I woke up to the sound of people talking downstairs. I looked out the window, surprised to see that the sun had yet to rise. Swiftly I jumped out of my bed and walked towards the closet to put on some clothes.
Then I walked to the door leading to the stairs. And when I opened it my sensitive ears were once again tormented by the sound of the door opening.
I quickly walked through the hallway and down the stairs.
Upon entering the living room, I stumbled on the group packing the stuff they had left trough the mansion.
"Are you leaving?"
Alex looked up and answered with a smile on his face.
"Yes, were heading to the stone city."
Now that I taught about it, it made sense. Allenya had told me that they were heading to the stone city before they stranded here. Now that Yohan is able to travel again there most likely to continue the journey.
"Is it okay if I come with you?"
I had no were else to go and I had no idea what I would do if I ended up alone. Maybe I would eventually give up due to loneliness and go on a killing spree.
("With my appearance and lack of control of myself it would be hard to join other people. No matter what, I have to stick with them.")
Everyone looked at Yohan now. This skinny and pale man who missed some toes and fingers, may be the weakest, but he was the oldest. And they all admired his experience and leadership.
Then Allenya spoke.
"That may not me such a bad idea. I mean he helped us get Yohan back even without a deal. Plus, he never attacked us. I believe he can be of great use when traveling for so long."
Get screamed upon hearing her reaction. "Did you forget why we were going to the stone city to begin with? Of course, we can't bring a demon!"
Yohan didn't give a reaction is gaze never left me for as long as I stood in the room.
("So, it's not just about the fact that they don't trust me. It also has something to do with their destination.")
"Why can't come with you to the stone city?"
Alex looked at me, surprised by my question.
"You don't know?"
I shook my head.
"It was two years ago when the attacks begun. Large troops of monsters and people who are now labelled criminals, attacked. No one had an idea where they came from, nor their motive. All they did was intrude villages and massacre everyone in sight. Many theorised that it was demons that sent them. And the stone city is a place hidden and big enough to shelter and secure thousands of people."
Allenya spoke. Her face was slightly turned red and she stared at the ground. Alex nodded in agreement to what she said.
"Is that why Yerald wanted to study me? I mean if demons really were behind those attacks it would only be beneficial when you know about your opponent's strengths and weaknesses."
Gert looked at me with a suspicious glare.
"you said if demons really were behind those attacks. Are you not sure yourself, or do you not want to betray your own kind?"
("Maybe he realised that I'm tot that strong yet. Or maybe he is not as afraid of me anymore since I'm basically always around them, but Gert has been more aggressive towards me lately.")
"I'm not sure myself. During that time, I was locked up in some place until you summoned me. However, I know that it was because of another demon that I was locked up, so I would not mind joining your side."
I crossed my arms and straightened my posture.
("If a place like the stone city really exist. Then there is a high chance that the people who had been prepared to fight against demons have more knowledge about them. Maybe enough to reverse my situation.")
"there is no way a demon would do that!"
Jelled Gert as he grabbed the handle of his sword. Elisa gasped and backed away from us. Allenya quickly dashed to the weakened Yohan to stand in between us. Alex did the same.
I couldn't blame them if it was for any other demon, they would all already have been massacred.
"Do you really think that you can beat me?" I laughed at Gert.
"you see, I even without weapons am way stronger than you. I can rip your head off so a fountain of blood will taint this walls red. I can rip out your spine and use your ribs as replacement for the libs I can tear off. You can't even buy time for them. Plus, I already know their cent. So, if they were to go to the stone city, I will find it anyway."
Gert's eyes grew for a split second wide enough for me to see that they were brown. But it was only for a split second as his gaze darkened again with pure bloodlust.
It reminded me of the feeling the silver monster gave me in the castle, right before he carved that symbol in my chest.
I grinned wide so he could have a good look at my inhuman teeth.
"But if I can come with you, I can help you reach your destination safely and eventually help the people in the stone city. Wouldn't that be more convenient than risk having one of you kept hostage at your next stop?"
Gert sighed, trying to hide the fear he showed. It was only for merely an instant, but I noticed it.
"Fine you can come along. However, I want to make a deal."
I stared at him, curious about the deal.
"You can stay with us until you show any signs of ill intentions or betrayal. If zo you will have to leave immediately."
He stretched out his and. I shook it while staring deep in his eyes.
"I'm glad we could come to an agreement."
The making of the deal gave of the same sensation as the last time.
I walked out of the room to get the few clothes that would actually fit me and some containers in case I found some souls that I didn't want to eat immediately.
