Chapter 18 - (Chapter 18.X) (Convex Issues)

Sunday 24 April

Katlego woke up three hours after Midnight and anxiously scrolled through his Facebook and WhatsApp statuses as updates and posts kept flooding in. Posts of those who had stayed at the venue and those who had chased their after party endeavors elsewhere. A few students had eaten too much and had to be rushed home, others had left the venue before midnight to go to friend's party. Some had offers their services to stay and clean up, whist others chose posted what they got up to the parties, clubs and even at the beach with other students from other schools. Their heels, bottles, ties, roses, purses or even cans of Red Bull in their hands.

Everyone were having fun, their posts didn't lie yet he had chosen to stay at home, exercise, play FIFA, and feast on pudding. Undeniably he had no regrets. Until Lethabo tagged him in her post, of the the video in which Zintle had chosen Sphe over Karabo. Her message also telling him that he wasted his night wishing to be in his brother's shoes, only for Both Karabo and Zintle to get embarrassed in front of the whole class of...

He thought as much, until he saw the video of Sphe humiliating Zintle on stage, making him realize that Sphe had been behind his brother's humiliation. Katlego tried to distract himself by tending to other people's messages, but no matter how fast he tried to type, he still couldn't escape the questions imposed upon his mind by Sphe's malice act. Though he still couldn't forgive his brother, he'd sworn to make him pay.

Meanwhile later that morning Donnel woke up with vague memories of of the recent night. His lips still warm from the kisses that he'd shared with Colette. That's when he paused and his eyes filled with a depth that led to his moved soul. As he relived through some of last night's memories. When he'd gotten caught in her hazel gaze as he drew back, breathless from their moist kiss which had left alcohol dancing on his tongue and gums. His hands squeezing her buttocks in a way that drove a mixture of feelings into his heart before making his third leg stand. Her eyes smiling at his in an aroused manner, her breasts poking his chest as her pretty soft hand held his cheeks in their comfortable palms.

"Ouch!" He groaned. The more he tried to remember, the more his heavy eyes pained and his brain slammed against his skull. So trying to ease his hungover headache he stood, pressed his hand against his head and jumped over several sort of unconscious bodies as he made his way towards the door. Walking across a room reeking of alcohol as the the sound of sirens became louder as he reached the small crowd just outside the door. He could see several cops and paramedics pushing several unconscious bodies into the ambulance.

"What the..?" The question that rushed at him as he walked a little closer, his eyes picking up seven familiar faces, including Jaylene, Abby and Collette. That's when he caught sight of the chubby policewoman chewing a bubblegum approaching his immediate group as the ambulances drove away, the sounds of their sirens slowly shrinking.

"Drunk-poisoning it seems, but self-inflicted or poisoned by someone?" That's the question that barged past his recent thoughts as the lady slowly approached him to take his statement". She winked at him, tickling his throat with a bit of laughter. One that added to his headache. Shortly before a fresh concern appeared in her suspicious eyes, making him struggle to regain his serious facial expression.

"We arrived last night, smoked some hookah and began drinking, dancing and just..."

"Yes, carry on, don't tell me that..." commanded the policewoman in a patient tone before her eyes also shot to the door, behind Donnel's. Although she missed the the girl who had just suspiciously walked out with a with a red and white Kittie mask in hand, she surely looked back at him with a skeptical expression walking across her face.

"And that's when we..." continued Donnel, looking into the police woman's now fiercely suspiciously  eyes before his eyes were drawn towards the door. Only to see the girl put on her face mask, take off her pink, baggy hoodie before getting into a white polo vivo just before it drove out of sight and disappeared into the sunrise sunrise. Leaving leaves dancing behind it, whist also leaving him in the angry presence of the policewoman, surrounded by confused suspects who were just as hungover as he was.

"Young man, stop acting like you've seen a ghost because if you test my patience again I'll make you one," she said running her hand down his torso, as though searching for clues.

"That's when things just spiralled out of control and here we are," he could tell that that her Doubtful senses had attracted her to him

Meanwhile back at Caroline's place as Katlego was about to insert the green memory stick, that Colette had sent to him to give to Karabo, into his laptop when he suddenly got a call from Thapelo.

"Ekse, I didn't see you on Saturday, what happened bro?"

"it's a long story Thaps, Lethabo and I got into a fight so yeah"

"And bra, i forgot to ask about your birthday party's theme tomorrow."

"The Last Supper," said Katlego before they both  burst into laughter, 'cause after this little get together I'm planning to move out."

Fifteen minutes later, two minutes after Thapelo's call came to an end. Katlego got another call from Lutho and Sethu informing and reminding him of Zintle and Sphe's incident at the matric ball, just before Thato got involved.

"It was on everyone's status, I saw it, but it is what it is." A mirthless laugh flew out of his mouth.

"But don't you think that Lethabo's mad though, mad enough to orchestrate a plan big enough to make you pay," Sethu said in a hollow voice.

"Like have you ever thought like what if she was behind Sphe's encounter with Zintle, what if...?"

"Obviously not, it's me she's after, not Karabo or Zintle." Sethu's encouraging voice echoed in his eardrums.

"All I'm saying is pick up the phone right now, call her and make things right before she kills... I mean queues up more problems for you, you know how Lethabo is Kay Gee.

"Katlego! What's the meaning of this," yelled Caroline as she rushed into the lounge that instant, folding her arms to express her disgruntled feelings of disappointment.

He cut the phone immediately and snuffled quick enough to instill a lie into his imagination, as Catherine's footsteps emerged loudly until she finally walked into the lounge as well, his gun in her hand. A false embroidery of Excitement playing on his face before they walked closer to him. His hands behind his back to hide the green USB.

"I can explain, but first I need you too to relax."

"Better be a good, because I'm not going to stand here and listen to rubbish," boomed Caroline's response

"Carol just relax and let Cathy handle this" said Catherine nodding, just before a flash of concern appeared on her face just before she placed his gun on the table, as a smile devoid of humour slid between her lips. Her eyes shooting a worried look towards him, one sharp enough to drill the confession out of him. Until he felt the little pain as she pitifully pecked her little brother's cheek....

"Okay okay, the reason I have the gun is because... I've been feeling as though a heavy cloud of paranoia is hanging above me, to the point where..." His sisters hugged  him tight enough to warm up his voice.
