The ride in the carriage back to the castle was currently silent apart from the sharp hooves that could be heard from the four horses in front.
Katherine was still shaken up reflecting on the attempt on her life, but Lucian's presence beside her kept her reasonably calm. If he hadn't caught that arrow she'd be dead by now, be it by poison or by the impact.
She remembered how his hand had sizzled with smoke when he touched it but now his hand had healed. For once, Katherine was grateful to have him by her side.
Katherine snuck a glance at Lucian, thinking he didn't notice her stares but he did. "How do you feel?" Lucian asked bluntly which startled her.
"Much better," Katherine said as she cleared her throat. Her dress hung low and contrasted her skin as it was an off-shoulder red velvet dress with slits at the arm sleeve. Her unease could be seen simply from the strains around her neck as she gulped.
