Oliver wasn't back at home but had visited the gym his father often visited. It wasn't far from the house, so he wasn't afraid of getting lost on the way back. He had even called his mother just to make her aware of where he was.
He had a junior membership card, but it still allowed him access to certain equipment. But what he had come for was simple and he had about 2 hours to do it.
{Exercise}
The simplest or rather the least complex way to improve stamina. They would monitor him for sure, but he didn't mind. He passed by the reception and changed within the changing rooms and began with a treadmill.
He tried pushing to his limits until he felt tired and would take a brief rest. He would then throw himself back onto the treadmill to increase the pace. His body felt like it was burning up, but he kept pushing until he felt his clothes sticky with sweat.
A gym instructor watched him from a distance but didn't interfere, but smiled. It was a splendid effort.
Eventually, closing time had reached, and Oliver felt his body ache. He left with a minor commotion and called a taxi back home. He met nobody else but his mother watching Tv and went to his room. Midnight hadn't yet struck and so he immediately stripped his shirt and began a fresh round of exercise.
Pushups, situps, curl-ups, jumping jacks and finally dive bombs. He skipped dinner that night and desperately strived for more stamina points.
Eventually, he had to stop and take deep breaths. He took a water bottle from the mini fridge and waited for his body to recover. After some time, he jumped back into it.
When it finally reached midnight, he released a heavy breath and dropped to the floor in the middle of a pushup.
He expected the daily report to have a heavy list of stat gains.

This was great!! Although Oliver felt no different from before, he had a feeling he would run out of breath less fast now. It would likely show the growth difference in stamina once he tried doing tiring exercises. Speaking of such, his new [Daily Tasks] popped up.

Oliver couldn't help but smile. Today was the day to improve agility.
******************************************
(2 days left)
Oliver sat in history class at the very back of the class. His eyes strangely followed every single movement of the old bald history teacher, Mr. Bluff. He wrote on the board with enthusiasm and pointed out key notes and made dry jokes, something he usually did daily, but for Oliver, this seemed to be the very first time he noticed any of it.
(What is this?..)
Mr. Bluff was teaching about the Israel-North Africa war during the societal collapse during the year of 2205. The sheer amount of evolved who abused their powers caused the number of civilian deaths to surpass even the nuclear fallout at Kinshasa caused by Robert Mbale.
Oliver found he was remembering things a lot easier than he used to. Maybe it was because the class was a bit more interesting than normal? Wait...
Oliver reached for the phone in his pants' pocket and quietly opened the System App.
The status screen popped up, but Oliver clicked on only one stat.
********************************
Intelligence: 16.8
This stat correlates with one's ability to perceive and process information before deciding. There is no specific unit of measurement for intelligence. It's advised to increase its value as it allows for better perception and efficient decision-making.
This stat compliments [Magic power], User is incapable of reading this stat at the moment, and thus further information is locked.

It suddenly made sense. Oliver's intelligence had improved somewhat after the daily tasks two days ago. But wait... why were the effects only showing now? It was such a minor improvement too, so how was Oliver able to understand more of what the teacher was say-
"Mr. Smith!"
Oliver literally jumped and stared wide-eyed at Mr. Bluff, giving him the death glare through those black-rimmed spectacles of his. He placed down his smart board stylus onto the desk and folded his arms.
"What was the last thing I just said..."
"Ah..."
****************************
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
"Please stop laughing..."
Oliver wished he could die as he sat in the highest row on the gym bleachers. Elaine and Jack were below him, stretching until they stopped to laugh at him when he recounted his day. Elaine laughed so hard she had to hold her sides, while Jack also found it funny but tried to hide his face. It was after school and the three of them were carrying out their practice, but it would be more accurate to say only two of them were practicing while the other one was just tagging along. Oliver preferred to not see it in such a way though.
"Anyway... guys, I have a proposal. Nothing but workout today?"
Jack finally stopped laughing and looked up at Oliver with a laughing smile on his face.
"What do you mean?"
Oliver climbed down the bleachers and landed on the smooth gym floor with barely any effort. He ruffled his black hair with his hands as he grinned crookedly.
"You know, simple stuff... pushups, situps, field laps..."
"Why? We do that shit every day."
Elaine was now in the lowest row of the bleachers and was sipping water from a water bottle. As a member of the school's girls football team, she carried it with her every time she was in school. A nice blue cylinder plastic bottle with a sun imprint on its side.
Oliver remembered Jack had bought her that bottle over 4 years back.
Jack gave a silent smile at the sight.
"I know we do it every day... but how about we go the extra mile? Like an extra hundred of everything."
Elaine raised a brow at that, but then simply shrugged.
"If you can keep up with us, then sure, let's go with it."
