you have accumulated divine essence]

[You have gotten the divine skill, 'Divine Essence: Lv.1']

[You have gained the sacred skill, 'Lord of Inferno: Lv.1']

[You have gained the skill, 'Inferno Magic: Lv.1']

[All your stats, except your mana, is increased by 10%]

[Your mana is increased my 50%]

[You have gained the rank, 'Legendary Monster']

[The rank 'Legendary Monster' increases your skill growth rate and increases their potency!]

[Stats up by 10 points due to 'Legendary Monster']

'Yep, that bastard could have gotten to level 100 pretty easily!' I looked through all the notifications.

Even the strongest raid boss, the level 85 Demon Emperor won't give you this much of a boost if you fucking soloed him. And I got this from just eating the dead body of a divine monster, I can't even imagine how much power I would've gotten if I had truly killed the bastard.

Legendary monster, being, beast etc. would allow you to get a class up or evolution that will turn you into a world boss – the strongest types of bosses. Having one this early would surely make me leagues stronger than before.

But having this title meant that I was strong, even an average player could solo a world boss if he tried hard enough. And even a weak player who was about 5 levels above would absolutely annihilate me.

'I should probably start getting ready to evolve.' after all with how much skills and special skills I have lying around, I would be surprised if I didn't get a world boss evolution.

This just made me feel afraid of that bastard even more, if I hadn't killed or if the goblins had killed it. The entire world would have been screwd over, unless there is a being even stronger than a level 100.

I needed to get to a safe spot, that's because evolution took a long time to set up; especially at the later stages.

For my first evolution, it will probably take me 20 minutes to set it up and about 40 minutes to finish it. I also knew that having legendary monster would reduce the time by half.

I then returned back to the river, the divine bastard was still bugging my mind a little bit, 'I need to cool down.' that was the though passing through my head.

Well it was true, I was starting to curse a lot, after all. I then again concentrated on the road. I made sure that there wasn't anything following me; I had killed and ate a divine beast. Thankfully, nothing was coming closer.

'I think I should probably start to explore the forest after this evolution. After all, I didn't want to be super cautious for no reasons, I also want to relax and cool down. Though being cautious does have its merits.

I then reached the river, 'I think I should probably check my evolutions I have.' I then willed the evolution tab to open up.

Evolution list:

1. Child Dragon

2. Child Golden Fire Dragon

3. Baby Inferno Dragon

The showed me three options, the first one was pretty normal, the second one was pretty powerful; but the third one – even though it was weaker than the rest – was the evolutionary line for a world boss monster. Though all of them were demonic in nature.

'Well being demonic doesn't mean that I am evil, though it will still be fun to role-play as a demon king.' I then remembered how soo many people actually role-played in Mir Grand, most of them were either heroes or demon kings.

I then chose inferno dragon, there was a confirmation window, I then clicked ok in it. 'Well then, 20, no, 10 minutes.' back at Mir Grand, you won't be able to play when you evolve; sometimes at higher ranks people complained about not being being to play for a year due to the time needed to evolve. That's one reason monster classes weren't played that often and why only rich people played them – as the could buy evo boost to make the evolution process way faster.

But in this world, instead of just waiting for 10 minutes; I feel down. It was like getting knocked out.

[Evolution process, complete!]
