Long ago weapons of great power existed, better than the strongest enchanted tools of this magical age. Each one had an ability like no other and although how most were created is unknown much like their whereabouts we do know of one such weapon, Relentless The Unorthodox Blade. Relentless is a damaged blade about 1.5 feet long, the sides of the blade are extremely dull and the only sharp parts are the handle and the very tip, if it weren't for the wide blade you'd think it was meant for piercing like a rapier. Now that we know what it looks like, shall we delve into its past? Relentless has gone through many masters each one passing on via old age, but its creator is the most interesting, Yasuke Meron.
Yasuke Meron was a simple spiritsmith, he used spirit's powers to smith weapons and tools with natural enchantments on them. But one day the God of Lightning and Longevity took notice of the human's ability and sought to have a weapon forged by him, one more powerful than any other gods so he could slay them and ascend to being a Primordial.
"One week." The god said, " I will give you one week to create me my weapon. If you do I'll grant you and your descendants' immortality" He smiled. Yasuke was confident in his smithing abilities so he asked one question,
"Is it alright if I make more than one weapon and have you test them? " He inquired looking at the benevolent being in front of him.
"Quite a cocky human are you? Fine, I'll allow it. But then I'll up that stakes, If you don't create one to my satisfaction then I can do whatever I please to you and your family." He smiled sinisterly. Yasuke was shaken for a second but regained his composure.
"It's a deal. Leave it to me. I won't fail you." He said extending his hand. The god took it and thunder crackled above.
"It appears the other gods will honor this as well, perfect." The god looked back to Yasuke who had already gathered his tools. "I'll allow one last boon, your week will not start till the morning after tomorrow's moonfall. I await your progress." He laughed as he disintegrated into pure lightning and vanished with a peal of cackling laughter. Yasuke watched as the lightning dissipated and turned towards his forge. Readying the flames and gather pounds of pure metals and valuable gems he prepared to make his masterpiece. For the first two days of his mission, he pounded away at steel and iron melding it with spirits of flames and wind. He forged two weapons, an ax primarily of steel with an elder wood handle, the spirit engraved on It was of wind but it wasn't good enough. He forged more and more until sweat drenched his forehead and he finished a short blade with flames constantly swirling around it, He lifted the blade and admired the pristine rubies embedded into the hilt and the blade's curvature allowing for fluid movements. He felt that this was the best weapon he had ever created and decided to call down the god to receive his handiwork. [ I finished after two days! surely he'll be impressed] He thought giddily as the god materialized in the forge room.
"Let's see this masterpiece." The being spoke in a raspy tone. He lifted the ax and swung it causing a torrent of winds to slash in that direction moving many other weapons that riddled the walls even sputtering the flames that blazed within the forge. "Interesting now the next." The god set the ax down and lifted the blazing blade. The flames swirled up as if activated by his touch, the flames shifted color from a brilliant red to a radiant yellow hue. The god took a step outside and readied the blade thrusting it forward causing a column of flames to spew from the tip incinerating every tree in its path up to 30 feet away and leaving the distinct scent of a thunderstorm behind. "Very nicely done." The god smiled, then frowned squeezing his palm bending the blade, and dropping it into the dirt. "But not good enough, that weapon is only 5% complete I'd need something twenty times that power." He spoke in his signature raspy tone before starting to dissipate only stopping at Yasuke's outrage.
"TWENTY TIMES! That blade was the best I've ever made it had the most powerful spirit I've ever tamed within it you expect me to find something twenty times more powerful and forge it!" He shouted motioning the now-defunct blade resting in the dirt.
"Of course! after all, wasn't it you who said leave it to me? I won't fail you?" The god snickered his smiled widening to an unnatural size. Yasuke shuddered remembering his own words, he was silent. "That's what I thought. I'm expecting great things from you Spiritsmith. DON'T disappoint me." The god spoke fiercely before vanishing again leaving Yasuke standing there befuddled.
[How am I supposed to find and tame a spirit twenty times that power!?] Yasuke thought as he cleared up his smithing table. {I'd need something on par with a g-] Yasuke stopped as a particular thought passed through his head. [A deal is the same as a pact, and a pact is used to tame spirits.] He grinned widely. Yasuke burst out in a peal of loud laughter before packing food and adventuring gear and leaving his forge with the biggest smile he'd ever had. For 3 days straight he traveled, he left his family behind in search of the highest grade materials for his next masterpiece. he climbed the highest mountain peak for steel, he reached the cursed forest and took two branches, and he settled by a spring blessed by the goddess of water. [Now I have all I need.] Yasuke grinned as he summoned a fire spirit and used it to heat the metal to a boil and hardening it with frost, he hammered away for hours straight constantly heating up and freezing the metal as he slowly shaped it into a long thick blade. Now the time had come, midnight came across the land as Yasuke thrust the heated metal into the blessed waters, hearing the sound of familiar clapping behind him.
"My oh my, Yasuke." The god grinned, "Trying to run you fool?" Yasuke gulped as he stood slowly and turned to the large figure.
"No, just searching for the best materials to forge your weapon with," He lowered his head in a respectful bow.
The god's large smile curled even more, "Oh my and where might this weapon be then?" he cackled ready to sentence the smith. Yasuke was silent then smiled.
"Right here." He turned his back and reached into the frigid waters pulling out what appeared to be at first a hunk of iron roughly beaten into the shape of a dull blade, it's was quite short even for a normal blade and its sides were dull.
"You must be joking," The god's smile faded as he turned back, lightning crackling around his shoulder blades forming an allusion of wings. "Clearly it's not finished I'll give you till noon," he spoke, ready to head off again when Yasuke's next words stopped him.
"Oh, Not at all my liege, it is finished," The god turned to see Yasuke's large thin smile. "It's designed to look unassuming but it's over twenty times stronger than the last blade. Just like you wanted." He snickered.
The god turned completely around his eyes glowing a bright white, "If you're lying to me it will cost you much more than our previous deal." Yasuke only smiled, before s=striding towards the god.
"Allow me to explain and demonstrate. If you'll allow it?" Yasuke looked to the god for confirmation getting a nod in return. "Then watch this, Yasuke raised the heavy blade above his head and readied his body before swinging the blade straight down past the god causing a disturbance in the wind creating a small wind funnel that promptly dissipated.
The god, very much unimpressed, looked at Yasuke his eyes burning with a soft rage. "I told you not to lie to me or there'd be consequences, the blade is unfinished and our deal is done you will suffer much more than I originally intended." The god raised his hand to swipe down on Yasuke but Yasuke's smile stopped him.
"My liege I didn't lie, turn around and you'll see." Yasuke pointed. The god turned his back and only then did he notice the aftermath the blade had caused. When Yasuke had swung the blade the slash had continued many hundreds of meters cutting down everything in its path and far into the distance the god could even see a sizeable crack in the mountain many miles away.
"This is much more than I expected! How did you make it this powerful!? More importantly why did you?" The god looked at the carnage with a crazy smile, "Imagine the fights I'd get into and the wars I'd win." He cackled slightly.
"Well after our first encounter where you destroyed my masterpiece I had a thought. Why use a lesser spirit to make a weapon for a higher being? So I collected the strongest materials and forged them into a blade, possibly the strongest most durable blade in existence." Yasuke explained but the god paid him no attention. The god was imagining all of the fights he'd win and how no one, not even a primordial would win if they fought him with this blade. His imagination only stopped by a sudden sharp pain in his back. He feels suddenly and for the first time in his existence felt pain. [What is this feeling?] The god turned only now noticing the injury befallen upon him. He stared unbelieving at Yasuke holding his arm severed by the very blade he had just shown off.
He fell to the ground clutching his wound pouring the golden blood akin to divine beings. "You'd dare to strike and injure a god?" He smiled feebly barely keeping his composure. [How did he even pierce my skin human blades shouldn't even leave a scratch!?] he thought wildly staring at Yasuke as he threw his arm to the side.
"Before this little show is over allow me to finish the demonstration." He smiled evilly, "This blade forged with divine metal and the handle imbued with dead souls. and the flames quelled in the lake blessed by spirits. Of course, it'd be able to injure a god. But you know the interesting thing about gods?" Yasuke knelt down grabbing the god by his wiry hair. "They're just a higher form of spirit!" He thrust the blade deep into his neck sticking through the other end, golden blood sprayed from both sides of the wound as it showered Yasuke who was laughing maniacally. [ME a GOD slayer! why let them fight the battles when I can kill them like an animal!?] He thought imagining the blade being drowned in more golden blood, the thought excited him more and more.
"I'm not letting you..." Yasuke looked down to see the god grabbing his ankle barely holding onto life.
"A god on the ground before a human.." Yasuke smirked bending down to his face. "I'll finish you off now." he lifted the blade ready to pierce his skull.
"That's my line!" The god shouted pulling Yasuke's ankle dragging him to the floor. He then wrestled the blade from his hand and staggered to his feet. kneeling on top of Yasuke's chest.
"Do it!' Yasuke shouted smiling crazily, "I've done nothing wrong in my life I know the god of the afterlife will give me salvation, Even in DEATH I'll succeed." He cackled staring up at the injured divine being.
The god sighed, "I know, Even if I kill your soul will go to salvation," He took a deep breath, "But if your soul never leaves this realm then There goes your salvation!" The god struck down as Yasuke's eyes widened, his mouth opened wide to protest but no words came out just a guttural gurgling sound as the blade pierced his throat and twisted. A red shower in every direction covering the god and the blade. The god felt his life force slowly ebbing away so he quickly sealed his powers into the blade, as well as Yasuke's soul. "This blade will kill all who hold it, though with it comes the power to live forever, those who take it up will be judged as I failed to do. The power much like the soul inside is unrelenting and will never fail. I name thee Relentless."
