... 15 minutes late but at least we made it on time," said Donnel as they got out of the elevator, his eyes glued to his phone.
"But she got that thing though," he chuckled
"Donny bruh, you took us pics, so wrong of you bruh... but yeah she's flames though"
"Otherwise we finally here, Just remember to pull your face," smiled Donnel as he moved out of way to give Katlego the chance to open the door.
So Katlego bravely opened the door, fully knowing what to expect despite not knowing the outcome. He then paused and took a deep breath before letting out a long silent sigh, dawdling towards the big brown door, titled '338'. Taking short, calculated steps before finally pressing his hand on the handle and slowly pushing the door open.
Goosebumps dancing on his skin as the darkness of the dimly lit, quiet room embraced him.
'SURPRISE! The voices lurking in the dark finally screamed as the fluffy cushion, as witnessed by Donnel's eyes, tripped him just enough to make him lose his balance.
He finally regained it just before his body got caught up in one big embrace from the small crowd that was finally exposed by a light switch.
Several catching up moments later, ones accompanied by inquisitive questions, as Catherine and Caroline, Katlego and Karabo's older sisters, kept busy ensuring that everyone had a mouthful to say and that everyone had a perpetual plate of Chicken Marsala, alongside some sausage and fruit salad. Unless they wanted a slice of of velvet or chocolate cake of course.
That's when it finally struck Donnel, that Katlego's imminent departure was an early flight away, as Donnel looked around, at the chunky chewing cheeks of the mouthful crowd that had made themselves comfortable all over Katherine's two bedroom flat.
"Don't forget us when you make it KayGee," shouted Colette, Karabo's coloured girlfriend, as they embraced, cosily in the corner of the couch opposite the plasma, where her afro was slowly dancing to the rhythm of the wind that was briskly barging in from the nearby window; just before she continued babbling at Karabo. As his fingers ran around in circles, slowly around her dimples, playfully, while she uttered light laughs.
Beep! Beep! "I'm not dumb... I know there's another girl," read Donnel as his eyes jogged across his screen, making him pull a confused face. Just several seconds after his wandering eyes had been caught up in a fleeting glance by Collette's haughty hazel eyes; who he'd always known to be condescending towards other girls
Meanwhile Zintle's voice was still playing in Katlego's eardrums, making him reminisce about her infectious smiles during the train ride, as well as her soft playful slaps that he once got from someone once dear to him. Her sparkling sharp eyes piercing through his gaze to look onto his soul as his heart kept wavering to the warmth of her presence.
That's when his vibrating phone knocked him out of his thoughts and he quickly fumbled into his pocket, only to find a call from his recent heartbreaker Lethabo, the one who got away, better yet; pushed him away.
"What does she want now?" He asked himself, before a note from Zimi landed on his lap...
