After the adults controlled the lockdown, we left to go home. I walked to the church with a bag of takeout. "Hey, Kyle!" A voice called out as I turned and found a friend jogging towards me.
"Nancy, how are you doing?" I said, hugging my brunette-haired friend.
"I'm good. I heard that the gunman came into your classroom. So, I should ask you if you're all right?" She asked, looking me over as I saw her arms crossed over her.
I smiled and nodded my head as she noticed the bag of food. "It's for some friends, I'm meeting them at the old church," I told her as she looked at the bag. "You can come too, I'll split my burger and fries," I said as both of our stomachs rumbled as we raced to the church.
Since the night I changed, I had gotten faster, so I used that to my advantage. But I was careful not to spill the food and drinks trying to win. Nancy won and closed the heavy oak door as I was climbing up the stairs.
Slightly panting, I opened the door with my free arm and slide my body against it, returning it to its place. "Hi, Father Romero…" I looked around for my friend and my clanmates. "Where are they?"
"They are in the kitchen, your friend is in the restroom." He told me, lying pamphlets in the slots behind the church seats. I found them in the kitchen.
"Got some lunch, I also took down some crazed man at my school today. Which is why I'm here early." I said, bringing the doggie bag on the table as Nancy followed me. Ezekiel came to the table and distributed the food as Catriona noticed Nancy behind me.
"This lad wouldn't happen to be the one that the bobby arrested over at the school screaming about demons, would he?" She asked, sighing before tossing a French-fry into her mouth. "We'll take care of it, lad. Nancy of the Blue Moon coven, will you be joining us lass?"
As Ezekiel handed me a burger to me, I looked at my friend questionably. She found interest in the dishes that Samuel was washing with a green dishrag. "Nancy, please tell me you didn't…" I asked, turning my head to my burger as I felt my cheeks gaining heat. I took a bite and focused on the flavors in my mouth.
"I am a Witch, the same one that helped our leader turn you into a Gargoyle, and yes I saw you naked, but I was behind you, so I didn't see it. But I saw your rear." She giggled, stealing a few of my fries. When Samuel finished drying the dishes, he went to the attic and returned a trunk as full as his muscular chest, etched with what appeared to be runes.
After swallowing some of my burgers, I looked at the object curiously. Catriona then placed it on the table by the food and turned one of her hands into stone and spoke a cryptic tongue as her eyes glistened like sapphire. The runes then gleamed with acceptance as the chest opened.
"Be sure to read this. All of it." She reached into the chest and removed a massive tome. My eyes grew as I saw how thick it was when she placed it on the table.
"What… What is that!? That's the biggest book I've ever seen!" I exclaimed, looking at it once again. The brothers laughed as they saw my reaction.
"It's called a Tome, we have loads of them that contain a multitude of spells at our headquarters," Nancy said, scooping a fry into the sauces of the burger as she bit into it. She then stared at the red velvet chest decorated with some gold medal with dark brown wood. She then returned to munching on my fries, still looking at the chest.
I walked around the table. The spine looked to be 5 inches thick; I studied at the cover and noticed that the Tome was in brown leather with a sapphire in the middle with a title in arcane letters circling the top half of the stone. "To answer your question from earlier Catriona, yes it was the man screaming about demons. But it was just me in my other form, and what did you mean by handling it."
"Erasing the memory of the event; but, since the lad think it was a wee demon, I'd say we don't have to worry about being exposed."
I nodded my head at her and ran my fingers over the foreign letters as the words became clear as day in my mind. 'Cameo Codex.' "Is this a giant history book?" I asked as the three members grinned.
Samuel finished swallowing some of his burger as he cleared his throat. "That book will also tell you the anatomy of gargoyles. Not just our clan, but the others clans too." He told me, chewing the rest of his double meat burger.
