One week later
The air was heavy, the atmosphere tense and the only sound to be heard was the heavy rain falling down. The clan was having a meeting around a campfire, it had been silent for a minute now before one of the clan members spoke up
"CAPTAIN?! you cant!"
The captain chuckled while looking into the fire that was slowly being extinguished by the rain, he had kind eyes as always.
"Who says I can't? who can stop me?" After the captain said that he began laughing.
" Trust me men I will not perish, it might sound dangerous but do not fret for I am strong and I refuse to die, I've only lived for 40 years afterall" he said chuckling.
'40 years? but he barely looks twenty' Kajus pondered.
The captain had given his clan members his "plan", Larthus would go into enemy camp and execute the mage.
It was a simple plan but it was practically impossible, it sounded like a plan a 10 year old would make but the captain has explained it confidentially.
First the camp was always guarded so getting within 500 meters of the camp without getting seen was practically impossible. When the men asked how he was going to get into the camp the captain merely chuckled and looked at the person asking him this question with kind eyes.
Second, who says a wizard orc is easy to kill? just like the last question he merely chuckled.
Thirdly, who says it's easy to get out of there after one has killed the gray orc, there are plenty of strong orcs close by. The captain yet again only chuckled in response.
As he was done being questioned Kajus noticed that the captain fiddled with a necklace, the necklace looked holy, it was in the shape of a heptagon and in the middle a floating sphere not connected to the heptagon.
' It is obviously magical, maybe that pendent holds some super spell that can obliterate the camp hehe' Kajus thought, it wasn't a super serious thought but he had hoped it would come to fruition.
The captain seems to be firm in his decision so no one else tried to stop him, the captain walked into his tent.
The clan members all dispersed ready to hit the bed, the sun was down and everyone had to get ready for the battle in the upcoming days, there was word last night that the orcs where doing a ceremony meaning that war would soon be broken out and for many this was nerwrecking.
Kajus, Grinda, Geoff and Aron were the only ones remaining, they sat close to each other on the same bench.
"I've got a nice bottle of wine with me, I planned to save it for something else but it seems fitting opening it now" Aron said.
Geoff smiled while Kajus and Grinda's didn't really care, they were young so they didn't appreciate a good bottle of wine, there was no difference between a good wine and a bad wine they both thought.
Aron took a swig and handed the bottle to Geoff. Aron laughed "This is indeed some good wine don't drink it all now"
Both Aron and Geoff were around their forties and sported similar looks, Aron looked more athletic and young while Geoff looked more muscular and battle hardened. They didn't look to be in their forties, maybe their late twenties, at least Aron but neither looked forty.
Geoff took a swig and passed it to Kajus who in turn also took a swig and then passed it to Grinda.
"You know I really miss my sister and parents" Kajus said in a low and sad tone.
Aron and Geoff both looked at him and sighed.
"I lost my family when i was young, they were farmers...." Geoff looked dismayed into finishing the story
"We got attacked by a pack of wild wolves, father was the first to get killed while the rest of us hid in the house he tried protecting us he fought the wolves admirably." Geoff took a short pause Kajus and the rest had a sad look in their eyes.
"The wolves got in and killed my mom, sister and big brother, I hid underneath my moms corpse hoping that they would go away, the sounds..."
"the sounds of hearing your mother gett-"
Geoff stopped his story and his look told him that it still hurt to tell the story and he didn't want to continue telling the story.
Grinda had a tear in her eyes and she quickly hid her face in the comfort of Kajus' shoulder. Kajus comforted her with a hand over her head.
They silently passed the bottle around until Kajus broke the silence.
"you know my sister is the prettiest young little girl in the whole city! she is talented and smart and also very cute and pretty!" he giggled for himself with a hint of happiness and longing in his eyes.
Everyone Laughed except for Grinda who fell asleep on Kajus lap.
"She has this little pouting face she does when she pretends to be angry and it's just the cutest thing" Kajus Laughed some more.
The mood turned for the better and Geoff, Aron and Kajus spent the night telling pleasant stories to each other, trying not to be too loud as to wake Grinda or the others sleeping.
