Chapter 14 - Kakariko Graveyard

He looked quite gloomy. Link approached the first tomb, larger than the others, which read: "RIP Here lie the souls of those who swore allegiance to the royal family of Hyrule. The sheikah, guardians of the royal family and founders of Kakariko, watch over these spirits in their eternal rest. "

There was also a boy playing with a stick among the paths of the graves, who lamented that he could not attend the "exciting excursion to the cemetery", and grunted, as if imitating someone, but if his purpose was to scare, he was not doing it well. .

Link turned away from him and started reading some graves. They all had the same pictures: the Triforce and under it some wings. When he got to the end it started to rain, which seemed very strange to Link because he hadn't seen any clouds. At the end of the cemetery there were three graves, two on the sides of a larger one and in front of it the symbol of the Triforce on the ground. Said it was also the emblem of the royal family.

Link approached the largest tomb and prayed: "Royal Pantheon", but he didn't quite understand what it meant. He approached the grave on the left and said: "Composer brothers. Held up, the old man. RIP", and as soon as he finished reading a ghost dressed in gray appeared before his eyes with a lamp in one hand. Link began attacking him left and right, but the ghost disappeared although his lamp was still visible. When he reappeared, Link attacked him again and then the ghost was paralyzed, shrunk and the lamp fell to the ground, showing a green flame that said:

" AAAAH!" YOU KILLED ME ... -Link froze -¡ Incredible! And now she was astonished -¿ Eh ...? Wait ... You're not one of Ganondorf's followers, are you? Link shook his head. "Due to my ghost status I have to do that." My apologies. Ahem ... Let me introduce myself.

"I am the ghost of one of Kakariko's famous songwriting brothers. All the inhabitants of this town serve the royal family of Hyrule. My brother and I also served them by studying the mystical powers that they have inherited from generation to generation. Although we never managed to deciphering the power of the Triforce, we had almost finished our study of time control through ocarina notes. Well, actually ... we did finish our studies! We would have been very famous if that evil Ganondorf hadn't tried to steal our effort. We couldn't let him take advantage of the fruit of our studies ... That's why we took all our knowledge to the grave — and he disappeared.

Link supposed that doing the same thing in the other tomb would happen the same, so he went over and read: "Composer brothers. Flat, the young man. RIP", and indeed, another ghost that looked younger than the previous one and dressed as Blue appeared and Link repeated the same process until the green flame appeared and said:

" AAAAH!" I'M DEAD AGAIN ... Wait, do we meet? Link shrugged. "In a way, you remind me of ... Princess Zelda ... Hmm ... Since you have a link to the royal family, I think I can give you more details on our history."

"At that time, we were considered great composers because of the many masterpieces we light up. But we weren't really composers. Our mission was to study the mysterious powers of the Hyrule royal family. We would have gone down in Hyrule history if we could have given to know our findings! But we always kept our study secret. To tell the truth, each of us studied a song: one to invoke the Sun and another to invoke the Moon. If it is true that you have been sent by a family member royal, then I will reveal the findings of our study to you. We left it inscribed on the royal tombstone. As an emissary of the royal family, you must show your credentials on the symbol of the Triforce - and it also disappeared.

Link then knew that he should touch Zelda's Lullaby on the symbol. He did so, and then thunder began to be heard and lightning was visible in the distance. Then everything went dark and lightning struck the largest grave , which broke, causing Link to fall a bit far and showing a hole to enter.

Following what the songwriting ghosts told him, Link stepped into the hole and fell into a stone hallway. It was cold and a little damp. He began to advance to a door. He opened it and then the door closed behind him with bars. In the room there were several bones and skulls, some bats and on the other side some stairs with a door at the end, also with bars.

Then the bats, called Keese began to attack Link, but he easily eliminated them with his sword and suddenly the bars were removed from the two doors. Then Navi flew up to a skeleton in the room and it seemed to be talking. It said: "Those who enter the royal pantheon will be chased by night stalkers."

Link was startled by that warning, but kept moving forward. He went up to the other door and came to another corridor, this time made of concrete, at the end of which were blue-green lights. He came to the room that had ponds of a strange liquid with that blue-green color. Voices were also heard like monstrous breaths until Link saw some strange men who looked like zombies.

He approached one and then his whole body froze and he saw how the zombie turned to look at him very macabre and shouted threateningly. When Link regained movement, the zombie was already very close to him, but he reacted quickly and began to attack him until the zombie fell to the ground, but it did not disappear like the other enemies did, but stayed there, on the ground. , motionless.

There were more zombies, but in order not to repeat the same event, Link walked around them and continued to another corridor on the other side of the room. In the next room there were other pools of the same liquid, and the floor of the corridor continued as a bridge between the pools. At the end there was another tomb with the Triforce on top, and when Link reached it, he read: "This poem was written in memory of the members of the royal family who are with us." The sunlight will finally dissipate, a newborn will find its fate. The Sun and the Moon are to dethrone ... And the undead seek solace. '"

Link found it a bit extravagant, and then he saw one more inscription on the tombstone. It was a staff with several notes. It was surely the secret of the composer brothers. Link touched it with the Ocarina and as soon as he touched it, he felt, as with Zelda's Nana, that he already knew it and continued to play the Song of the Sun. He kept reading on the tombstone: "Almas si pena wandering without direction or control. Give them their well-deserved rest with the Song of the Sun.

To prove what that poem said, Link played the song in front of the zombies from before (who were called ReDead by the way), and was surprised to see how they froze white. Taking advantage of that, he hurried out of the Royal Pantheon.

When he went outside, he realized that it was already night and it had already stopped raining. He ran to leave the cemetery, but an old man who was standing around with a shovel shouted:

" Hey kid!" Be careful what you do with the graves! I am Dampé, the gravedigger. My face may be scary, but I'm not a bad guy ... I'm going to tell you about my other business. The exciting excursion to the cemetery of Dampé the gravedigger! What will we find? What will come out? When I start digging, we'll find out! If you want me to dig, you will have to give me 10 rupees. Anytime.

Link thanked him, but at the moment he couldn't do that, so he left the graveyard. He went to the stairs that the guard had told him and when he got to the top he saw another wall, this time of concrete with bars and another guard watching.

Link saw a sign that read: "Mountain of Death. No Trespassing Without Royal Authorization." After this, Link approached the guard, who said:

" The road is closed from here!" Don't you see the poster there? Link was about to answer when the guard continued. "Oh, I understand." You are a child and you still cannot read. Hahaha!

Link got quite annoyed with that, so he looked for the letter Zelda had given him and showed it to the guard, who started reading it and then said:

" It's Princess Zelda's handwriting, I have no doubt about that!" But I don't understand ... "This is Link ... He's under my command to save Hyrule." What kind of game has our princess come up with now? Well OK. You can pass. But be careful, Mister Hero! And he laughed very strangely. He opened the bars for him and continued saying, "By the way, Mr. Hero." If you are going to climb the Mountain of Death, you should equip yourself with a good shield. Remember that it is an active volcano! If you go back to the citadel square, you should visit the bazaar. There you can buy the shield. Say that you are doing my part to get a special discount!

Link took him at his word and went to the citadel, even if it was at night, which was not a problem because the road dawned (at this point he thought that time was passing very quickly). When he got to the square, he headed for the bazaar, which was on the right as he entered. As she entered, she saw various products and a very nice gray and blue shield with various drawings and the Triforce inscribed on it. When talking to the clerk he asked for the shield, which cost 80 rupees, but when mentioning the guard at the gate of Death Mountain, the clerk left it for 45 rupees.

Link took off the Deku shield that he had had until now and put on the new one, which was called the Hylian Shield, for being from Hyrule, but with the news that it was too big for him, but at least it would protect him more. He returned to Kakariko and went to the door of Death Mountain and began to climb.
