Synopsis
Ahh, I'm dead. That's what I had realized when I woke up. Yet, oddly enough, I don't remember how I died. Contrary to my expectations, the place I woke up to wasn't the afterlife. Facing a little girl, I was suddenly told that I'm her Guardian Angel. I died, so how did I become the Guardian Angel of a child? With numerous questions baffling me, I did my best to carry out my new duty as I tried to explore my forgotten past. What happened to me? How did I die? What exactly happened during the gap in my memories? The more I learned of myself, the more the questions in me arose. And I pray, That the truth isn't something I'd rather not know. ........................................................................................................................... Note from Author: I wrote this without basing on anything in particular. In short, it's mostly imagination-based work so any widely known knowledge you have regarding angels and demons, you can just throw them out the window. Read my work with a blank slate. It's easier that way. By the way, this is my first book so I'd appreciate some comments and reviews so I can know better where to improve myself. That said, hope you enjoy my work~

Chapter 1 - I'm Dead

So, it all started when I was going about my day, going to work as usual.

At least, I was supposed to.

And yet here I am. Floating in midair in the middle of an unknown room.

How did this happen? Where am I? And most importantly, where the heck am I?

My latest memory I remembered was the moment I stepped out through the door of my house in the morning, about to head out to work.

So, I wonder if there's anyone around who can tell me why I'm in an unknown room in the middle of the night, floating above a child's bed?

Looking down, I see that the child is innocently sleeping soundly in her bed with the most blissful look on her face.

'Must be having a good dream,' I thought to myself as I pondered about my own nightmare of a situation I'm in.

Looking around, I floated to the window and lightly shifted the curtain. Outside was dark and it was raining rather heavily. It was cold and gloomy.

'Cold?,' speaking of cold, I noticed that I don't particularly feel anything. Heck, how am I so calm about this whole insane situation? It just felt incredibly empty. Like something's missing.

Turning around, I floated over to the mirror next. Expecting to see my own reflection, I was half shocked to see that instead of my reflection, I was greeted by a horrid shadow of something floating in the middle of the room. It was blurry, with long disheveled hair, 'she' was wearing a white shirt with a trench coat.

'I guess, that's me,' I silently nodded to myself.

I stood there, staring at my reflection for some time before smiling sadly.

"That. I'm dead, aren't I?"
