Dusk hits my window, and harsh winds made my dreamcatcher sway, almost pulling it away from my ceiling outside my porch.
I've decided to turn the television back on while making dinner.
"Good evening, citizens of Autumnsberg. There have been numerous reports about the news report that was aired this morning. Almost over 50 residents have claimed to witness the same actions of the exact creature that was stated in the morning news. It has been also reported that the victims of the said creature tends to transform into one of them like zombies, but instead of biting, they tend to scratch people. We suggest that you barricade your doors and windows. And to citizens who have bunkers, please do stay there and keep everything secured, and wait for further announcements in your radios. Warning, this is not a drill. barricade your doors and windows and wait for further announcements. Military will be on their-."
Again with the static. I casually poured my hot water into a bowl full of instant noodles with its seasonings and covered it with a plate to cook.
I grabbed my phone and contacted Mama.
"Fleur, my child... Oh Lord... Have you heard of the news?"
"Heard it loud and clear, Ma. Listen. I want you all to stay put. I'll be heading home. Barricade your windows and doors. I will knock 5 times on the door, do you understand? Keep Pops and Myk safe." I ended the call. I scribbled through my phone to contact my childhood friend, Stef. I won't be leaving her behind. I have to bring her to Laguna too, her family is there as well, so it's a good idea to also bring her with me.
There was a short ring through the phone.
"Fleur? Fleur! Oh my goodness, did you just f*ckin' watched the news tonight?! HOLY COW!"
"Yes. And they're multiplying. Listen, I'm going back home to Laguna, I need you to pack up because you're going with me as well. It's no fun when you're surviving without your family."
I took a fork and spoon out and finally ate my noodles.
"O-okay. I'll be quick. I'll go run to your house..." Stef was stuttering, she was scared of what is happening.
I've read a lot of zombie survival through a lot of e-books and I didn't actually thought that it might happen. After eating, I threw my bowl in the sink and drank water and went straight to my garage to search for a weapon that is good for self-defense.
I found an old cricket bat, a wrench, a hammer, and a heavy metal pole. I opened the back seat of my car and shove them under the seat except the metal pole.
I proceeded to go upstairs with it and started to pack my things inside a big backpack that is good for camping.
I grabbed several water bottles inside my fridge, a couple of protein bars and other snacks and waited at the front door, hoping for Stef's arrival.
Suddenly there was a shadow figure in front of my porch. Maybe it's Stef.
The figure was fast approaching. I opened the door, hoping it was Stef, when I heard a loud growl. My eyes widened as it crouched and jumped, pinning me on the ground. I screamed as I saw its face, its bloodshot eyes staring into me, it's face, distorted, looked like someone ran over it with wheels. Its arm rose up, about to dig into my stomach when I heard a loud clank. The monster was knocked out, but it was still moving. I looked at the person who did it.
"Fleur! Are you okay? Did it scratch you?!" Stef hurriedly pulled me up. I shook my head.
"He was about to. You're just in time." I said as I mercilessly swung my metal pole and hit its head for a couple of times. Blood spewed everywhere but it was fine, it was no longer flinching.
"Come on, we have to go now!" We quickly ran towards my car and opened the garage door. As soon as we were settled in, I hurriedly started the car and drove off like one of those car racers in those tv shows.
"Okay, can you tell me what the f*ck was that thing that just pounced on you?" Stef lets out a sharp sigh.
"Jesus he f*cking jumped for like a hundreds of meters away, how was he able to reach me at such distance?" I was confused as well, but I wasn't so sure about what I just encountered.
"Don't tell me all of those monsters could do that?!" Stef's voice was shaking.
"Only one way to find out." I murmured, not knowing what could be in our way back home.
