Chapter 16 - Chapter 15

Panting reached my ears as a bright light blinded me. My stomach felt numb and tender as I tried to raise my body from the icy floor, but a hand stopped me. Ezekiel slowly pushed me back to the ground. I turned my head and saw Nancy with sweat on her forehead, and my mother crying as Zena tried her best to comfort her.

"What happened? I remember that guy screaming, a wound on my stomach, and the taste of metal on my tongue."

Ezekial kneeled towards me. "Your mum, lad. She offered some of her life force. Nancy then healed you by combining some of her life force with your mums to save you from bleeding out."

I looked at my mother, as she saw me staring at her, she came running to me. "Kyle! What in God's name is going on?!" Her puffy eyes traveled to the blood-stained shirt with an ugly scar on my stomach.

"Careful what you say, mom. We're in God's house. As for my health, I am fine. Sore, but good. Did you truly give some of your life for me?"

"I don't know what's going on but if you're asking me if I saved my son's life by transferring some of mine to you, then yes I did." She told me as she wiped her eyes as she hugged me, careful to avoid the healed wound. I looked over and saw Nancy resting against a pew as Samuel removed the sweat.

I looked at the others as Catriona came from outside the church. "Did you two see anything?" Samuel asked as our leader shook her head.

"Nay, that guy was the only one who came into our territory. How are you feeling, lad?" The Queen asked as my mother picked herself from the floor. I gave a thumb up to the Englishman.

"Your son will be okay. Just give him some painkillers for the soreness. I believe he didn't tell you about us because he wanted you to be oblivious of this world of ours."

"I want my mother to forget this ever happened. Sorry, mom, but I don't want you dragged into this. I chose this path, mostly out of boredom." I looked at the wooden floor, sheepishly.

Samuel cleared his throat as he sat down at a few of the many pews. "We have a war to win, and I do not want to lose any more wonderful people." He said with sorrow deep in his voice, rolling a ring on his left finger that I failed to notice before.

"Thankfully, we'll have the rest of the three clans with us. Even with our numbers rising because of them, it still may not be enough. I thought vampires couldn't enter holy ground. How did it enter the church?" Nancy told us as she cautiously stood up.

"Lass, that was a blood servant turned fledgling. A blood servant is someone who subconsciously gives their blood to vampires to feed. I felt blood magic on that human's soul, likely used to have his mind-controlled in the feeding process. It is the feeder's choice to turn them into vampires. Now we rest, and then we take the battle to them! With the death of their leaders, they will have no choice but to end their long reign of chaos!" Catriona roared ferociously, fueling a surge of adrenaline in our veins as the building shook.

Walking out of the elevator and to the edge of the bank's roof, I turned to face my clan. The two brothers were sitting on the rooftop of the elevator, while the girls stayed in the shadows. "Witches and Gargoyles, let us take flight," I smiled as I fell off the building and felt the magic pour over me as my wings grew out as I soared upward "to war!"
