Chapter 11 - Chapter 10

The next morning after waking up I went to Nancy's delivering the unpleasant news to her before grabbing a bite to eat. After getting my dark blue hoodie from the hanger, I made my way to Nancy's house. I performed a cleansing breath to calm myself and hoped that she wouldn't react unpleasantly as I knocked on the cherry oak door.

The door opened, revealing a lady with light brown hair with streaks of gray in it. She wore a mustard yellow shirt with dark blue ripped jeans. "Kyle, come in. Nancy and I were about to eat breakfast. Would you care to join us?"

"If you don't mind me intruding, then sure. I need to talk to your daughter about something important." She moved to the side as I stepped into the living room. The walls had baby blue paint and had two pictures of mother and daughter, or of the late father on every wall. I smiled at the family frozen in time and made my way to the kitchen.

Upon entering, Nancy sat at the island with a plate of eggs and tofu bacon. After chewing, she looked up from her phone and smiled warmly at me. "What brings you here?"

I took a small throw away plate from the cabinet as I piled on the eggs and biscuits and gravy. "I need to talk to you after breakfast, in private," Nancy raised an eyebrow as my stomach begged for food. "And also to get the beast fed."

The mother and daughter giggled at the rumbling of my stomach as I stood, holding the plate with one hand so that the mother could sit down. Cutting the eggs, I fed the bottomless pit that was my stomach. After breakfast, I made use of the bathroom.

After I took care of business, I followed Nancy to her room. Once inside, I saw her sitting on a dark blue cushioned chair from her desk where she would do her homework. "What do we need to talk about?"

After looking around the room lit with natural light, my eyes followed the Black Veil Brides and Five Finger Death Punch posters hanging on her light pink walls. I slid against the wall near the door and put my finger to my lips and pointed with my thumb to the door. The girl nodded her head and spoke in Gaelic as her hands glowed with gold light, after finishing, the sounds of the city fell silent.

"I'll get right to it, your coven is dead. As far as I know, Zena is the only survivor. I'm sorry for your loss." I looked at her face as she stood there, like one of the broken golems that stood guard. We watched each other until she spoke.

"What, what are you saying? How did they even find it? It should be impossible!?" Her stuttering soon turned into rage. She stood from her chair as she yelled at me.

"I was only told of this until after they attacked your group. My Queen and the leader of the Anyest clan told me personally, hell they even attacked our priest!" My voice roared with anger as I met her, face to face. My eyes met her hands as they glowed once more.

Tears ran down her brown eyes as her voice dropped to a whisper. "… please. Leave!" She screamed as she swung her fist at me.

On instinct, the magic within the amulet hardened my skin to the area of impact. However, with the magic-infused with her punch, my toughened skin did nothing as her blow connected with my solar plexus, sending me flying into the wall where I stood.

Gasping for breath like a fish, I slowly stood up. "If you want me to leave, I'll leave. But you're not the only one who's out for revenge. Catriona lost the last of her mortal family last night. If you follow the path of avenge or revenge for your leader; you'll know where to find us." I said to her as I walked past her to get to the fire escape.

Touching the metal of the window, I stayed there thinking about how I acted just now. "I'm sorry for not getting there in time, I truly am." With that being said, I closed the window and jumped from the fourth story.
