Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

After church service was over on Sunday, I walked up to the attic to give the Tome back to Catriona. "Two months! It took me two freaking months to read this behemoth! Haven't y'all thought of turning the Tome into multiple versions? Or maybe an eBook?" I ranted on as I dropped the book with a thud.

Catriona sat down a glass of tea and returned the Tome to its chest as Samuel gave Ezekiel a wad of cash. Ezekiel told me they made a bet on how long it would take me to finish the Tome. "Gee, I feel the love brothers," I said to them as I rolled my eyes, followed by a smirk.

"Kyle, tell me, what have you learned?" Catriona asked as she sat down in one of the few chairs in the room. I stared at her, crossing her arms underneath her bust as I remembered the countless texts changed from their original form to English in my brain.

I closed my eyes, remembering the pages swimming around in my head. "I know that there are four clans. We, the Cameo clan are gargoyles of stealth and camouflage. We were in control of the southern regions of the Old World. There are the berserkers, Valoriket, experts of weapons, and crazed maniacs when they enter battle, and they ruled the North. Next are the clan of illusion makers, the Anyest clan, they ruled the East. And finally, the Elekin, they can bend the elements to their will, they ruled the West." I said, winded from the long sentence.

Ezekiel nodded in approval as he asked the next question. "Do we have any weakness?" I nodded my head as I told them that pulling the tail would send an electric shock of pain throughout the body, thus paralyzing us and making us frozen in flight, I also said to them magic damages us and like any other supernatural creature, iron. Catriona noticed me with a thoughtful look on my face.

"Out with it!" She ordered, making me flinch. Upon realizing this, she apologized, "Sorry, lad. I don't like people keeping things from me, especially from my clan."

I nodded my head to her as I collected my breath. "Why not stop the fighting? What are we even fighting for, anyway?" I asked them as they looked at each other.

"Vampires, mate. We are fighting the bloodsuckers of old." Samuel said with a distant look in his deep green eyes as a shiver went down his spine. I looked at the men as Ezekiel comforted his brother.

I looked at Catriona, hoping she would have an answer for whatever it was Samuel was experiencing. "We are small, but we haven't always been this way. Once, there were hundreds of us, flying under the velvet sky as the moon illuminated our way…" Her dark green eyes looked glazed as she smiled, remembering the glory days. "But, they ambushed us. We flew outside our territory to aid me sisters coven, they were trying to kill them to prevent more of us from rising." She said, rubbing her arms as if she was trying to forget the horrific times as I nodded my head in understanding.

"Everyone must stay with your group and come back to the bus at 1:15, so we can return to the school at 3:00." Mr. Vough said as we all walked out of the bus and into the enormous parking lot. They put together me with a friend who was meeting her parents beyond the entrance. When we passed the metal detector, I saw some adults waiting by the fountain, believing they were the parents of the classmates I trailed behind, observing the surrounding area. I noticed that Amelia, the classmate I was with, ushered me over to her parents. I said hello and told them my name. It was then that I noticed the mother smirking at her daughter and her father staring me down.

"So, this is the Kyle that you like?" The mother asked as I glanced at Amelia's scarlet cheeks. Someone in a Lex Luthor costume was doing an evil chuckle as he approached us. As we walked away, I told him that the Justice League would get him, causing him to scream into the sky.

Our tiny group then walked off to do some rides, with her parents acting as chaperons. With her never being here, I thought about a smooth, uncomplicated machine. We walked past a few employees trying to get us from playing their rigged games.

When we found a ride with Wildly Coyote on the front and back, I knew we saw a simple machine. Since there was no line, we took a seat on the rollercoaster, followed by a few other students that went to the school. As the protective handles came down, a girl exclaimed that it pushed her boobs out of her bra. That brought a few smiling faces to the guys on the ride as they chuckled until the second piece of metal came down. Causing most of the guys to groan in discomfort.

As the machine started, Amelia closed her eyes, afraid of the unknown. When it went forward, a few screamed. I didn't begin joyfully yelling until the ride suspended us in the air for a few seconds before swinging forward.

When it was over, Amelia ended up pulling me to almost all the roller coasters. But thankfully, we had a break at one of the many eateries, which served as a shelter from the drizzle for lunch. Her parents met up with us after we sat down, drinking some coke-a-cola, with the water droplets getting lighter as they touched the ground.

"Please watch your step and do not forget your belongings after you exit the ride." The employee said, sounding like he wanted to be anywhere other than here. When the riders of the Batman rollercoaster removed itself from the machine, it was our turn on the rollercoaster.
