Trigger Warning: Death
Point of View (Leah)
We finally got outside to fresh air. Well, Mordecai did, I couldn't move for some reason and it was kind of... hurting? "That was so weird, I felt like I was suffocating. Something's going on..." Mordecai said, looking around. He didn't see Jenna, Azariah, or me struggling to crawl out the door. Then he realized that we weren't next to him, he turned around and gasped, "What the heck?!" He tugged on my hands first since I was closer. I got out and struggled to catch my breath as Mordecai started grabbing Jenna out. Then I grabbed Azariah and quickly dragged her out. Then I had to help Mordecai get Jenna out.
"That was horrible!" Azariah barely got out, gasping for air, "What was that?!"
"What a sick joke!" Jenna got out, using Mordecai as support.
Azariah collapsed on the ground, saying, "More importantly, who did that?!"
Mordecai shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know. Maybe someone's trying to get your attention."
"But who would do it like that? It can't be The big man, right? But he's the only one who can do that," I asked, trying to think of who would do that.
"Should we just keep walking? Maybe they'll just try again," Azariah suggested, shrugging her shoulders.
"And risk dying? I don't think so," Jenna replied, shaking her head.
"But if they're trying to get our attention, why would they want us dead?" I asked.
Jenna got this dramatic look on her face, "It's the beginning of a horror movie and the phone rings. By the end of the movie, she's dead. Gasp! You wanna know why? Mordecai, go."
"She answered the phone!" Mordecai exclaimed, putting his hands on his cheeks.
She shook her head, facepalming, "NO, we've been over this a million times. The murderer got their attention! They had to!"
"OH ya! You did tell me that, didn't you?" he asked.
"Ugh, you are just so useless sometimes, Mordecai!"
"Oh, um, we also can't die in heaven. Just thought I'd point that out," I said, smiling.
"I didn't know that... Wait, but we felt pain just a little bit ago. That's messed up. Whatever, let's go," Jenna said, starting to walk away. We all followed Jenna, linking arms.
Mordecai smiled, looking at Jenna, "It's so cute when you..." He paused, looking confused.
"It's gonna be pretty weird if you don't finish that sentence, Mordecai, just saying."
"Smile! It's so cute when you smile! Sorry, I forgot the word."
"Ya... sure, anyway, wh- Mordecai?!" Jenna asked, helping Mordecai stay up as he bent down towards the ground, He put his hands on his ears. All of a sudden, we were in a whole different place completely. And, Mordecai was gone. "Where's Mordecai?"
"I don't know... but this isn't heaven, I don't think," I said, looking around.
Then Jenna looked around, too, "Wait... I know this place, no way."
"Where are we?" Azariah asked, looking around at the countless trees and the bridge just a couple yards away.
"We're in The Dark Heart Realm and our only guide is gone! Oh, Mordecai, how could you?!" Jenna said, collapsing on the ground.
I smiled really wide, helping her back up, "He's not the only one we know from here!'
"Oh ya, Shadrack," Azariah answered, nodding her head, "So, how do we find him?"
"You don't," we heard a loud voice call out, "He finds you."
"Ah, scary!" I yelped, falling down and curling up into a ball.
"You're Shadrack, right?" Azariah asked, walking over to me. She put her hand over my mouth and then replied, "Oh ya, she's breathing. What's with the colorful splotches? It seems kind of out of character." I slowly opened one eye and I could barely see this splotch of rainbow on his suit. It was all ripped up so that he didn't have sleeves anymore. Kind of like he changed them into shorts and a tank top.
"WHAT?!" he yelled, trying to rub the color off. I laughed to myself, "What are you laughing at, you weird ostrich?"
"I'm sorry," I responded, breaking down and laughing even more, "You're just kind of funny. Sorry, it's nice to meet you, uncle Shadrack." I held out my arm, holding it up as much as I could.
"What the heck? Don't randomly insert me into your family, already! Come on, get up, Leah."
I slowly nodded, getting up, "Hi. We're actually here for something. Someone's been trying to get ahold of us."
"And they sent you here? That must mean it's either one of the dark hearts or the devil himself... literally," Shadrack said, thinking out loud to himself.
"I doubt it's any of the dark hearts. We aren't dark heart guardians, so they can't affect us. And, they got our attention by... taking away our air? We could barely breath, so, I hate to say this, but I think it's the devil," Jenna explained all in one breath.
"There's a devil?!" Azariah exclaimed, freaking out.
"Ya, just hurry up and find him. Unlike all of us, he doesn't need to even see you to kill you for good. It was nice to meet you, Leah, but you need to hurry, I don't wanna be the one to tell your mom that you're dead," Shadrack resolved, jumping onto another tree.
"That was pretty awkward," I mentioned, walking off.
Point of View Change (Shadrack)
I heard Leah say, "That was pretty awkward," as they left since I could hear half of everything that happened in The Dark Heart Realm. I could hear the rustle of the trees on the edge of the seven deadly sins forest from my spot near the clearing by the bridge. This was my domain. I was only disappointed that I had to live so close to the one guardian losers. At least the four horsemen had the decency to kill them over and over again in each and every life instead. I felt a little sad, though. That didn't go as planned. "I'm so excited he's my uncle, though! I mean, he's so freaking cool! I can't believe it!" I smiled, at lease she liked me enough to say I was cool. What a good last meeting, so... fitting.
"You're really this soft, love?" a voice asked behind me. I clenched my fists, biting my tongue.
Point of View Change (Azariah)
"I can't wait until Shadrack is reborn!" I exclaimed, smiling.
Jenna nodded, "I hope he's reborn as a baby. That would be so funny!" Then Jenna frowned, "I miss Mordecai. If he was here, this place wouldn't look as scary. Or dark."
"Ya, I miss Alexa. I know she isn't even in heaven, but talking about people we like has been making me think about her," Leah said, looking at the ground.
"W-what?! No, no way. Nuh-uh," Jenna said, waving her arms around. I laughed.
"We just have to work through it, even though we don't want to. Especially since we don't want to," Leah explained, smiling slightly.
Then we heard a voice from behind us, "I don't think I've ever been able to not relate to something so much. It's so... sickening. Free expression, love, and even hate disgust me. Who is it, you're wondering? It's me... your worstest nightmare."
Point of View Change (king of heck)
Ah yes, it's her. The other two girls that were head over heels won't do. Andreas would be the only one for me. She was stubborn, but that is why she's my soulmate. At the end of the day, my subjects will be proud of me. The angel that lives forever as my queen.
Point of View Change (Azariah)
My bones shuddered as the words echoed through my head. I couldn't stop hearing what the voice said. We all turned around and we saw a lamppost, but really tall. A man stood on top of it with a smug look on his face that I could barely see. I had to be strong for my friends, though. I knew what would happen if he got ahold of my friends. They'd die, but I couldn't let that happen. "I know now that if I hurt any on you, I'll die. So, I'm gonna just make everyone understand that if one of us dies, we all die. So, let's just be civil about this, ok? I need your help." He jumped down from the pole and stood right in front of me.
I looked at him with pure disgust, "What do you want?"
"I'm not here for that, I'm here because heck needs you. I'd contact my father, but we're not exactly on good terms," he replied, rolling his eyes.
"If you're against The big man, why would we help you? I thought you were the enemy."
"This involves you and everyone on Earth. I declare a temporary truce. It's in your best interest to help me."
Jenna spoke up, clenching her fists, "Talk to us, then. Tell us what you want before I majorly freak out! I'm scared, tired, bored, and ultra mad."
"I thought we agreed to stay civil. Who is this?" he asked, waving his hands towards Jenna.
"My name is JENNA! I'm guessing you're the dumb dumb who failed at keeping the darkness locked up, You're a disgusting human being," she responded, sneering.
"I'm not a human, I'm not the one at fault, I didn't make him, I have no link to The Dark Heart Realm, and I'm not a dumb dumb!"
I rolled my eyes, "I've never wanted someone to die this much. Can you just show us why we're here?"
"Ya, ya, I'll just tell you already. There's a black hole at the bottom of heck. My people keep sacrificing themselves to it, claiming it's their queen. This is what I get for being utterly single. Anyway, they just come back to heck when they jump in, but it probably means that they die when they go in. It might be cool to see an undead angel, though. But, I can't have that happening yet," he explained, talking to himself for the most part.
"Wait, how is this my problem?" I asked, putting my hands on my hips.
"Once it swallows up heck, it's not gonna stop. It'll destroy all four spherical planes, and possibly, the universe. You need this thing gone and I'm giving you permission to take care of it," he said, snapping his fingers. A staircase appeared as he said, "Behold, the stairs to heck." After a while of walking down the very long staircase, he said, "There's actually a reason why I chose you three. I didn't take Mordecai because he doesn't really like me, but I took you three because Azariah is destined to be the next queen of heck. Kind of like Persophone and Hade situation except Destiny and Fate are heavily involved."
"I severely doubt that. I'm happily single and that's not gonna change," I responded.
"Well, I hate to break it to you, but you killed the former queen. In a different lifetime, but still... the rule of Fate states the 'the person who kills the queen is now the new queen.' It's a pretty sexist document, but it works."
"That's not happening. And, I'm pretty sure I'd remember killing the queen of heck."
"But you did. Wait, Shadrack, how are you in here?!" he asked, turning around on the stairs. We all slowly turned around to see Shadrack bent down on the steps.
I leaned towards the king of heck, "If you hurt him, you die. Let's be civil."
He turned back to Shadrack again and calmly asked, "Why'd you follow us here?"
"I followed you so I could make sure you wouldn't hurt them. Zadkiel would be really mad if I let them die," Shadrack replied quietly.
"That's pathetic. Honestly, I never thought of you, of all people, would fall for the non-binary gay angel. How about we all predict how fast Shadrack's gonna rebirth or whatever," he mocked, laughing.
"I mostly did it because that dumb red-head can get so annoying when they're mad," Shadrack said, glaring at the stairs. I smiled on the inside, knowing he wasn't telling the truth.
"Whatever," the king of heck said, "Let's just keep going. He has to come with. So, how's Tarzan doing?'
"Who's Tarzan?" Leah asked, really confused. I realized he probably meant Shadrack.
"You're so undeniably dense, sometimes. That's you, Shadrack, you're Tarzan!"
"I don't like this. You're not very nice," Shadrack growled.
"Wow, so harsh. I know you don't like a lot of people in one place at a time, but you need to chill. It's fine. I may be the king of heck, but I still have a heart," the king of heck said, grinning. When we got to the end of the staircase, he said, "We're here! MAKE WAY, SUBJECTS!" He laughed, "The man upstairs... might have parted the red sea, but I part this sea every single day. Now tell me which one is cooler." We walked into this separate, smaller, room. There were two thrones and a black hole in the far right corner.
"So... what are we supposed to do about this?" I asked, pointing to the corner.
"You know," the king of heck said, "I'm starting to think that you've never dealt with a black hole before... Ya, I don't know what to do about it, either! Honestly, who the heck even knows what that is?! NO ONE. I was kind of hoping you'd ask dear old dad for me!"
"Hey, Big man, if you're listening, please come," Leah said, looking up.
The king of heck laughed, "He can't come down here. It isn't his domain. Then there was a loud boom and we all appeared in heaven a second later.
"Wait, shouldn't we help them, though?" I asked, "There's a big black hole sucking everything up down there."
"Not right now, it's unstable. You'd only be hurting yourselves."
Point of View Change (Shadrack)
All of a sudden, they were all gonna and the king of heck chuckled, "I guess I know how it feels like to be left, too, now. Or maybe that's just old news. Whatever just leave the way you came."
"Sir..." I responded, "You're quite pathetic." I slightly winced as he plunged the sword through my chest. I stared at the ceiling with a blank expression as the blood drained from my body.
