Chereads / Donnel's Dilemma / Chapter 9 - (Chapter_9.1) (In the beginning)

Chapter 9 - (Chapter_9.1) (In the beginning)

Sunday 10 April

The 5 minutes finally passed and 15:48 hit the display board, yet the train seemed nowhere nearby. Time was running out and Katlego and Donnel had to be in Rosebank by 16:15. Things just weren't going as planned, plus Donnel had just gotten another text from Collette, Katlego's twin brother's girlfriend, a text that left his tongue sour with guilt, itching to spit it out. He contemplated doing so, but how could he? It just wouldn't seem right but the right thing had to be done. So he finally gathered enough courage to do so but just as he was about to do so, his head soon turned to the left instinctively, alongside those of several young men and and women inside the train station; and his eyes were soon glued to the young lady whose slippers slowly slithered on the floor as she walked past them.

Her black top written, 'perfectly imperfect', matching with her black tight skirt to create a combo that, alongside her spiky, short afro which crowned her and, ceaselessly complemented her light brown skin, and maybe eyes.

Mmh! Mmh! Katlego cleared his throat, as he placed his hand on Donnel's shoulder and gave him a childishly playful look, but the lump that had now clung onto his throat remained. So he walked out to the railways, into the sun, his eyes scanning the crowd in search of this brown beauty and soon found her sitting at the egde of the bench.

A bench that was filled with people who's facial expression clearly despaired of getting home on time.

"She'd look great in a purple dress, if not a yellow one", said Donnel, teasingly whispering into Katlego's ear, but his heartbeat had already faced an emotional explosion in a nick of seconds, as he looked around and witnessed other eyes looking towards her with hidden intentions hanging from their brows.

"Just go Katlego brah, before I do" insisted Donnel again, a tiny giggle lurking in his voice.

So Katlego finally sensing the train's imminent and inevitable arrival, and realizing that failure to speak to her would only result in a life long regret, played ignorant to the attentive, scattered crowd and their hungry eyes. Before stepping into warm sunlight as he took his gut with him, exhaled deeply and checked his breath before making his move.

As he took short, calculated steps, his eyes remained glued to her. She seemingly looked down in distress as she portrayed a beautiful but sad look. Her cheeks were in  her hands, her arms planted on her thighs, as she seemed mentally detached from her surroundings.

"Hey... Haven't I seen you somewhere before?" Katlego finally said as he crouched to her level while simultaneously forming a concerned facial expression, to accommodate her distress

empathetically.

"Maybe you have, maybe you haven't", said she in a reflective tone as uncertainity and cofusion lurked beneath her tounge, anger lurking in her eyes. " But if you're a friend of Sphe, then get away from me.

"Nope, definitely not, but if you wanna talk about it I'm here, and I'm actually having a bad day myself", he paused to sigh; "BTW  you actually looked both cute and sad from my point of view"

"Meaning what exactly? And why were you watching me?", said she as she squinted her eyes  while pulling her head back dramatically.

"Well i'm a photographer and... I was enticed by the beautifully photogenic and adorably sad moment... My bad", Katlego said smiling, parting his hands to create a remorseful gesture.

"Then take your picture and go then", said she smiling.

"Well just like that? Without even getting your name? I'll pass..."

"Just what were you expecting? But seeing that my Instagram needs some new pics, I'm Zintle", she giggled.

"You see, if this isn't your lucky day... Plus I don't mind organizing a photoshoot for the both of Us."

"Don't have to put emphasis on that last word, I'm not looking for anyone right now."

"Are you using reverse psychology to hit on me, I'm not ready for a relationship either feels like these are just..." Joked Donnel humorously.

"Says the copycat himself, but I feel like your male species like playing games with mine. So for now I'm playing it solo." She laughed, looking away playfully.

Donnel was busy taking them pictures as their conversation went on, perhaps in search of a distraction to soothe the stress from Collette's temptations. But while Donnel was busy smiling pitifully, at the anxiously quiet people around him, whose conversations had now ceased and whose eyes and ears had now been captured by Katlego and the beautiful brown girl...

Beep! Beep! Just before his phone vibrated, and  the list of his WhatsApp notifications was concluded by another message from Collette;

"Two can play that game, hence I think we should..."
