"So you're telling me, that your friend here, was recently attacked by an infected and she hasn't turned into one of 'em for 3 and a half hours now? I don't believe it." We sat by the living room as Stef packed up extra ammos in her bag. Her katana dangles on her waist on every step she takes.
"Stef, show him."
She showed her wrist and the man's eye widened.
"No sh*t fellas. But that's nasty. What did you do after?" He asked as he analyzed the wound.
"Well. We were desperate. And it's a dumb reason, really. We poured sh*t tons of alcohol on it." I said as I scratched my head.
"But you didn't saw it sizzle and bubble, Fleur." She said.
I raised a brow.
"Sizzle? And bubble?" I repeated with a confused look.
"May I look at the alcohol that you guys used?" Asked the man with a shotgun who was about to shoot me if I didn't cooperate a while ago.
I slipped my hands in my pocket to grab the alcohol and handed it to him.
"80% Solution. Hmmm. I guess Ethyl alcohols really did their thing to that infectious wound of yours, huh?" He chuckled.
"Though we are not sure and we will never be." He stood up and grabbed the shotgun and walked past me.
"So what now? Are we going to the military?" Stef asked.
"The military changed plans. Shoot to kill. Though I can help you. I have a valid ID to get in there. But first I need to give them a heads up." He looked at the telephone by the table and walked towards it.
Then there was something pounding on the window near the telephone, the guy aimed his gun and shoots. He missed.
"Damn it!" He screamed. He immediately grabbed the phone and ducked down, we did as well.
He immediately dialed the number.
"Hello?! This is Inspector Fajardo speaking. I have found lost citizens claiming to look for their families that lives here in Laguna. I will be taking them with me to Cebu, please do not lock the south borders. I repeat, do not lock the south borders! Send us a heli at the airport. Thank you." He said.
His fair skin and black sideswept hair reminded me of someone who I lost years ago and I don't want to remember who.
"Fleur? You okay?" Stef nudged my arm.
I nodded as I was brought back to reality.
"Alright ladies. Let's head out nice and quiet. These *ssholes can see and hear clearly, but most of them are special.
According to the military, the special infected has a certain skill, like that b*stard outside our house." Inspector Fajardo said.
"The military sure knows a lot of these in a short matter of time. Have they encountered a lot already?" Stef asked.
"Well yes." He stood up.
"Let's move."
We walked behind Inspector Fajardo, being alert and being extra careful of an attack.
"Let's use my car. I have a few weapons that you could also use at the trunk." He said as he jogged towards his car and opened the back of it.
My eyes widened as I saw an axe.
I used to cut trees after leaving Laguna to live with my ex-boyfriend, and it was a mistake living with him.
I took the axe and dropped my metal pole.
"Woah there little lady. Careful where you swing that hot stuff, okay?" He said.
I shrugged and nodded and went inside his car as he closed the trunk and went straight to the driver's seat.
The walkie-talkie lights up.
"Inspector, we have numerous missed calls from your phone, is there a problem?"
He grabbed the walkie-talkie and replied.
"Some douchebag stole my phone as I was inspecting an isolated subdivision here in Laguna. But I'm making my way back to the military."
There was a very short static.
"Are they immune? Have they encountered an infected?"
"Roger that, but one of 'em are attacked but hours have passed she's still okay. Is she considered as immune?"
There was no reply.
"Hello? Colonel? Is it considered to be immune?" He asked again one more time.
There was no response.
I looked at Stef.
She looked sad and scared.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"What if they shoot me? What if some kind of this shoot to kill operation is going to be the reason behind my death? Not some crazy *ss infection?" She blurted out.
"Calm down little girl, you're going to be okay-"
"Good evening, Inspector Fajardo and to his rescued civilians. We are curious to know about what happened to you, and please do tell before you arrive here. We are not sure of what will become of you once you reached this secured area full of thousands of evacuees." a female voice said through the walkie-talkie.
Stef cleared her throat.
"It started when my friend and I decided to go back home here in Laguna...."
