Many people know the story of the Foxx clan though none know of its true ending, all stories of the Foxx clan end with the clan still being in the shadows using their powers to watch over humanity to this day, I don't know the whereabouts of the clan if any of its members still exist, no-one knows but we do know that their disappearance was what first sparked the calamities of this world, after all at first the Foxx clan was just a clan of humans with a purpose.
Long ago before any of your known ancestors were born, there was Earth, on Earth humans and other races prospered, before the age of monsters it was the age of magic. In the age of magic, there lived three predominant clans these clans were the most advanced in their respective talents, there were the Starfall Clan who were advanced in the way of technology with them spearheading the advancement of all the technology we used to have, the Kirigomi Clan who were advanced in the way of fighting and combative techniques it was said they could use any martial art just by witnessing it, and finally, the Foxx clan who were the most advanced in the forms of magic and its many uses. The Foxx clan in particular were much more open than the other two in their techniques with them teaching people from smaller clans or those who weren't from prominent families. But when human hubris cursed the entire planet and Earth was banished to the farthest reaches of the galaxy the Foxx clan was the only one that suffered. With the ability to see, manipulate, and concentrate mana taken from the human race which was the majority of the Foxx clan. As their power and authority dwindled they went from one of the major clans to the weakest. The Foxx clan had fallen, but then a mysterious stranger covered in a green cloak wearing what seemed to be an adorning headpiece with deer antlers covering his face. He introduced himself as a fallen hero sent by the Earth herself and that came with a remedy to their problem. He pulled out what appeared to be a large withered heart with a noticeable tear in one side, likely from a blade.
"This!" He called. "Is the essence of a god. I was tasked with finding someone to help revive him. And I couldn't think of anyone better than the clan which was once so proficient with magic they could alter the physical laws." The man went on and on and with his speech, more members of the clan came to hear the commotion. "I believe that the Foxx clan should revive him and if this task should be completed your ability of magic shall return." He called out and was greeted with a roar of approval. The leader of the clan walked forward and took the "heart" from the man,
"On behalf of the disgraced Foxx clan, we are honored to take this mission from Gaea herself, but I must ask before you go, sir. What is it they call you? All spirits have a name and I would like to know so I can call upon you when we complete the task." The old man's voice echoed throughout the now quiet crowd.
The man grinned, "I have gone by many names even as I was alive, but you may refer to me as Fale*." Fale laughed as his long green cloak surrounded him and he vanished as if collapsing into the ground before their eyes.
The clan, now excited with this task put themselves back to work secluding themselves from the world as they worked hard on the mission. Many months passed, then years, until two decades had passed with little to no ground had been gained. The clan had slowly become dejected as many gave up on their tasks leaving only 12 people from the earlier hundreds that continued to work on the heart.
"I don't understand we've tried everything to get the essence to awaken but nothing's worked!" One of the workers threw his research off the table. Many of the other researchers agreed and were about to leave the area where the heart was located before the leader of the clan, now in his nineties, called them back.
"There's still one thing we haven't tried." He called, "There's one ritual we should try, follow me." He beckoned as he led the group, now carrying the heart, to an old building. "Here set the essence down, circle the heart, and close your eyes let me test this out." He ordered and the researchers decided it wasn't the dumbest thing they had tested so they agreed. Suddenly the 12 men felt a sharp pain in their chests as they looked down and say swords struck through their chests and they collapsed to the ground dead. The old man laughed;
"Sorry, my sweet children but I noticed around 1 week ago that the heart reacted to life force especially that of humans, but don't worry I'll make sure that the clan remembers your names in honor of your sacrifice for our powers." He laughed maniacally as he called upon the essence to return to them. The heart absorbed the blood flowing from the bodies and started to beat slowly before speeding up until the noise was near deafening to the old man, he stumbled outside the storage house as clan members started to circle around the entrance as the beating accelerated until it suddenly stopped. In the silence, the people were confused by what it was but noticed their clan leader grinning ear to ear until the storage room door opened revealing a large humanoid figure covered in black markings all over his skin, and pitch-black horns sprouting from his forehead curving backward. The figure opened his eyes to reveal pitch-black with two white dots where normal humans pupils would be.
"Was it you who awakened me?" The being spoke in a deep tone paralyzing the entire village. "I permit you to speak to me." He spoke looking at the old man.
The Clan leader was frozen in fear, the pressure this being was emitting was much more sinister than that of a god more like a devil! "Y-yes I did. You're the god we were tasked with reviving right?" He trembled.
"A god? Yes, you could very well say that I am a god." He stepped forward, it seemed with every step he took the pressure he emitted crushed the clan members.
"We were told that by reviving you we'd gain our powers back!" One clan member spoke up followed by a chorus of agreements.
"So you want your gift of magic back you say? Very well after all you'll be able to use magic every second of your lives." He laughed maniacally as shadows spread from his body piercing every clan member in sight, but the worse part was yet to come. As the shadow-like tendrils withdrew from them their bodies began to morph into monstrous beasts brimming with mana. "From now on you serve me as beasts of my will. hunt down every mortal being and kill them." He ordered as the beasts spread from the clan's village leaving naught but the children. "As for you children, you're lucky I have a soft spot for young people, I shall spare you but your life as this accursed race is over" More shadowy tendrils pierced their bodies as animalistic features sprouted from their bodies. The man laughed as he heard the sound of screams in the distance, "What a wonderful day to return to the soil of Gaea." He grinned while walking through the village gates disappearing into the forests.
Or at least that's how the tale goes, no-one knows if this was how the beast-kin race came to be or where the mana beasts formed but it's the most accepted theory. As for Fale, no-one knows if they were real or a way for the Foxx clan to take less blame for the incident of reviving a demon.
