I put on the dress and started walking towards the noise. I saw that it was a crowded city, and when I stepped in, I looked back but it seemed like I was sucked into a different world. "W-what is this place?" I muttered to myself while walking in a sea of people. It was crowded and I saw something in the distance. It was something burning. I ran to see what it was and was horrified when I saw it. Someone was tied to a burning stick and screaming. It was appalling. There were executioners. They were keeping the fire alive, while the crowds were throwing rocks at the burning person. The person was screaming weakly, but after a bit of time, he stopped.
I was shocked. It was terrible, and people were laughing. I started to walk away but I was stopped by a tall man with a black robe encrusted with gold. "Where are your parents, child?" The man said while kneeling to my height, and putting his hand on my shoulder. This was when I realized that I was much younger, I still looked like me but I was a little girl. "I-I don't know, I'm s-sorry," I stuttered, genuinely freaked out by this person's demeanor. He was smiling a bit too wide, and he had something in the pocket of his robe. Not to mention I couldn't see his face because the hood of his robe was covering it. "Oh? did you lose sight of them? That's alright, let me get you to a temple, they'll know what to do." The tall man said as he took my hand in his and led me to an alley with a covering over it.
I was super creeped out and ready to just get out of that alley and away from that man. "U-Um, where are we?" I said, shakily. "Oh, there was a weather report that it was gonna rain, so I brought us here." the man said as he gestured to the covered entrance, where you could hear the rain on it. The entrance and exit were plastic, but the covering was stone. He reached into his robe a took out a knife. It had carvings that were similar to those of the mask on the Nightmare Man. "Come here. I... need to do something." The man said while shuffling towards me. He pulled off his hood and there was a light near me, so I saw him better. He had black, messy hair, and peculiar red eyes. He was breathing heavily and lifted his knife, but he couldn't land a hit because I dodged his knife right before he could plunge it into my chest.
"... W-What?" He said in disbelief. I knew he was faster because his walking pace is probably my running pace because of the height difference. I was cornered. I got up and started walking slowly towards the exit. I also knew that I had better reflexes and I was more agile, so if there were obstacles, maybe I'd have a chance. "Where do you think you're slipping out to, Narnia?" He said, mockingly. "Anyway, I know that you're trying to weasel your way out into the streets because you know you can run there. Well, that's too bad, because you aren't going anywhere." The man said as he proceeds to stand up, and stalk me like you do game. I was petrified with fear, and he could sense it. "You know, you're a pretty little thing. Too bad, if I didn't have to do this, I'd probably adopt you or somethin'." He said, smiling.
"Why? Why do this?" I said, moving with shakey, jagged steps, ready to make a run for it. "Well, for one thing, you don't belong here, do you?" The man said as he reached and grabbed my wrist, turning it over and revealing a marking. "I knew I saw something." He said as he reveals that he has the same markings. "My name is Kimera, nice to meet ya. I know it's a weird name, but it could be proof that I'm not from here." He said with a sparkle in his eyes. "T-This place seems more familiar..." I mutter to myself. "Oh? So you not from here, judging by what you said." Kimera said as he shuffled
towards me. He put his hands on my shoulders and gripped them tightly. "We... we must be linked in some way, you and me. I mean, we have the same markings and we both feel like we're not from here. Don't you agree?" Kimera said, still gripping my shoulders. "Y-Yeah, I guess. Why did you try to kill me?" I said, uncomfortable because I was super close to a man I didn't know, and I was a little girl. "C-Can I do something?" Kimera said, pulling me closer and avoiding the question. "W-What is it?" I said, squirming a little because we were too close for comfort. "I just wanna see what happens if we do this," Kimera says as he touches the marking on his wrist with the ones on mine.
"What?!" We both exclaimed as the markings and Kimera started glowing, getting brighter by the second. Then, Kimera disappeared with no trace besides his knife. "W-What? Why did he just vanish?" I said, picking up the knife. I picked up the knife, stuffing it in my pocket, and left the enclosure. It wasn't raining anymore. "What? What happened child?" A man dressed in a suit approached me. I showed him the knife. "WHAT?! WHERE DID YOU GET THIS?!?!" The man screamed while grabbing my shoulders and shaking me. "Do you know what this means child?" He said wearily as he let go of me. I shook my head. "This means that the last reincarnation of Batemut, God of Illusions and Good Fortune, has died without having any offspring." The man was visibly upset and he said, "Just go. I'll keep the knife and make a great memorial for Batemut. Goodbye." I said goodbye and started walking. Then I stopped because everything was getting blurry. I passed out. "H-Hey! I couldn't get your name back there. What is it?" I heard a voice that sounded like Kimera's.
"W-What?" I said, still a bit flustered. "I'm Kimera, remember?" Kimera said. "Yeah, I remember," I said, getting up and noticing that I was myself again. "Great. Goodness, you look different! So you aren't from this world!" Kimera said, revealing himself. "I-I can try to get you out," I said. "It's fine, I kinda like it here," Kimera said, blushing slightly. "Well... You're a God so you can probably just give a bit of your essence. "No, I already pledged that I'd stay, sorry!" He said. "I'll give you... a twelfth of my power to give to someone." Kimera said with a smile. "Thank you so much!" I said, hugging him while he blushes. "Thank you for not running away, goodbye." He said as I got teleported to a big empty room, and the nightmare man was about to kill me with a black knife, the same one he had. I dodged, but his knife grazed my back.
I got up quickly and he started to talk.
"Wow, you escaped my knife, good job.
It appears that you still haven't flawed.
You still are excellent when you dodge.
But, allow this coffin to be your lodge."
"W-Why? What did I do?" I said, confused. "You left me, Melody. You barely ever came to visit, and when you did, it was a short while, and you didn't even recognize me!" The Nightmare Man
said, advancing towards me. "I-I'm sorry! I didn't remember, and I'm sorry!" I said, tears in my eyes. "Why did you want my power." The Nightmare Man said. "Because there are spirits who need your power for their physical form. And, because they threatened to kill me if I didn't comply." I said, looking away in shame while tears stream down my face. I then heard footsteps coming towards me a felt a hug. I heard a mask fall to the ground and Kimera's voice. "I-I'll go into the souls' essence, but they'll be cursed to live here while I'm the only one in physical form. I'll do it, so don't cry." Then, he faded away and I was back in the safe room.
"HARMONY! Wake up, please!" said Tommy, leaning over me. "W-What?" I said while sitting up and opening my eyes. "HARMONY!" Tommy screamed, leaping at me and giving me a big hug. "I-I thought I lost you!" Tommy said, his voice shaking a bit as starts to cry. "It's fine, I'm here now. Anyways, spirits, where are you?" I say. "Here." The spirits say, revealing themselves. "... I'm sorry, but I have to now." I said. "We know, but we have each other since there's like 1000 of us." The spirits say. I slowly reach my hand into the center of the soul clump and, to be honest, it was really painful. I screamed, but I didn't let go because it was working. After some time I let go, and I felt so drained, I collapsed on the ground. Though, it did work, because I saw lots of light in a human form. "Hey, what's up." Kimera said, in the flesh, right in front of us.
