Oliver sat inside the bathtub surrounded by bubble foam and hot water. His sore body seemed to melt away in the bathtub and it tempted Oliver to fall asleep.
Training with those two had been hell on Earth. Elaine insisted on perseverance. Never letting him rest too long before pushing him further until he reached his goal. Jack wasn't much better as he forced Oliver into a diverse training routine.
"I didn't even know my body could be stretched to such limits."
He remembered how badly he had suffered when he tried combat training with Elaine. She seemed to enjoy having the chance to abuse Aikido techniques to hurt him. Aikido was like Judo in that it used similar throwing techniques. And so Oliver would have his back slammed into the gym floor time and time again.
He was sore.
And he planned to go again.
After some time, an alarm cut the serene silence of Oliver's bath and he grumbled as he climbed out. He had set a timer to make sure he didn't fall asleep in the bath... again. He stared at himself in the steamy mirror and saw nothing changed. But his body would feel like hell the next day. He walked back to his room and changed into comfortable clothes, and hopped onto his bed.
It was time to check The System App.
As soon as he opened the App he was greeted by a string of texts on a new window.

Oliver was shocked to read the thorough report. But he couldn't observe it for long before the window closed itself and was replaced.
The status screen had changed.
******************
[Status screen]
Name; Brigand.

2.{Telekinesis}-Weak- Assimilation(0.01%)

"THIS ISN'T RIGHT!"
Oliver jumped up as he read the stat change. He had gained 2 strength points and 6 stamina points, yet his stats barely changed. Suddenly the screen changed and a new window opened, displaying text.
***********************
Because of the constitution of the body of user [Brigand], the stat point distribution ratio shall be altered. The ration being 5:1, for every 1 stat point, a stat increase of 0.2 points shall be applied. We shall alter the ratio as the body constitution improves.
This distribution ratio shall apply to each stat (except will).
************************
Oliver was stunned as he flopped back down onto the bed. He lost all excitement, as this meant his rate of growth wouldn't be as staggering as he may have wished. It felt like he had just been scammed.
"At least Stamina increased by a point. Though I feel no difference."
This was no longer a game of blind improvement. He had to make excellent decisions on how to improve himself as efficiently as possible. That's when he remembered the stat definitions. He tapped on the agility stat to confirm his suspicions.
*********************
Agility: 7
This stat relates to the speed of a reflex. It also relates to the speed of the user, as it allows for more energy to be concentrated throughout the body without damaging it. (1 agility point relates to a speed of about 1mph/ 1.6kmph).
NOTE: This stat can change the user's physique in order to allow for growth and development. Changes depend on the user's lifestyle and other factors.
This stat compliments [Intelligence]
*******************
{If I placed stat points into agility would it improve my body constitution? If so, then it would be more profitable to me in the future.}
Of course, this was just speculation, but if true, then the most broken stat would be agility. It would also help in improving speed.
{How do I invest stat points though?...}
He tapped the [Free stat points] and yet another new window opened.
************************
Choose stat to invest:
points left: 6
Strength: +
Intelligence: +
Agility: +
Stamina: +
****************************
For now, the most promising stat he could think of would be Agility. He wasn't in a rush to grow strong. He considered himself to be average and unbothered. What would he be rushing to fight for? Strangers who would try to cower behind his billowing cape?
Heroism was his desired career path, sure, but it wasn't his most urgent agenda.
He added all the points to agility.
*************************
Choose stat to invest:
points left: 0
Strength: 14.4
Intelligence: 15
Agility: 7>8.2
Stamina: 11.2

Now his status screen was as such:
*****************
[Status screen]

Strength: 14.4>14.4
Intelligence: 15>15
Agility: 7>8.2
Stamina: 11.2>11.2

Power level: 10.72>10.96
Free stat points: 0
[Attributes]
1.{Ultrahuman}-?!?@#?- Assmiliation(0.001%)
2.{Telekinesis}-Weak- Assimilation(0.01%)

Oliver stood up and shook his body a bit and flexed his arms, yet felt no difference. Probably because the stat change was so minor, it still placed him within reasonable human limits. If so, then it just meant he would have to strive for greater strength each day.
Which made him realize something. He remembered the milestone achievements. If they were indeed milestones to achieve for each stat then that meant they were the easiest way of achieving stat points other than daily tasks. Such a thing would be interesting to pursue.
{Looks like this is going to be fun}

(Somewhere off the coastline of Japan, a few miles from Yokohama)
There was a storm stretching as far as the eye could see. On a certain beach stood several hooded figures. Individuals carrying heavy weaponry like military rifles and grenade launchers were wearing black raincoats with the imprints U.G.S on the back. They combed the beach with flashlights and walked in groups of two.
Higher up the beach stood several vehicles and a buzz of activity. Individuals wearing business suits and dark shades in the rain walked about. They each wore gold and silver eagle brooches on their breast pockets imprinted with the words G.H.A.
Singled out from the rest stood a large tent surrounded by the business suit people watching the surroundings. Within the tent stood 6 people around a round table displaying a holographic image of the Japan coastline.
"We've got about 3 weeks before the gate seal weakens and it blooms. This thing is releasing energy in a dangerous amount per second. I suggest this be prioritized as a peak A rank gate."
The person speaking wore a military uniform adorned with medals and beautifully ornamented with blue and red brooches. He held his cap under his arm as he peered down onto the map. His accent was estranged and forced, as if English was not his first language.
"How much energy is being released?"
This time the person who spoke was one of the business suit individuals and was as beautiful as an American model. Her Auburn curled hair swayed with every movement of her head and a pair of black-framed glasses rested on her nose. She chewed on bubblegum and had her gloved hands in her pockets.
The military officer scratched his bald head and turned towards one of the other people in the room. This was a military officer of lower rank who was staring into the tablet in his hands.
"About 2 terra joules per second in a constant trickle spreading as far as the Indonesian coast. As much energy as a magnitude 5 earthquake constantly."
The lady in glasses smirked as she returned her gaze to the map and tapped the holographic image of the gate. This magnified the image to display detailed statistics.
"Yet we feel no earthquake. But the moment it blooms, hell on Earth shall open its gates from Japan. This isn't good. Whatever the heck is standing on the other side of that thing must be strong."
The lady then turned to 2 of the remaining three individuals in the tent, all wearing business suits and not looking the slightest bit interested.
"This shouldn't be a problem for you two to handle before the gate blooms. We can discuss supplies and reinforcements with the Japanese government at a later date."
She then turned to the last person, who was also a beautiful woman with blond locks of hair stretching down to her waist. Yet her eyes were as dark and hollow as the vacuum of space. No expression other than calm showed on her beautiful face.
"Miss Jesse what are your orders?"
Jesse Summers stared at the map and placed her hands onto her hips. Her thought process was impossible to predict and so everybody else in the tent held their breath in wait.
"This isn't something natural. My orders are to change the gate rank to S."
"WHAT!?! BUT THAT'S-"
"My orders. Also, change the gate-delving party authorization to the two people I'm about to tell you."
"Umm... sure. Just let me get the laptop."
The lady in glasses switched on her laptop and awaited for Jesse to mention the names.
"These are the people allowed for the gate-delving. Global rank two hero, Joshua Aziz and global rank ten hero, Claude Robak."
"At once Miss Jesse."
