It's their break time so Gray and his classmates decided to play soccer in the field. It was going well until one his classmate accidentally kicks the ball far away.
"It's okay, I'll get it!" Gray said and ran towards the ball until it stopped at the old gym equipment storage where he saw Lucas quietly eating while sitting on the grass.
He thought Lucas would pick up the ball and give it to him so he didn't do anything but to his surprise, he stand up and walked away, as if he saw nothing.
"Hey!" He shouted but Lucas just ignored him. He could not hold on to his anger for too long so he throw the ball at him. It landed straight to his shoulder that made him stopped from walking.
"What is wrong with you? Didn't you hear me calling you? Are you deaf?" He shouted and rudely turned him around.
"My name's n-not...hey..." He answered, his voice evident of pain. He then noticed that he must be really in pain so he quickly removed his hand.
"Are you-" Lucas quickly turned around before he could even finish his sentence. Gray just stared at him in confusion.
'What is wrong with him?'
Bothered by the incident, Gray decided to go to the infirmary to ask for a bandage and ointment. He really didn't mean to throw him the ball, he just got blinded by the anger. Well in his defense, he ignored him so he had a reason to get mad. But he seemed like he's really hurt so that made him feel guilty too.
He entered the classroom and spotted him reading a book. He approached him and put the bandage and the ointment on his desk.
"I'm sorry for what I did earlier. I just got mad. It must've hurt so put an ointment to it."
"I don't need it." He answered coldly and remove the things on the book. That made Gray mad again but this time, he tried to control himself. He can't get mad, he is at fault here. He grabbed the bandage and ointment and rudely put it on his hand.
"Accept it while i'm being nice." He said through gritted teeth and turned around. He then saw Castle looking at him with confusion written all over his face.
"What's going on? What did you two talked about?"
"Nothing." Gray answered grumpily. Castle didn't bother asking anymore questions.
When he looked at him again, he's still busy reading a book, like nothing happened.
'He's really weird.'
-
"Gray! Let's go home!" Castle said when their last subject ended.
"Wait, I forgot my book at the classroom."
"What? You should've checked it earlier!"
"I know, i'll be quick, so wait for me!"
"Okay!" Castle dismissed him so he ran back to their classroom and got surprised when he saw Lucas still seating on his chair. He saw a hint of surprise on his face too but it quickly turned back into his usual, stern look.
He really didn't want to bother him anymore so he quietly went to his chair and grabbed the book. But curiosity seemed to be getting at him and before he could stop himself, he already asked a question.
"Is your shoulder okay now?" And as usual, he ignored him again. "Was it that hard to answer a simple question?" He added, with a hint of irritation in his voice. "Are you even listening to me?"
Lucas grabbed his bag and went to the other door. "You're really rude, aren't you?" Gray said, grabbing him by his arm.
"I think you should take that a sign that the other person doesn't want to talk to you."
"What?!"
"Leave me alone." He removed his hand on his arm and walked away. Gray was left staring at the door. That guy was really unbelievable. He's never encountered someone that aloof before. It's like he completely shut off his world to others.
But that only made Gray more interested to Lucas. To him, he was like a closed book that he was so curious to read.
"Lucas, who are you?" He whispered under his breath.
"Gray! What took you so long?" Castle suddenly appeared, frowning.
"Let's go." He said and walked towards him. "I have to look for something so i took long. Sorry." Castle just sighed.
