We were quiet for the whole ride.
Inspector Fajardo insisted to call him Travis. He's also in the same age as us.
"So do you guys work?" He asked.
Stef shook her head.
"Just living the best life with guns around." Stef and her father would always practice their accuracy in shooting every weekends. It would be their only time to bond. Her father and her mother aren't in good terms, in the end, Stef decided to live with her own as well, next to me.
"What about your friend here?" Travis asked and looked at me through the rearview mirror.
"I... uh... A carpenter. I also took Architecture in college, but I prefer building my own house." I said.
"She did my house in Pasig too!" Stef blurted out.
"Impressive! It's the first time I've met someone very independent." Travis smirked.
We were quiet the whole ride.
Stef started to yawn and slept a few minutes after.
And then a question came into my mind.
"So... Are there other inspectors like you who were sent to see if a place is completely empty?"
"Hmm? Why?"
"I thought the military would be in charge of this kind of thing that you're doing?"
"Yeah... Well... There had been change of plans... And there still is but... As long as nothing goes wrong. But the captain told me that if we risk troops out in the open, the infected would've soared high in the charts." Travis shrugged.
"I guess the people in power really cares more about their men rather than their own countrymen, hmm?" I chuckled.
Travis sighed.
"Is there a problem?" I asked, he looked quite upset.
"My father."
Then he took a breath.
"He used to be in the military."
"Oh...? What hap-"
"He was sent out earlier and... Sadly... He turned into one of them. That's why I am here. To look for him. But I lost hope when I saw those kinds of creatures. How would I distinguish their looks if they turn into those creatures with long limbs." He lets out a sharp sigh and cleared his throat.
"I'm sorry to hear that, Travis... But one thing is for sure, those long limbs, are special infected... Right?"
He nodded.
"Another can jump for a hundred meters, and another had swole and chunky arms that can flip a car...-"
"Wait... What?!" He hit the brakes.
"We better get to the south port to report this." He added.
"Are there anything else?"
I tried to remember the other one that we've encountered.
I tapped my chin and looked around and saw Stef's arms with healing wounds, then my fingers snapped.
"That thing that looks like a child with hella long nails and super fast!" I said.
Travis immediately grabbed his walkie.
"Hello. This is Inspector Fajardo speaking, my fellow civilians have also encountered special infected, unknown to the MEA. We will be sending this report once we've reached the port. Over." Then started to drive once again.
I am scared to know if there any other kinds of special infected.
And if there are that is still unknown, please do not let us encounter them while we have no knowledge about them, I prayed.
Then there was a loud groan behind us.
We looked around and we saw the same creature earlier, the muscular one.
