Wednesday 13 April
"No Collette it's not like that;" reassured Donnel as he walked Collette to the terminus after school, two days later.
"Well that's not how it looked like to me, and its more like he now only comes to the fence for her, not me;" roared Collette.
"That can't be true"
"He can then stay at his Focus College then"
"She just thought he was Katlego... And Karabo didn't want to be rude"
"So he just played along, and even flirted with her in front of me? Even a blind person could've seen that he wants her, damn that Zintle"
"No man! He was just being a good brother, that's what twin brothers do, they wouldn't steal each other's girlfriends"
"Don't lie to yourself Donnel, I know my boyfriend. Plus that look he gave her should be for me and myself alone"
"Collette baby girl, you're over analyzing it, it was just..."
"No Donnel," interrupted Collette, "Though yesterday I came up with the perfect idea, we are gonna..."
"Don't put me in..."
"That's where you come in, you're the guy Donnel, remember," muttered Collette before laughing, "two can definitely play that game"
*************
'Two can play that game;" the line that was still circulating in Donnel's mind. His eyes fixated on the silver Toyota Yaris as it came to a halt just before Katlego, Caroline and Catherine came out; their bright smiles shining in the moonlight despite the rainy showers that embraced them. Just before Karabo and Donnel rushed out to help them carry the luggage, except for Donnel's trophy which he firmly held on to, boldly written "soccer player of the tournament".
Donnel could feel his tongue itching once again, craving to confess. "Maybe I should tell them both," he thought of telling Karabo that his girl, Collette, was conspiring against him, but that meant that he would also have to tell her that he's been invited to her house in Upper Kenilworth, tomorrow.
Donnel's Dilemma was truly getting to him and his mind was still curiously questioning Collette's invite, even as Katlego's sisters, Catherine and Caroline, watched him joyfully explaining how his soccer tournament went down. While Karabo was just ignorantly giggling on his phone and adding in delayed, ignorant responses whenever he could, despite randomly shaking his head, making the beads on his short dreadlocks bang against one another, much to Caroline and Catherine's annoyance.
"Yoh Gents, it was hectic, I didn't even get a chance to use my phone," said Katlego
"That I noticed, hopefully Zintle hasn't moved on though," whispered Donnel softly as his eyes shot to Karabo, just as Katherine and Karoline laughingly stood up to a certain phone call on Catherine's phone.
"But even though I couldn't chat to her 'cause the coach took all devices 'the moon will definitely rise again tomorrow."
"For real bro? What's happening?" barged Karabo into the conversation, knowingly why to Donnel.
"But before you say anything there's something which you should both know." Donnel leaned back, decreased the television's volume and planted his phone into his pocket.
"You sound worried, I'm guessing it's good news though," Karabo paid Donnel his full attention now.
"Sorry to burst your bubbles, but that girl is a savage she's making the boys at school go mad over her, she walks over boys like they are a pair of heels." He said in formatively, trying to sound like a news reporter.
"Either way Donny, I really like her and I'm thinking of dating her, so all these rumours you're speculating won't change that" said one of the twins.
"Do your thing but just beware, 'cause if you want to smash and leave that's cool, but if you want a serious relationship then prepare for a serious heartbreak," he placed his right ankle about his left knee, getting ready to rephrase Colette's words, "she's not the loyal type, judging from what I see."
"Thanks for the advice, guess I'll see what I can do." Katlego's response, even though deep down he was very much offended, for he loved the girl. She was beautiful.
"But for real, a job as a journalist will suit you, you really got me worried there," Karabo laughed, and felt his brother's eyes poking his neck and cheek
That's when Katkego played ignorant to Donne's advice and briskly began explaining his plan much to his sly twin brother's attention, despite concocting his plan with his goal-scoring moments form the tournament.
"So what time though? A question that left Karabo hanging as his brother then stood up to answer his phone, only to hear Lethabo's voice at the end of the phone call... the very phone call that Karabo had orchestrated...
"Who's that?" asked the orchestrator, with a sudden, devious depth in his voice... One that drew Donnel's suspicions. Karabo was Katkego's biggest competitor after all and Donnel knew that.
