Chapter 19 - The magic academy exam (3/7)

Sheila walked through the roads of the noble district leisurely. She was heading in the direction of the magic academy that was in the western scholar district of the city. A district dedicated to all sorts of research into magic and other things. It was the district that had the most amount of nobles lurking around. The magic academy was one of four across the kingdom and was mostly dedicated to elemental magic research.

The entry fee was at least 600 gold coins and at least a power value of B rank. Anybody with lower ranks wasn't allowed in even if they were nobles. To Sheila, however, these rules meant nothing as she had ways to override them all. She doubted that she actually had to since the price was easy to cover and she couldn't believe that those angels were weaker than a B rank.

She suddenly stopped in her tracks when she thought this and brought her finger to her chin to think carefully.

{Come to think of it...I couldn't sense any sort of aura or power from any of those angels, just that boy's sword. The girl with the bow on the other hand was completely normal. How strong are they? is there strength so great I can't sense it or is someone purposely cloaking it for them.}

She then regretted thinking about it since that if anyone wanted to cloak their strength for them it was obvious that Overpowered god Jesus. She wanted nothing more to do with him. She made a quick walk to the magic academy and was only stopped once by a person who claimed to be an old friend of hers. A part of the curse placed on her by that former king of hers.

She was soon at the gates of the magic academy and all sorts of carriages were around her with people alighting and students from the academy handing out papers. Sheila acted with the crowd and received a paper from a student. She didn't read it though and simply walked to the gates. There were two security guards in black suits at the gates.

This was the usual attire for the Magic tower association which watched over all of the ongoings of magic across the city. Their owner was the king himself but he left matters to the council. The guards gave Sheila one glance and stepped to the side to welcome her in. Several of the other nobles, teenagers and commoners were astounded by this as every single one of them had been denied access earlier.

She held the paper in her hand and approached the main building of the academy that stood tall and gloriously with statues of people in cloaks by the entrance. She pushed the glass doors open and walked in with her [Authority] skill activated. Nobody dared to look at her twice as they all stepped to the side. She was heading towards the Dean's office and wanted to punch a wall while she was at it but that could be considered a crime.

She climbed the stairs to the second floor and headed to the auditorium that was on another building connected to the second floor. She flung the doors open with a push and could see a single man sitting on a chair up on the podium with a book in his hands. He noticed Sheila's entry and immediately frowned while snapping his book shut.

"What exactly is it that I can help you with today miss Sheila..."

"I would like to register three people for your school's entrance exams."

"Miss Sheila, I'm afraid I can't do that...we already have a full list of three thousand awaiting to perform the exam. All others had been rejected and I can't favour you over the others I rejected."

"I know this is not a good time but I would still like to register them for the exam. You owe me Willmore."

"Really Sheila...you want to start that topic now?"

"We can avoid it if you simply allow me to register these people."

"No means no Sheila!"

Sheila was now frustrated with Willmore and really wanted to smash something. This was why she preferred to stay at her cafe rather than be home at the mansion where some random noble would appear and claim to know her. Then there was this guy who had more than once extorted her for his personal gain yet never returned the favors.

Sheila wanted to smite him where he sat.

"I am not asking for anything troublesome Willmore...just to add three students to your roster! I'm not even asking for you to allow them immediate entry into the school!"

"Hmm...just who are the three people you want to take the exams?"

"Family, they're my family and I would like for them to take a chance at becoming stronger with their abilities even if they do fail the exam."

This was a total lie but Willmore didn't know that. Willmore was now suspicious and tried to leave the auditorium through a door to the right but found a barrier blocking his path.

"Do you really want to do this Sheila?"

"I have a mission to accomplish and you have a favor to fullfil...might as well do both right now."

Willmore sighed and moved his hands to his waist and pulled out two concealed magic daggers. He cut through the barrier with his right dagger in a single slash. Thinking he was done he stepped forward only to meet another barrier.

"You really want to try my patience?"

"It seems you've forgotten...who here has been tolerating bullshit longer."

Willmore laughed and turned to face Sheila with his two daggers in hand. They seemed to release an aura of bloodthirsty that spread across the entire auditorium but Sheila was not the least bit frightened.

She was a former divine being...she could've killed this entire city but wasn't allowed to by some kind of external force that silenced her divine powers. She thought that it was probably some curse placed on her by her former king.

Her eyes flashed golden before she placed her fists before her and started chanting.

They quickly jumped at each other with Willmore's dagger aiming for her throat and Sheila's punch for Willmore's cheek.

The angels had a pretty eventful day with food breaks appearing every hour. Alicia had completely explored the mansion and had even unveiled her wings in the backyard. She had no reason to hide them and with Kyle they practiced with their weapons for two hours. Hannah was still in the study doing her reading and solving. She had filled two notebooks with notes and calculations that she tried to integrate with what she already knew from home.

The magic in this world was a tad bit complicated and Hannah tried her best eventually finishing the first book and heading to another.

Myrac let himself out and ate the bread that had arrived earlier for Hannah but she completely ignored it.

He was a bit helpful with the magic theories Hannah put together but was silent for the most part. He eventually left the study and headed to the backyard where he could sense his master's companions.

He found them training and silently sat on nearby grass to watch them.

The day passed by quickly and the angels all gathered at the study to have a game of start-stop.

It's a game where a specific alphabet from any language is chosen. (all players must be fluent in the chosen language). There would be papers handed out to each player and a game master to watch over the game. The game master would choose a random player and they would think through the alphabet as quickly as they could until the game master tell them to stop. The last letter that the player thought of before being stopped is chosen. With this letter the players are given half a minute to think of five different categories of things that started with this letter.

The chosen categories for their game were;

Animals

weapons

food

occupations and

places.

when the half minute is over players are asked to move away from the papers and the game master reads them. They then start calculating points on their own sheet of paper.

If two or more players chose the same answer for a single category they are given 5 points, if they wrote nothing 0 points and if they wrote something that the other players hadn't they were given 10 points. The winner was decided after 7 rounds.

Alicia won with 70 points followed by Hannah with 65 and Kyle with 50.

They then headed to backyard to talk while under the shade of a tree. The sun set was beautiful and quick, the angels and Myrac all headed inside to their rooms to change as they wanted to have a bath.

There was a bathhouse on the first floor that was cleaned daily and supplied with hot water by an underground stream. The bathhouse was mixed and the angels had a a good talk while in the bath. They weren't ashamed of their naked bodies and since they were all close friends it didn't matter. Myrac was also asked to join them but he refused and dismissed himself.
