THIS IS A GORE WARNING SO IF YOU DO NOT LIKE VISUAL DESCRIPTIONS OF GORE AND DEATH DO NOT READ.
Children tremble upon the tale of a creature of darkness, one that came to take away troublesome kids never to be seen again. This creature is the Nightstalker, though its full body is never completely seen just noticing its features have led adults to insanity. with long black limbs devoid of flesh or muscle just withered skin over bone, its torso is short and covered in fur and feather, from its back sprouts 4 long tendrils covered in spikes much like the thorns on rosebuds, and its head, canine in appearance, has no lower jaw. These are the words that are frequently used to describe the Nightstalker, though very few have ever lived to tell the tale. My Grandmother, Jane, told me the story back when I was a child, though I've never seen it my grandmother claimed to have not only seen it but survive its attack, this is what she told me.
It was a bright, sunny summer day and her folks and friends went camping outside the city quite a ways, they had been prepared for the warm weather and the likelihood of rain around the lake. They had come here often every other year in the middle of summer. This was a special day as it was her 10th birthday and she had brought all her friends with her to stay the weekend. During the day they had fun and swam in the lake, once it had become too dark for swimming and playing around they went back to the campsite to sleep, tomorrow was the last day of the trip and when they would celebrate, so they all went to bed rather early everyone but Jane. Jane was too excited to sleep, her birthday was tomorrow after all, she was giggling and thinking of the party to come with the next morning when she heard a noise outside the tent.
"Hello?" She heard the voice of a guy outside, "Is someone here?" The voice asked once again.
She readied herself and answered, " Yes I'm here who are you?"
"Ah! someone is here I was hoping I wouldn't be alone." The voice sighed souding somewhat relieved.
"Sorry your voice startled me at first but what are you doing all the way out here?" Jane questioned.
"Ah well I don't know exactly, but I feel like im waiting for something fun to happen." It answered back. Jane was confused at first but then her childish nature peaked in.
"I'm having a birthday party tomorrow if you want to celebrate it with us you can!" She replied excitedly. The voice was silent for a moment before answering back.
"You'd really invite me to a party?" It inquired.
"Yes!" she nodded her head furiously now seeing a small shadow spread over the tent entrance, it was humanoid and it's shape wavered slightly, though Jane assumed this was because of the fire illuminating him.
"Well come on outside I'd like to see the birthday girl." The voice beckoned.
"Sorry my parents said I can't leave my tent unless I'm going to theirs or else I won't get a party tomorrow." She said sadly but then perked back up. "But I can look outside the tent though then you could see my face."
The voice let out a chuckle that dropped in pitch slightly, "Sure open up the tent Jane I'd love to see the birthday girl." Jane smiled as she scuttled over to the tent door and started to unzip the entrance. as she pulled it all the way open she noticed that there was no-one there and sitting around the fire were her parents though their heads were gone. Before Jane could scream at the sight she heard the voice once more.
"LeT's PlAY ToGETher JaNE!" she looked up in horror as a pitch black mass descended on the tent from the trees.
A week had passed since the police had been called for missing children, as well as a family during a camping expedition. After searching for many days they had finally found the campsite which was a mess, the three tents were scratched up and torn open where all of the resident's belongings were laid out also damaged, the firepit was surrounded by 10 chairs and from what they saw two of the chairs had blood splatters behind them. Searching for another few hours they were ready to say they were killed by wild animals when they found a caves entrance on the other side of the lake. The large entrans into the murky depths of the cave were outlined with trees and would've been impossible to see unless you had known it was there. The two policemen readied their firearms and flashlights as they descended the stony tunnel. Not far into the cave it opened up into a small cavern, in the room was a sight that would haunt all of them for the rest of their lives. strewn around the room were humans bones and carcasses not just on the floor but hanging from the ceiling on stalagtites and impaled on stalagmites. in the middle of the room was a large table covered completely in blood and organs, more than likely from the other people in the room. sitting at the table were ten people, 8 kids and two adults. the adults had all of their limbs torn off and seemingly had their blood drained onto the floor. the children were in slightly better shaoe but still gone, their faces torn clean off revelaing the muscle and bones beneath their hands and fingers broken black and blue with a symbol carved into all of their palms. The only person their who was in good shape was a young girl wearing flower print pajamas, with short brown hair, she was covered in many cuts some of which had already started healing, and that was when they realized she was alive. As they were planning to pick her up and take her out of the cave and away from the gruesome sight, they noticed the wall behind the little girl, written on it in blood were the words. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANE. and all of the children's faces were plastered there in a perpetual smile. The police had had enough and left the cavern reporting their findings to their superiors before taking Jane to the hospital to be treated, she lived but with complete memory of the incident, and even if she wanted to forget she still had the scar imprinted onto her arm, a dog's head saying the words, "Happy Birthday Jane".
